The combat system is one of the game's many strengths. I must say its my favorite part aside from being pretty while doing so, of course.

^^; ...Anyway, are there certain enemies you'd like to see in PSO2 and beat the crap out of? enemies that could spice up the game more?

Dark Falz, of course. Apparently he's supposed to be a 12-man multi-party boss. It's sort of a rumor, but I feel like it's probably true.

...hm, actually, pretty much all the 'Ruins' enemies. Hopefully they're morbid, twisted creatures straight out of a nightmare.

On top of that. Something more challenging.

The profound darkness from phantasy star 4. Since us who played that know that dark falz is [SPOILER-BOX]just a tiny sliver of the PD's power that slips through the seal[/SPOILER-BOX] I think it would make an epic boss.

Make all the enemies faster and more aggressive.

SigNOOBeats are pretty fun to fight to bad you'll only see three an entire run, and they die in like 1 combo.

More like the mines enemies (gadin/gadinan & their cooperative behavior, signo beat, gilnatch, etc. just enemies that do more than walk/fly around and hit/shoot you), and less like wyndera. Fuck wynderas.

I'm new to PS so I don't know how much of a bad ass this Dark Falz is, I'd have to see for myself!

Yes, Delsabers! Also, I want Evil Sharks, because I always thought they were some of the coolest enemies in PSO1!
Moreover, human/newman/CASTs as enemies... I dunno, they could have like a space pirate group made of CASTs that tries to f-up the ARKs work...
Anyways, I just want to beat the crap out of CASTs for the most part :/
More Rappy-variety would also be greatly appreciated!

De Rol Le.

I remember seeing some Monster Hunter video where you fight some serpent-ish boss on a ship and then when you get close you jump on it's back and wail on it.

Even if Sega just shamelessly ripped off that scenario, I wouldn't care.

Make it evil, Sega. Not "oh, no, we have to fight them with the powers of cute and love" evil, but....well.....actually evil.

I want enemys that are MUCH more aggressive, and have multiple attacks. its boring when everything just walks in a straight line and slashes/stabs/bits at you.

also if there where more cooperative enemys. like the when the pan arms split up in PSO they would take turns alternating strikes, and giving there own debuffs.

The Profound Darkness was just an excuse to not develop a proper phatasy star 5. I never cared for it.

More rare ennemies would be nice, and I support the idea of "difficult" regular ennemies. As it is now, we are a bit overpowered for some areas (well I'm still stuck on the mines quests so I don't really know) but I would love to see some ennemies where you genuinely would fire up the chat and ask for help.

Really, the enemies in PSO1 were smarter in this regard simply for being more efficient at killing things.

I'm not really looking forward to 12-person MPA bosses, there's just so much spam going on that your input just feels insignificant :(
Also, it better have at least 2,000,000hp to survive the non-stop alternating weak bullet spam.

yes! Motherbrain! And Grass Assasins. and maybe some darker variant of Carriguines? I also liked the giant break-dancing robots from PSU. They had style. I'd like to see those come back. lol :P

I haven't played any of the PSOs since Ep I&II, so I don't know if she's already made her re-appearance, but if not, Red Ring Rico would be awesome to bring back as some type of even more bad-ass version of Dark Falz. :)

Also, I'd like an ultimate-style reworking of enemies. Not so much the reskins (I won't say no to some new looks, though, so long as it's not marketed as a whole new area a la PSU), but a revamp of their tactics and aggressiveness.

Hell, maybe water down everything for normal, beef it up for very hard all ultimate-style, and then do something even beefier for ultimate.

While I'm sure everyone here agrees that the scale of that boss is awesome. I don't think feeling "insignificant" is a good idea. Because that video is already 8 minutes long and skipped parts of the fight I can only assume how long that really took, but definitely WAY too long.

I'd like for them to add more bosses like Big Vader. Giant bosses you have to climb up and take out key points. If any of you ever played shadow of the colossus, things like that.

You can make a boss challenging without giving it an HP pool that takes 30+ minutes to drain.

Grass Assassins simply because they pulled them from the older games (like Rappies) to PSO. Would be a shame to not pull them again.

The Ruins had a nice enemy list. Delsabers, Chaos Sorcerers and Chaos Bringers were all memorable. Hildebears as well, though I guess they just repurposed them as Rockbears....

I kind of agree. I hate it when, most games, simply pump mobs with more hp to make it more difficult. However I don't mind taking 30+ minutes to kill a boss so long as it's a fun boss to kill. And for this game in particular, isn't a boss that can appear randomly on the normal map.(I love wandering bosses but if a super hard boss could randomly swoop down and fuck me over during a TA or whatever I start to get pissed.)

I love in gamecube pso when taking on Falz or Olga at too low of a level and it taking awhile to kill. It was a blast. I remember one Falz where everyone in the party but 1 hunter would be OHKO by his fuck you Grantz. We wiped and came out with a strategy to have enough moons to live through the fight. When we got to the third form everyone but the 1 hunter would drop their moon to the floors. He would use 1 moon each time to revive me(The force) and I would reverser. After a long fight using this strategy to avoid complete annihilation. We won.

I felt so accomplished! Even though we must of spent 2+ hours trying to kill him.(Because of all the tries.) I also remember being too low level to fight olga but here my group was trying to. We must of spent almost an hour trying to kill it. Almost all of us could be 1 shotted by his sword shock wave attack in the 2nd form. So we actually had to utilize hiding behind the rocks so we wouldn't die. The fight took a long time but man was it fun!

So long fights can really make you feel accomplished. So long as they are long for the appropriate level and fun. Once we hit whatever the cap is in this game. It shouldn't take as long but still be at the "You get careless you die" difficulty range. With the boss taking 10-15 minutes.(The final ones anyways.)

In my opinion.

THIS!!!

I remember the first time i solod falz on ultimate mode I was lv 114. Every time he hit me I would have to heal completely, or the next hit would kill me. It took me a good 11 tries to do it because of the 2nd form doing the rabarta>blades combo, and because i wasnt healing fast enough on the 3rd form (out of mates) and he would just thrash me.

Sure he became easy when I was lv 150, but he was still fun as crap to fight.

@ Fox: True, but wasn't dark falz in psu also a reskin of dulk fakis 2nd? It wasnt till infinity when he actually got his own original model (which got reskined lol). What i'm trying to say is that just because an enemy got destroyed in another game, theres no reason not to bring it back.

Man, going underleveled against ANY falz was hilarious. When I made new characters for hunting rares in ultimate I actually saved scape dolls specifically for those fights and then loaded the character's inventory with them when I went up against the harsh bosses - mainly da ral lie and falz. I'd narrowly escape death with some attacks, but something like the rock smash from da ral lie or grants from falz would one-shot me every hit. So I scape tanked the boss. I had maybe 25 deaths to kill the boss.

It was actually pretty effective too. That was PSO1 though, PSO2 is a whole different game, not to mention that scapes cost real money.

Dark Falz, with new falz IDOLA tracks each form, hoping it's 4 player only or have two versions where you go with 4 or go with 12 through a portal. Multiparty fight would be extremely hard compared to the 4 man, maybe even an extra form. And for the love of god they better not make it a random possible spawn in the multiparty area. That would totally kill it for me if it did. -_-

I see I'm not the only one who thought of this! We also used moons, and then intentionally took hits that knocked us down to get invincibility frames during the following blade swipe. For grants we'd also use some math to work out exactly what units we could equip to survive it, and it was usually 2 light resist units and 2 hp units. That let ONE of us live with like 5 hp - usually me as a HUcast with about 5 HP. So I'd need to get the force back up with one of the dropped moons. Then he'd get other people back up.

Then when the moons ran out (long fight) the force would pick up all the scapes.

Aaah, good times. One of my favorite things in PSO was going way underleveled in areas, it brought back a level of challenge and certainly a level of accomplishment. HUnewearl and RAmarl were particularly good at it with S&D + J&Z letting them survive two crits from the biggest enemies in an area. Nice breathing room with that.

edit:

I always felt like ep 2 enemies were meant to be played in a game more like PSO2 than PSO1. I'd love to see enemies on the level of everything fram gal da val and seabed.

We really just need some enemies that actually legitimately try to kill the players if they're dumb enough to stand there for them. Specific enemies I'd like to see return would be Vahras (aggressive and they sound hilarious), Astarks, Delnadian/Delsabers, Chaos Sorcerers, and Deljabans. Others too, but those are the ones that stick out immediately for me.

As far as bosses go, I'm gonna be generic and say Olga Flow. It'd be really neat if they reworked that battle a bit for this game. Maybe have him break something on the elevator so that its falling uncontrollably rather than descending at a steady rate like in PSO/PSP2I. Maybe have falling debris to jump on or hit at Olga as well? I could see them doing some cool things with that fight in this game.

I want less darkers on the zone, i'm tired of doing desert / mines and fighting darkers most of the time, while i come to fight fucking robots... for desert it's crazy how there's more darkers than robots >_<

also almost all monsters from pso1 are already here, reskinned.
for example the unicorn en current cave is the same as the old unicorn on pso1 ruin, except his skin.
the fucking darker that make little darker is the same as the old forest bee ennmy on pso1.

also i agree with making monsters more agressive, it's crazy how most of the time they don't do anything...

I totally would love too see that being the big horror fan myself.

And the area should be full of despair and be pretty organic.

I like darkers. It makes me feel like they're a real threat, how they're on every planet. But, some are far too common. I'm sure I've killed more dagans than any other monster by a huge margin.
Tundra and desert almost did it right with how they have level specific darkers (but desert still has the same ones we've seen for 15 levels). Then mines again has the same darkers as desert. And... I'm ashamed to admit, but I've actually only done one level in skyland (I've capped all my classes, what am I supposed to be doing up there?), so I don't know how that layout is.

So... yeah, you're right. There are too many darkers. Doing client orders is a pain, because when you're hoping to get native data, you're getting darkers. Gotta kill robots for their case? Darkers. Then wanna get some darkers? No good hunting spot, they're spread out everywhere.

Long hair? I don't think so. Look at the top. It's on fire. I think that's, I don't know. Plasma? Fire? Dark energy? It's clearly some type of energy, and not any type of matter. Which, you know, just makes her even more freaking badass.

While we're talking about awesome not-hair, checkout the holo-hair on Mother Brain,

And though I can't find a .gif of it, there's a neat non-PS example of E.V.O. The supporting character has hair MADE OUT OF OCEANS!

I don't see how as long as it was balanced properly. A few additional ranged enemies in the back of a mob providing support fire could make things a lot more interesting imo.

Like for example, one of the current enemy set ups I like is the city El Dagan mob + Breeada + Kartagots off in the distance sniping with Psybeam. You have to exercise caution and be aware of your surroundings to dodge both the strikes and the ranged attacks. I'd like to see more stuff along these lines.

After playing a bit of RE again, I'd like to see something like this reaper thing who has weak points that show themselves occasionally (much like vardha), and subsequently. Yes, it only shows the second weak point if you hit the first and and so on. What's interesting is it will cast an illusion whenever you nuke it mindlessly, making it impossible to see whether it has shown its weak point or not, and can kill you on the spot if you are close enough.

And stick em in the lobby!

Tranmizer is pretty much baranz, omgwtf rockets and all.

Most enemies do have parallels, but are amped up. Gilnas is gillchic, gilnatch is sinow gold, signobeat is sinow beat, gadin/gadinan are canadines/canine, the only ones that are completely new are the spar series. Tranmizer is garanz, and big vader is vol opt - right down to breakable parts.

And I really really like what they did to the old enemies. Completely reworked, but definitely still a parallel.
