I've been searching the forum and internet all day to fix this problem with my OEM Microsoft Xbox 360 controller (Wired).
Here where I'm at:
- I have a wired Xbox 360 controller OEM
- doesn't work with any controllers
- when attempting to use it the cursor just disappears and no input is accepted AT ALL
- reset default multiple times
- re-installed the game multiple times
- re-installed drivers multiple times
- have the game control settings set to Xbox 360 controller from the setting menu
- cant calibrate since the game doesn't pick up or accept and input
- Can't find anyone with the a similar problem that includes a fix

Try out the keyboard. It's easier to set up (read: No effort), and the game plays like a dream with it. If nothing else, it's a temporary solution.

Oh, and check out the tech forum. You might be able to get real help there.

This guy obviously wants to use his gamepad, I don't think saying "use your keyboard" is very helpful lol.

That said, I can't really offer any help either. PSO2's gamepad options have always been spot on for me.

I honestly don't know what to tell you... I use my Xbox Controller as well, but I have a wireless controller and use a receiver. I had some problems initially, and here are the steps I went through to get my controller working:

[Credit to Henzome from Amazon.com]
[SPOILER-BOX]To correctly install the driver you have to follow these steps:
1.Right click on Computer
2.Go to Properties
3.Click on Device Manager
4.Right click on the Unidentified Device
5.Go to Properties
6.Go to the Drive tab
7.Click on Update Driver...
8.Browse my computer for driver software
9.Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
10.Microsoft Common Controller for Window Class
11.Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows Version: 2.1.0.1349
12.Update Driver Warning
13.Click Yes

Congratulations, have fun and play!

[update]

I discovered that some people had problems with the controller
not syncing with the computer. I recently had the same problem
and after some frustrating experimentation i manage to fix it.

Go back to the device menu and find the "unknown device"
and simply follow steps 4 to 13.

If you have more than one
unknown device i suggest unplugging the other devices
(at your own risk).

This is what worked for me and if you find a better way please
share them with the rest.

This guide is meant mainly for Windows 7 64bit. but it probably
works for Windows 7 32(confirmed) and Vista. I have no idea for XP.[/SPOILER-BOX]

Keep us updated~

After plugging it in, try running joy.cpl, and under Properties, test and see if the computer picks up the controller inputs.

I had the same issue, I fixed it by making sure I didn't have any other hardware software running

If you have a keyprofiler program like for a naga mouse or special buttons on a keyboard it wont work. Terminate those programs and try see if the game pad works
