But, is this official or was I just lucky because of my method used?

You've always been able to hit for over 9999 damage, but it would never show up graphically. It was still recorded on your Play Records in the Visiphone though.

You can probably pull it off with Weak Bullet and any really strong single-hit PA like Heavenly Fall and Sneak Shot. I'm sure there's other methods.

I remember back in psu I always used to wonder if it was possible to deal over 9999 damage, I never seen it happen though. Still there is a special kind of pleasure from hitting for a cap number wheither it be 9k or 99k. Then again without a cap dealing over 99k damage would be really cool too...

Both are correct.

This damage was only influenced under "Small Boost" effect of a Shifta drink. It would have been very nice had I not been rushing to get my drink going and chose the wrong item.

Has been done. There are screenshots but you'd be searching many pages for them in the PSU forum. And I've done it myself. 2 easy ways of accomplishing it;

Last Hit from Anga Redda via very strong +10 Axe(say, the vil de vear axe) and Jabraga.

In offline PSU I seemed to have hit a cap of around 9750 damage with Jabroga; never went above that. Was weird.
