Im really not a fan of the keyboard/mouse to navigate. I was thinking about using a wired MS360 controller, but was just wondering if there is a controller that you guys recommend for this game.

I've just been using my PS3 controller with XBox 360 controller emulation. Any controller with two analog sticks, a select and start, a d-pad, four face buttons, and four L/R buttons will work though(and two buttons in the L/R analog sticks doesn't hurt).

yea thats what i figured. is the xbox 360 emulation the same concept as xpadder?

I used to use the wireless 360 controller, and now I'm using the wired one. It works just fine.

I've just been using my wireless Xbox 360 controller with a USB Receiver (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003WFYZCY/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00) [this is the same one I bought, works like a charm].

I'd really just recommend using a controller you're already familiar and comfortable with. That's the best way to go. c:

using a ps3 controller with motionjoy driver. i can go wireless or wired whenever i want, and create a custom key layout or just emulate a 360 controller.

awesome. Does anybody have the button layout they would like to share, or possibly a screen shot of what the button layout for xpadder or something like that. Or do you do that in the actual game?

How complicated is it to configure a wired MS360 controller to the JP version of the game? Sorry if that sounds silly. Im just getting into PC gaming now solely for PSO2.

I recommend Xbox 360 Controller. I use that gamepad.

Only downside is that the D-Pad sucks.

I used to use a PS3 pad with MotionInJoy, but stopped when I started playing ranger. Mouse & keys are better for Ranger, gamepad for Hunter, Force is a wash.

Xpadder, and some other programs, are impossible to use with PSO2 due to GameGuard and its opinions on playing the game legitimately with a controller you own.

well, considering that the official controller happans to be a 360 pad, you could go with one of those, i play a lot of 360 so i just spent $8 on e-bay for one of those wireless 360 PC adapters+^_^+ (which happens to be included with the PSO2 controller)

nothin beats a 360 pad with controls mapped to best mirror Gears, going into TPS, and losing myself to the game for a few hours+^_^+

Does it play like PSU if you use the controller on PSO2?

360 controllers work great, but it is a shame that even though the 360 controller is the "official" controller, PSO2 doesn't even support XInput (which means no full trigger compat., rumble, and I can't use this controller program).

I don't recall ever using a 3rd party driver for pso2 with my MS 360 controller
I just installed the MS controller driver for windows and the game recognized it...

Yea i had to configure each button in game but that was simple...

It's wired if that means anything...

Been using one of these:

Cideko Conqueror

It's kind of perfect, but it has a heavy price tag.

I have the 1~0 skills mapped to the F keys.

I've been looking for something just like that for a while now, mainly for the extra button options. I have one of those miniature keyboards for xbox controllers, but the only option to use it on PC is buggy and requires a wired controller, which I don't normally use.

Is the conqueror sturdy?

I got mine for about 80 USD.

It's pretty sturdy and has a really long battery life. You could just leave it plugged-in if you want.

The only downsides are that the rear triggers are not actual triggers, just extra buttons. This works for PSO2, but it could be problematic for other games.

I got mine during the PSO2 alpha... so I've been using it for over 400 hours. Absolutely no sign of wear.

I've been using this one for about 4-5 years now and the only damage to the controller was the ripping of the left stick rubber pad. After I slapped on some GRIP-IT stick covers, I was back in business :D. No mechanical failures or buttons wearing out. For a cheap purchase of $15, it was a really good investment in the long run. Unlike the normal wired controllers, this one has a lot more of a clicking mechanical feel to it rather than a cheap hunk of plastic like the usual gamestop brand (http://www.pso-world.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=2450&d=1351643915). Which complements my BlackWidow keyboard for a nice mechanical experience. Also, the controller is thinner width wise compared to the official wired controller and is thus more comparable to the size of a wireless official 360 controler that I'm already accustomed to for gaming. And most importantly of all, it is blue. Freaking blue! ^^

My only problem with it is mainly with the game itself is how low the turning speed is in TPS mode. I mean the camera is fine normally, but TPS mode is just too slow and inaccurate compared to the power of my logitech trackball mouse which is seemingly unaffected by this issue. Good thing I prefer to play the game in a DMC-esqe control fashion.

Unfortunately, it seems gamestop has stopped selling this brand as I can no longer find it on the website. :-? Hell, it was tough finding an image of this blue badass.

EDIT: I found it but its only in new (http://www.gamestop.com/xbox-360/accessories/gamestop-xbox-360-controller/43229). Not sure if I can trust the reviews considering the kind of fan base gamestop has, but mine has performed above and beyond my expectations of a controller at that price and I also own the two of the usual gamestop branded controllers. Plus I'm known to be pretty abusive with my stuff like dropping them on the table to quickly type; and this baby's still running after 5 years.

Get a PS2 to USB Adapter (they're $10-$15 off eBay) and a PS2 controller (they're $15-$20 new from Amazon and your local Gamestop).

IMO that combo works really well - the converter I have is a Super Dual Box Pro, but there are many variants of it that will work just fine for PSO2.

I had that Gamestop controller and it sucked. The bumpers stopped working.

Which is why I switched over to the official wired 360 controller. :P

Eksbawx360 get.

PS controller is backwards, can't run and quick select with dpad without some awwwkward hand gestures and PS gives me bad analogue thumb.

Xbox360 is basically a glorified dreamcast control, and well, pso-> pso2 ect...

I use the Dual Shock 3 (PS3) personally; running MotioninJoy 0.6.0005 drivers, I am able to run the controller in PS3 mode rather than XBox emulation mode. (My experience is that no other version of the MotioninJoy drivers works correctly for this, either newer or older versions cause problems with the right analog stick drifting). This means all the buttons work, including the PS button (which I have mapped to Change Target, very useful for some bosses).

It's pretty much perfect for my purposes.

I use a Wii Classic Controller (http://media.gdgt.com/img/product/23/hyv/wii-classic-controller-1v9d-460.jpg) plugged in a Mayflash USB adaptor (http://www.mayflash.com/Up/day_111202/201112021436385776.jpg) and I'm quite happy with it, even having not too many buttons. I actually tried like 5 different controllers, including some top line Logitech ones, and even the 360 one, but I guess it has been too many hours playing Wii and I don't really feel like getting used to a different one.
