View Full Version : Does the game look good with Low settings?

Does PSO2 look good on it's lowest settings possible? Some guy said it looks worse than PSO1 when set at low. I knew he had to be lying!

Also! Do you need a top notch computer to run PSO2 at it's lowest settings?

How much RAM would be needed? if so?

It looks very, very bad. Model quality does not drop, but textures are very low res and lack of effects are terrible.

Also, you should probably be worried about more than RAM...

Here's some screens btw:

Pretty bad compared to the videos. Do you play on these settings?

Uhm, there's a line between those eyetearing textures and the best textures which is still decent o.o

Yes, its pretty terrible. Certain effects also just flat out don't show up including some techniques by the way.

I didn't always play on those settings, but my graphics card shits out on me a lot now (hardware issue, I've done everything else possible from the software end) and am running it on my integrated card now. I recently lowered the resolution and raised it to 2 since it looks a lot better that way. I only really ran it like that because I could get 60 frames with terrible shaders, but its not worth it to me now when Samegid and Quartz's crystal shard attacks don't even show up. :/

What you saw is it on lowest quality with lowest quality textures. Give me a minute and I can upload some full quality pics.

Amazing difference! Do you really need a Top-Notch, D1, A1, Computer to run this game at those graphics?

I just posted one actually:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vl8gnqwYvi4

I recently lowered my res to 720p and put it on shader lv 2 with max texture res because I was annoyed that samegid didn't show up. Now I'm stuck at 30 FPS though and a smaller window.

Was you running the game on High Quality or low when this video was made. I take it that this was ran on High.

Not to bad. I try to always record in 720p res

No, that's graphical setting 2 with highest quality textures.

@Crim Normally before I could play at 1080p with full settings just fine. Main issue is that I like windowed and can't switch out of fullscreen without messing things up.

I used to play on Graphical setting 3 with max textures and fps, but when gameguard started being an issue I started getting all kinds of lag that I never had before X.x.

Now I play on graphical setting 1 with max textures and fps, Its a bit lighter all arround and not as dazzling, but its not that bad. Textures make alot of difference though, on low textures you cant see all of resta or any of the finer details on monsters. I'd definantly keep those high no matter what graphical setting you're on.

Nope. You can get very good graphics at medium setting and keep a 40-ish FPS on a medium laptop, like I do myself. You don't need a powerhouse for those kind of graphics. PSO2 isn't demanding because it focuses on model textures than landscape. I personally could care less for terrain graphical output.

If you play on low settings, enjoy your N64-ish quality graphics.

Well I mean the models themselves are fine quality. But the textures are probably lower than dreamcast era resolutions. Also, certain effects don't show up like I said which can kill gameplay. Lack of bump mapping and good specular kills it for me too.

Character models almost look like PSU IMO. :P

Believe me, their poly counts are way better. I could show comparison pics if you really think that.

To be fair Sakai did mention that you can adjust your graphics on how you like. Wanna make it like N64 graphics, go ahead.

Why are people so hung up on graphics, graphics don't make a game good. Though playing in the lowest settings might suck a bit. I'm playing on medium setting on a 6 year old laptop with Intel Core2 Duo 2.26 ghz, 4gb ram and a 1gb Nvidia Geforce 9600m GS.

You're right, but....I don't think any of us are stating that the graphical nature of the game will either make or break our interest in playing the game. We are merely saying it increases the experience.

To the OP...

In the end is better to have good performance than good graphics...(I had to choose between playing at resolution of 1366x768 with Lv. Graphics and 800x600 with Lv2. Graphics, the second one runned way more fast xD)

If you really care about graphics get some better hardware (I don't know about computers and not even trying to :B )
