INTRODUCTION

Since I am the type of guy that loves collecting things, I figured I'll share some of my knowledge on how to obtain a few of these lovely items.
Ever since the bloom of PSO2 started, lots of new Phantasy Star related goods have appeared, and it's not always easy to know which items to buy.
In this thread, you'll find tons of various Phantasy Star Merchandise, together with information on where to buy them.
I will try and update it frequently whenever a new item hits the market, so stay tuned if you'd like to get your hands on limited goods!

Also, since PSO2 has triggered the PS-series to grow a lot more popular in general, a lot of people are also selling off parts of their own ancient PSO collections.
So if you're still hunting that super rare Collectors Edition item you couldn't find 10 years ago, now might be the time!
And let me know if there's a specific item you've been wanting, and I might be able to track it down for you.

I've also set up a post for others to show off their Phantasy Star collections. If you're interested in displaying yours, keep scrolling down and read the information at the "Collection Gallery" section.

RETAILERS
Note: the info you see here is all based on my own experience

http://pvc.meji.se/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/amiami1.png (http://www.amiami.com/)http://askfaq.org/img/favorite.png

AMIAMI
I believe most of you who own the PSO2 Premium Package (http://www.amiami.com/top/detail/detail?gcode=TVG-PC-0487&page=top%2Fsearch%2Flist%3Fs_keywords%3DPhantasy+S tar+Online+2%24pagemax%3D100%24getcnt%3D0%24pagecn t%3D1) know of this site. AmiAmi has a wide selection of pretty much everything, and their prices are often the lowest on the market. They have a broad selection of some cute PSO2 merchandise, such as Rappy plushies and phone straps. They're also selling an AmiAmi exclusive version of the PSO2 PS Vita package (http://www.amiami.com/top/detail/detail?gcode=TVG-PSV-00390&page=top%2Fsearch%2Flist%3Fs_keywords%3DPS+Vita+ph antasy+Star%24pagemax%3D100%24getcnt%3D0%24pagecnt %3D1) (since their sales in the PSO2 Premium Package went sky high). Worth checking it out, if you're one of those extreme collectors.
This is one of the pages I, myself, most frequently buy from. Their customer support is genuine, and you can always cancel your pre-ordered items (unless you turn that into a habit, then they get mad at you). Keep in mind though that parcels from AmiAmi almost always end up in customs (if your country's into that kind of stuff). AmiAmi also sells pre-owned items (http://www.amiami.com/top/page/c/preowned.html).

http://pvc.meji.se/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/hobbysearch.png (http://www.1999.co.jp/search_e.asp?Typ1_c=101&scope=0&scope2=0&itkey=Phantasy+Star)

HOBBY SEARCH
Hobby Search pretty much offers the same selection as AmiAmi does (when it comes to Phantasy Star goods), but at a little higher price. I usually head over to Hobby Search in case the item has been sold out on AmiAmi.
Pro tip: for all you CAST lovers, they sell tons of Armore Core (http://www.1999.co.jp/search_e.asp?Typ1_c=101&scope=0&scope2=0&itkey=Armored+Core) and other mecha stuffs over there!

http://pvc.meji.se/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/hlj1.png (http://www.hlj.com/scripts/hljlist?GenreCode2=all&Word=Phantasy+Star&x=0&y=0)

HOBBY LINK JAPAN
Hobby Link Japan (HLJ for short) sells a lot of hobby-related tools, but also some figurines and other merchandise. Their selection isn't the widest when it comes to Phantasy Star, but it's still worth a check.
This is the page you'll be visiting a lot if you'd one day would like to sculpt out a figure of your PSO2 character yourself. They've got pretty much all the materials you'll be needing.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v660/meijerem/tokyohunter1_zpsbdf5a13b.png (http://www.tokyo-hunter.com/)

TOKYO HUNTER
This is one of the most exclusive figure-retailers you'll come across. They have loads of rare/uncommon figurines in stock, and also take on commissions for hunting down a specific figure for you. Tokyo Hunter is one of the few retailers which took pre-orders for the PSP2i Nagisa figure (http://www.tokyo-hunter.com/category/figures/pvc-figures/product/moekore-plus-18-nagisa-pvc), since this figure originally was "Volks exclusive" and only sold on Volks own website (http://www.volks.co.jp/en/). You could say that Tokyo Hunter pretty much works as a figure provider, like SutoCorp/CN-USA works like WebMoney providers for us.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v660/meijerem/Untitled-1-1_zpsd47c20f0.png (http://www.play-asia.com/paOScore/19-71-99-49-en-15-Phantasy+Star.html)

PLAY-ASIA
This page has been around for an eternity. They pretty much have every Phantasy Star game ever made in their search history. Their prices are a tad high though (unless you've come over a few 10$ off coupons). I'd say you only buy from this page if you can't find the thing you're looking for in other places. They do offer free shipping on the PSO2 PS Vita Special Package (http://www.play-asia.com/Phantasy_Star_Online_2_Special_Package/paOS-13-71-1ab-49-en-70-5qyb.html) though. Worth a buy!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v660/meijerem/yesasia1_zps38342c1d.png (http://www.yesasia.com/global/search/%E3%83%95%E3%82%A1%E3%83%B3%E3%82%BF%E3%82%B7%E3%8 3%BC%E3%82%B9%E3%82%BF%E3%83%BC/0-0-0-bpt.48_q.%E3%83%95%E3%82%A1%E3%83%B3%E3%82%BF%E3%8 2%B7%E3%83%BC%E3%82%B9%E3%82%BF%E3%83%BC-en/list.html)

YESASIA
YesAsia is one of those pages you never thought sold Phantasy Star related items, but in fact they do. Quite a lot of 'em. The prices on YesAsia are a bit high, but they pretty much always offer free shipping. Only drawback is that the shipping takes quite a long time. Never had any problems with my parcels ending up in customs when buying via YesAsia though.

http://pvc.meji.se/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/mfc1.png (http://myfigurecollection.net/sales.php?sort=date&order=desc&search=Phantasy+Star&tid=0&currency=&price_start=&price_end=&cid=0&location=&ic=-1&bc=-1&mode=list&page=list)http://askfaq.org/img/favorite.png

MY FIGURE COLLECTION
This is one epic page. Not only is it a huge database filled with figures and anime goods (check out the Phantasy Star selection (http://myfigurecollection.net/search.php?overall=Phantasy+Star), for example), but it's also a huge forum and selling site. A lot of people sell their collections on this site to a very nice price. You can also add figures to your wishlist, and you'll be given an automatic email as soon as this figure is being sold. You can also subscribe to be given information whenever they update the information of any figure. Perhaps you'd like to subscribe to these upcoming PSO2 HUnewearl (http://myfigurecollection.net/item/129884) and FOnewearl (http://myfigurecollection.net/item/129883) figures?
I hang around this site quite a lot. If you'd like to view my whole collection, you can find it here (http://myfigurecollection.net/profile/Meji).

http://pvc.meji.se/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/mandarake1.png (http://ekizo.mandarake.co.jp/shop/en/search.do?action=keyword&doujin=all&keyword=%E3%83%95%E3%82%A1%E3%83%B3%E3%82%BF%E3%82 %B7%E3%83%BC&searchStrategy=keyword)

MANDARAKE
NOTE: SOME GOODS ON MANDARAKE ARE RATED 18+
Like pre-owned items? Like doujinshis? Then you've come to the right place. With low handling costs and shipping fees, Mandarake is the perfect place if you're interested in just buying a small amount of items. These guys get in new items every single day, so visiting the site every now and then to search for Phantasy Star related items might not be such a bad idea!
Their search-engine is a bit old fashioned, so if you want to look for anything Phantasy-related, try all different kinds of searches (PSO, Phantasy, ファンタシー, etc).
Be warned, though, they don't like you not paying them in time (or canceling your order). If you fail to pay them, they'll ban your name and address from the site, so that you'll never be able to make an order from that place again. Make sure to check your mails frequently if you buy anything from here.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v660/meijerem/rakuten-1_zpsd07fb9c2.png (http://global.rakuten.com/en/search?st=&tl=0&k=%E3%83%95%E3%82%A1%E3%83%B3%E3%82%BF%E3%82%B7%E3 %83%BC%E3%82%B9%E3%82%BF%E3%83%BC)http://askfaq.org/img/favorite.png

RAKUTEN
This site will pretty much eat all of your money. Not because it's expensive, but because it has got so many items at super cheap prices. I mean, the official PSO Light Novel for only ¥79 (http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/surugaya-a-too/item/2014685-1/), that's a damn good price (it sure is a hell lot cheaper than the ones on eBay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Phantasy-Star-Online-light-novel-1-2-Complete-Set-/310517430036?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item484c47f714)). They also have a (very impressive) point system. Whenever you buy something, you earn points to a total of 1% of what the item cost (1 point = ¥1), and if you buy for more than ¥10'000 ($115) at once, the points you receive is multiplied by 10. It's almost as if you're given a 10% discount right away.
Their shipping is very fast. The only thing that takes some time is after you've placed your order. It might take a day or two before you're given a mail which has you confirm the contents of the parcel.
They always update their site with new stuff everyday, so make sure you check in every now and then to see if something interesting has landed in their shops.
Most of the things you buy from Rakuten are pre-owned.

Side note: When searching at Rakuten, only use the Japanese names for the items your looking for (i.e, ファンタシースターオンライン instead of Phantasy Star Online).

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v660/meijerem/ebay1_zps53c457bd.png (http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=Phantasy+Star&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313&_nkw=Phantasy+Star+Online&_sacat=0)

EBAY
When all else fails, use eBay. I'm not saying that eBay is a bad site, just that the stuff people sell on here are mainly over-priced. Sometimes you may run across some really cool and limited goods on eBay though, so it's worth checking it out every now and then.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v660/meijerem/yahoo1_zps210f3da3.png (http://auctions.search.yahoo.co.jp/search?p=%E3%83%95%E3%82%A1%E3%83%B3%E3%82%BF%E3%8 2%B7%E3%83%BC%E3%82%B9%E3%82%BF%E3%83%BC&auccat=&aq=-1&oq=&ei=UTF-8&tab_ex=commerce&slider=0)

YAHOO AUCTIONS JAPAN
This might be the most complex store to buy from, but you'll surely find tings you want here. Yahoo Auctions is pretty much Japan's answer to eBay. Normally, you would need a Japanese address and credit card to be able to buy from this site, but there are a few ways of getting around this (though it'll cost a bit more). This way is called "Proxy Service (https://www.google.com/search?q=Yahoo+Auctions+Proxy&aq=f&oq=Yahoo+Auctions+Proxy&aqs=chrome.0.57j0l3j62.5066&sugexp=chrome,mod=12&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8)". There are a lot of different providers who accept requests on buying things from Yahoo Auctions, shipping it to their facility, then sending it all the way over to you. Do expect a handling fee and an even higher shipping fee when using these providers though.

ZER0 DX's Collection
[SPOILER-BOX]
Nearly complete collection of every Phantasy Star game released of mixed regions. US versions for the games released here, JP games for the ones that haven't been. Not pictured is Nova since I was playing it recently and forgot to put it on the shelf before taking the picture. Still need to get boxed copies of vanilla PSU and AotI for PC. Hopefully some day I'll be able to track down some of the rarer stuff as well, like the JP only physical boxes of Blue Burst and the Asian V2 PC PSO set, and if I'm really lucky the Network Trial discs too.
[SPOILER-BOX]http://i.imgur.com/go0IR1G.jpg?1[/SPOILER-BOX]

Aside from the games, I also started collecting the soundtracks since Infinity's. I still need to get the older ones but the Music Collection box pretty much takes care of that anyway. Also that Lillipan plush was a lot bigger than I thought it would be when I bought it, it's made out of a really nice and soft material too, so I'm pretty happy with that purchase. Not pictured is a couple other trinkets I won from GM events on PSU like the inflatable PSZ Rappy mag shoulder band thing.
[SPOILER-BOX]http://i.imgur.com/VXBipxz.jpg?1[/SPOILER-BOX]

And finally my favorite Phantasy Star item of all because it prevented me from sustaining a rather serious injury... The legendary Phantasy Star Universe wristband I won from a GM event Edward hosted on PC PSU before it shutdown. It sadly broke due to getting snagged on a handrail when I nearly fell down about 30 concrete stairs at work. I slipped off the top step in an awkward way which caused me to end up dancing down a couple steps before getting turned completely around and started to fall backwards. Wristband got snagged on the side of the handrail that I was so desperately trying to reach and grab on to, and the friction from the rubber against metal tugged my arm just enough to gain the necessary composure to grab on and prevent my untimely demise. It snapped and flew off my wrist in the process and I couldn't find it anywhere afterward. I stumbled upon it about 6 months later just laying on the walkway near the back gate entrance not too far from where I nearly fell. It got a bit ravaged by the weather but I cleaned it up and brought it back home, sort of as a good luck charm even though I can't wear it anymore.

https://www.google.com/search?q=dollar+to+yen+exchange+rate

Google has a ton of cool tools and calculators built right in. Yen to dollar came up as 1 = .01, which is a handy estimation but isn't really as accurate as dollar to yen.

I have a few rare nuggets packed away including the beta discs for both Ep1&2 and Ep3. Also the PSU Perfect Bible from late 06-early 07.

I personally tend to use xe.com for exchange rate coversion. Note that's just the standard global rates =P Your bank will usually have its own conversion rate thats will be 2-4 cents different to compensate for market fluctuations

I don't really like collecting things, even memorabilia of things I really enjoy. I'm too lazy to do anything like that. Well, that and buying all that stuff probably gets really expensive, really quick. Especially something like Phantasy Star, where all the good swag needs to be imported from Japan.

My 'collection' (that I would never try to improve) consists of PSU, PSP1, PSP2, and a Magashi figurine that I bought because it was too cool not to. That's it. Anything more than that I would probably dub excessive.

Nice collection you have there ZER0 DX.

The network trial discs are not that rare or expensive. Both the Gamecube network trials are readily available on the Japanese market and you can pick them up together for under $50USD,
though you often see western re-sellers marking up the price to ridiculous levels.

The Dreamcast network trial while older and perhaps has more scarsity, do turn up every now and again but never really command a high price either.
I've passed over the chance to buy it several times in the last year.

The Japanese retail boxes of PSO Blue Burst are a bit harder to find but usually can be had on yahoo auctions for 200-400yen.
The SEGA Direct PSO Blue Burst: Episode 4 retail box however is quite highly sort after mainly because it was the only way to obtain the OST,
but even the price of that has dropped dramatically recently when some Japanese seller on Yahoo auction seemingly had gotten hold of a box full of them and was selling them one after another.

PSO ver.2 for PC is the most expensive out of all of the above to obtain.
It comes with a random (out of 5 designs I believe) mouse mat and still works fine even on windows 8.1. I highly recommend you get this!

There is also a US retail version of PSO Blue Burst, and that is going to be by far the hardest one to obtain.
I really have no idea how to get my hands on that. Other obscurities you could get would be the SEA and Thai retail versions of PSO2.
I only have the SEA version myself and it really is nothing to look at.

I've been rather disappointed at the Japanese PSO2 retail releases apart from Premium Package 2 which came with the mini OST.
I really wish SEGA put more effort into them instead of just throwing in some items code in lieu of anything interesting.
So I've decided that I will wait until I can pick them up on the Japanese second hand market for peanuts.

I am really interested in the "Music Collection Box" you have. At the moment I can not justify buying it due to how much it costs and I do not know any other PSO collectors who own it.

So I was wondering if you could tell me a few things about it?
I'm curious as to what content is on the included DVD and if the Soundtracks (PSO/EPI&II/Blue Burst) still contain the bonus content (wallpapers and such) that were on the original releases.

ZER0 DX

I'll be honest I haven't really looked that hard for the trial discs, just something I'd like to procure in the future, and possibly get Japanese copies of all the games pre-infinity as well. I keep running across the Japanese Phantasy Star 1 at random places so I might grab it next time I see one. Seems to have been a pretty common import people are reselling. I know it has the better soundfont due to making use of the FM sound chip that only the Japanese Master System had.

I'll definitely start keeping an eye out though for some of the stuff you mentioned. Had no idea there was a physical US release of Blue Burst, I always assumed Sega was lazy and just made it download only for us. As for Ver 2 on PC, really interested in those mousepads now! I've had the ISO's of Ver 2 for PC downloaded since about 2003 or 2004, game ran and worked flawlessly on all of my older PC's and laptops but my current main PC just won't the game at all for some reason, tried everything.

That Music Collection box is pretty awesome, I'll take some pictures of it later. Basically comes with two box disc binders in the main box sleeve, discs are categorized by series in chronological order. The boxes split the discs by PSO tracks in one set and PSU tracks in the other. All of the music on these sets are of higher quality than the original discs, so they're not just re-purposed and re-labelled. That also means they don't have the bonus wallpapers either. However it does come with a booklet that has some of the same art and wallpapers from the old discs, includes lyrics for the vocal songs and has the item code for PSO2 which gives you all of the area music tracks from PSO (From Ep 1, 2, and 4) as jukebox discs. They're selling for quite a ton on the player market right now, I still have mine sitting in my bank for almost a year now since I haven't been able to choose between keeping them to use eventually or to sell for easy meseta. The DVD it comes with isn't really anything special, it's a PSU chronicle that quickly goes through the events of the entire Universe series. Overall it was a pretty cool box set. Definitely not worth the price tag though.
