So I was thinking of going with this build for DPS
http://ryuhiroshi.ry.funpic.de/pso2/skillcalc.html?kAIYIkIYIkIYIkIYIkIYIkIYIkIbIn00000 0ib00000febJkGFftF0000lb2XCFfcAIs000Ib00000ib00000 f

but I was wondering if going with Attack PP restorate would be good for a DPS build
(Attack PP restorate build i I did take it)

You dont need so much ability. GU/RA has absurdly high ability already. to add more would be a waste of SP.

I'd max out chain finish on the GU side, not put more points into R Atk.

Similarly on RA side I'd probably not worry about the extra R Def and R atk or the extra ability and instead opt to either hold my SP or if you use rifles a lot (which I doubt you do as a GU) put them into standing snipe. Like This (http://ryuhiroshi.ry.funpic.de/pso2/skillcalc.html?kAIYIkIYIkIYIkIYIkIYIkIYIkIbIn00000 0ib00000febJdGF00009b2QIScFcAcD000Ib00000ib00000f)

Admittedly the extra R Atk would help your damage a little, but unless you're buying skill trees like crazy it's better to wait for expansions to the skill tree.

Definitely max chain finish though. it boosts the damage you do when you end the combo by 35%. seeing as you can get a 400% damage mod at the end and the boost would be 35% of 400% in that case (augmenting it to 540%) you really wanna take that skill if you're going to be using chain trigger....which you want to do.

This is my skill tree.
http://ryuhiroshi.ry.funpic.de/pso2/skillcalc.html?kAIYIkIYIkIYIkIYIkIYIkIYIkIbIn00000 0ib00000fdBJdGFIdGFjdn0009b2QI2cFcAcD000Ib00000ib0 0000f

Don't mind the trap search on Ranger, you can ignore it, I got it for fun since runs through Nab TA traps were beginning to annoy me. You should still have some spare sp points, that you should probably keep should they decide to expand our skill tree again.

Static bonuses are terrible and should only be taken if you need the raw stats to equip certain weapons or units.

I would call this a skeleton build, with only the "must haves". (http://ryuhiroshi.ry.funpic.de/pso2/skillcalc.html?kEIYIkIYIkIYIkIYIkIYIkIYIkIbIn00000 0ib00000ibJdGF00009beDI2cF000lb00000ib00000f)

For Ranger, Standing Snipe has some situational use or you can just save the points.
Gunner: Zero Range Advance and Chain Finish are worth consideration. Even if you don't care for the right side of the tree, 1 point in Chain Trigger is advised (more points in CT is just lower cooldown timer).

Having a Just Reversal on one of the trees would also be helpful but currently Gunner has a beneficial glitch where you get to use JR anyways if it's main or sub (I guess?).

If you want to know -what- something on the tree does, consult http://cirnopedia.frostsabre.com/ and check the Class section.

No that's completely wrong. R atk is pretty well useless past what it takes to equip the better TMGs

Between your Mag and your SP if you have 600 R atk you're good to go. Everything else should be damage multipliers.

Im also wondering about this since im going GU/RA, what would be a pure dps build? Chain finisher or range 2? Plus should I go for standing snipe in the ranger tree? Wondering if that counts when using TM since most PAs and even normal attacks do move you forward.

Chain Finisher does not increase DPS much. It increases damage, but does not really increase DPS.

I find Zero Range Advance amazing, but you may not be so close to the enemies as I am.
R-ATK Up is never a waste.

UnLucky
Jan 26, 2013, 10:53 PM
Well it's either 135% PA damage during chains, or 115% all damage all the time.

Seeing how chains are Gunner's claim to fame, it makes sense to make them even better. If you stack everything all at once (WB+100 hit chain+Chain Finish) you can get off to the big numbers. Then again, Zero Range also applies for chains as well as any other time, so it's not a bad choice.

Extra R-Atk Up is usually a waste, yes. As in, you should get all you need from your Mag and class/race choice. You get next to nothing unless the skill is near maxed, and even still it's a pittance. Points can be better spent on a good skill instead, unless you're just oh so close to the best gear at your best.

Would suggest trimming Dive Roll Advance on Ranger down to 1, putting the 2 points into Standing Snipe 2 to max it. Unless those are already spent points.

A 9th point in Chain Finish would be another 10% boost (10th point +5% on top of that). Would take points out of R-ATK Up 2 and/or Aerial Advance.

May as well dump all of the points from R-ATK Up 2. Those are pretty much all or nothing. Put into Chain Trigger for -20 second recast, I suppose.

If I could respec (I maxed out Aerial Advance, which I kind of regret), I'd go with this (http://ryuhiroshi.ry.funpic.de/pso2/skillcalc.html?kDIYIkIYIkIYIkIYIkIYIkIYIkIbIn00000 0ib00000fdBJdJ29k0009b2QI2cFcIJd000Ib00000ib00000f ) (taking the level cap raise into account), maxing out Automate Deadline just for the hell of it.

Max attack PP restorate, chain finish, and get mechgun gear.

Sit on the rest.

Or, you could put 10 into automate deadline. I find that skill VERY useful. Just sell your monomates and let the no animation healing happen. It lets me be so lazy, I love it. Gu/ra ends up being a better defensive class than hu/anything because of it, the defensive nature of mechguns, and vader units.

So I take it standing snipe does work, even tho youre technically "moving during elder as an example. I think id rather go with something like this http://ryuhiroshi.ry.funpic.de/pso2/skillcalc.html?kDIYIkIYIkIYIkIYIkIYIkIYIkIbIn00000 0ib00000fdBJdJ29k0009b2QrFcFcIcD000Ib00000ib00000f to max out the dps

Seravi Edalborez
Jan 27, 2013, 05:20 AM
Standing Snipe doesn't really work for the TMG side. Only for the first attack (so no JA) or for Infinity Fire > stationary Infinity Fire. It's still worth investing into because:

A) Improving Rifle PA damage when on Weak Bullet duty
B) Ranger skill tree doesn't have anything more worthwhile to Gunner

That said, tree looks good.

Even when im on wb duty I just wb then switch to TMG... but oh well, maybe ill just save those points and see if they extend the trees

gigawuts
Jan 27, 2013, 11:16 AM
The purpose of "WB duty" is more than one WB needs applying for the goal of what you're doing. Have fun breaking one single breakable part with your one single WB, then taking the slow route for every other part.

SociableTyrannosaur
Jan 27, 2013, 01:01 PM
sounds like you lik wasting WB then. lots of bosses have breakable parts and it's a waste to just wb to break the part and throw the rest of your shots away or have to wait 2 mins so you can get down after that. not only that but if you're the only one with wb and the boss isn't going to die after one WB you're really not being much of a team player.

Even as a gunner I typically WB to help break parts quickly and then switch to tmgs once all parts are broken or I'm waiting for WB to cooldown. Once parts are broken I use chain trigger and combine it with WB for the first hit on my rifle then immediately hit 3 on my num pad to switch to TMGs w/Elder to drive up my hit count, staying in the air so I dont change position. When I'm ready I hit elder and end up doing over 40k damage a hit, which usually means dead boss.

But WB is for more than just killing the boss in one combo and it's better to contribute with its other uses.

BTW using it once and then switching is NOT WB duty.

EDIT: Giganinja'd

I tend to look at weakbullet as a execution phase on boss kills. But for utility I like to use is as a marker for the party to take down a boss as well. I tend to run with forces so I just let the weakbullets fly and make their splash damage do the rest. On falz however I weakbullet all the weak points I can

...what?

Seravi Edalborez
Jan 27, 2013, 09:49 PM
If you are in a group fighting a boss, there is absolutely no reason to not use all of your Weak Bullets unless:

A) You only have one other party member and they are literally asleep, a complete idiot, or are LAUGHABLY undergeared (even then, hard case against ending WB early)

B) You can literally kill the boss in the span of that one WB, due to either having no breakable parts and/or it being just that pathetic (basically just minibosses).

C) You loaded WB in advance; you COULD get away with just 1, Elderspam until done, then back to WB. But it's not much different from just using all of the shots first unless your case falls under B.

One WB: You get a pumped up Elderspam (or whatever), everyone else gets whateverspam. Back to regular broadcasting.
All WBs: You sit around with One Point/Sneak/Homing, everyone else gets whateverspam, THEN you get Elderspam.

If anyone thinks "One WB" is better for anything but case B, you think your damage is more important than the total party damage and you therefore lose at GU/RA (or I have missed something painfully obvious and you can rebuke me, of course).

It's funny and fortunate how this has gone from "not necessary" to the status quo.

When the game was new, essentially nobody said you needed more than 3 points in WB. "Nothing needs more than 2 WB LOL" was pretty much standard. Comparably, things still took about as much time to kill as they do now, but people wanted more points in weak hit advance than weak bullet.

Glad to see the community realizing that, gee, everyone around me doing 3x damage during 2 more WB's (plus more frequent WB's) might be more useful than me doing 10% more damage at all times.

Always, always, always max force multipliers, unless it's severely terrible like shifta advance/crit.

I used to be in the "3 WB shots, didn't always use all of it" camp (I didn't jump from 6 to 10 until ~a month ago). But bosses with multiple parts began to get annoying if I didn't use it all up.

It's a similar mistake to believing Elder Rebellion is the answer to everything (it still basically is, but...); there are some things Infinity Fire, Bullet Squall, Additional Bullet, Cluster Bullet, Divine Launcher, Rodeo Drive, etc can just handle a little bit better.

All of Kressida's COs whenever they are up (exception to some Gunslash-only and complete-as-a-class-I-don't-use). Whatever area you go to, pick up the weather COs just in case they happen, and whatever of Hans/Revelle/Franka's COs that are convenient. Not things like "kill 80 Micdas" or "bring 900 Fodoran ballsacks" because that's stupid. Things you would reasonably be able to do within 2-3 runs of a certain location (because of Kressida's COs).

Doing it on Hard instead of VH would make things faster where applicable.

At least that's what I did. But it's not the same as having Christmas Xie's COs :(

Raises trap power. AKA it sucks but is required if you want Trap Search or Upper Trap for some bizarre reason.

For weapon, depends on what your stats are. Just check whether it's more cost efficient to

-Get the best Alva/Vita weapon you can equip to +10
or
-Get a 7* or 8* rare to +probably-less-than-10-because-this-is-hopefully-temporary

Jellen Shot Build (http://ryuhiroshi.funpic.de/pso2/skillcalc.php?04IAb3Ikb3Ikb3Ikb3Ikb3Ikb3Ik0lbIn000 0009b00000fdBwdJ2fqsINcAfdn0007b00007b000009b00000 8), or you can get Stun Grenade instead of Rare Mastery or something.

It costs 13 SP to unlock, and the first point is GARBAGE. 1% damage reduction for 10 seconds with a 2 minute cooldown. wow

Maxed, you get four shots with 10% damage reduction for 30s each and 90s cd. That's not so bad, but it requires a launcher. So you either apply the debuff to a group of enemies when you don't need the reduction, or you're stuck with a launcher on a boss fight when you do.

It's just not worth 23 SP. And you waste spare bullets trying to apply both WB and Jellen at the same time.
