Since the Vita Closed Beta Testers have received their product code already, I figure this will be a good time to start getting all the testers together in one place. :3 All the better for ensuring that we all manage to hit level 10 as well as always have a party on hand during the test. :3

Anyway, that said, this thread is for:

Yunamon, you might want to take down the image of the title screen. I'm not sure just how strict Sega will be and we don't want any unwanted attention on the english beta testers, ne? :3

We (or at least I) will comment and post as much as we are allowed to, but for the first few days at least, give us some time to get an idea of the boundaries we've been given. Please don't be too overzealous and lose your spot by posting on a whim. ^_^ On another note, it's not needed to share your PSN (SEN) ID just yet, because the game is likely to use your in game name instead of your PSN anyway.

Anyway, if any of you already know which of the test days you are very likely to be on, please PM me so that I can put it up in the first post. I'd rather you not post it in the thread where it might get lost. ;)

Heh, 10 million. Didn't Sega recently celebrate getting 1 million registered players for PSO 2? Anyway, 100k sounds reasonable given the sales of Vita vs PSO 2 players. :3

As for linking the SEN account to the Sega ID account, I would note that while this is conjecture, you probably can't link accounts until the servers are actually up for the tests. I would speculate that the procedure is similar to the first time you connect via PC - you just log in with your Sega ID and the SEN you are on gets registered to account you use.

I wonder if that's been confirmed or not, but if it has, that looks like it will be useful for someone without the Vita physically. I do note that it says you need to activate, download and log in to the client on the Vita first though.

I really would like to play with someone who discover the game as well (just played 1 hour, creating a character and doing the first forest mission, that's all) or play in a close way from mine.
I'm not the type of player who tries to farm and do each mission in the fastest and most efficient way, especialy at the beginning.
Just enjoying the game at first, then thinking about the other things.

And I don't know if it's important or not but I have good knowledge in japanese, so I have no trouble in menus. I could also understand some story parts I guess, depending on the lexical field.

FYI new i.e. 3rd vita vid has been added on Japanese PSN showing off gameplay only. pretty good content although some parts appear to be higher quality res than others like it was feed/rec setting maybe(?) gives a very good idea of what to expect really.

I think they're referring to the Fighter, Gunner and Techer classes as they said something about being left behind by PC players.

To even use those classes, you have to be level 30 on the "starter" classes before being able to unlock the other classes.

@zoltron, Taigarr: Nope, no such luck. We had to make do with a glorified phone style virtual keyboard in Infinity, and a qwerty style one in vanilla. Still, the touch screen on the Vita should make chat considerably easier than it was previously.

Btw, zoltron, seems like I forgot to reply to another of your posts much earlier. I don't mind adding an optional section for PSN/SEN IDs for those of you who want to share those. Just drop me another PM and I'll add it in when I have some time.

No. Phantasy Star PSP did not support voice chat. Hardly anything other than a couple of military shooters, on the PSP, supported voice chat. I wouldn't hold my breath on it. Still, at least Vita typing is less painful than PSP typing, and there's still auto-words and such. A PSP2 idea carried over.

With how fast the game is, typing with the d-pad doesn't help. Sure they're typos with a touch screen input, but it's generally faster.

huh? surely you mean Sega id right?? cos surely your USA PSN id would not associate your (now japanese profiled) Vita & mem stick etc so you should not have been able to load the game let alone login.... unless I am missing something...

There's always something exciting about being part of a beta test. :3 Anyway, the controls are decent, though coming from a Razer Naga/ Nostromo combo, it's a bit clunky for me. :3 As always, the keyboard sucks. Guess it's a portable tradition.

Btw, is there any one who could do feedback translations to Japanese, in case someone wants to send it some feedback to Sega? This is a Beta Test after all, and the more feedback they get, the better.

It was interesting to play through the game as a new character that have nothing on. 5 under lv10 people fighting against a lv20 Ragne is lolnope when everyone's using basic equips and PAs/techs. Not within 10 minutes.

Takes a while to get used to the control unless you change it to type 2. In which case it still takes a while to get used to 'cause now you can't use the down arrow to palette swap. :<

It took me a while to get used to the button configuration, and mostly makes me feel like I shouldnt take it too seriously since my PC pad config is way more flexible than this...I can't blame them, though...it's a portable system and it's totally justifiable they opted to reduce the buttons functionality.

As for gameplay, it feels okay UNTIL you enter to a full MPA. It really got laggy at city when you tried to destroy a Baize and everyone was going haywire against it. Also, did anyone else have problems with sound effects being cut abruptly? I dont mind the music being cut from block to block, but stuff like voices being cut out of nowhere can disappoint some people.

The game itself is well suited for a Vita, but it certainly needs a lot of improvements.

I have to say though, the abundance of AC clothing was cool. It seems this beta takes a lot from the current game structure, aside from the tekker and maybe grinding prices as mentioned before.

Many of the problems you are talking about are mentioned by Sega on the beta page.
For example, I'm sure I saw the sounds problem on the website.
I did not check if it was meant to stay still through the all beta or only today.
I was too tired to look for everything.

not so much a review but guys all i can say that 7 hrs later and I'm still grinning from ear to ear......... I dunno maybe its cos its been such a long wait and there's nothing else half as good IMHO on the vita to date and probably wont be again for ages (or until Killzone Mercenaries arrives hopefully at least)..... but I am pretty impressed with it so far especially when you look at just how much they have squeezed in from the full PC experience in terms of graphics, gameplay, in game mechanics and animation, even throwing in utilities like chat and ALL of this over 3g (at the mo?)!!!!

It would be unfair to compare it to pc for obvious reasons, but all i can say is it looks like PSO2, it plays like PSO2, it feels like PSO2 and its on my vita!

Despite all the rough edges here and there, this right here..... right here in my pocket, IS PSO2 (had to apologise to my wife cos thought it was something else ;-))..... yes PSO2 and by that I mean not just by name....

The game did in fact suffered framerate drop, both during the opening FMV and during an MPA when a Beize is attempting to eat everyone next to it. Didn't noticed anything other than those two occasion though, and I was in a PSE burst with around 10 other people. (Granted, none of us have Gifoie or PB.)

Edit: Yeah, people's JA sound effect happening right next to you is probably another bug (this was not noted on the site). It made finding the MPA pretty hard.

While it's easy enough to find people in block 20 (usually we hang out at the Visiphone/Item Storage booths to the left or right of the gate area), the easiest method by far to find people is to perform an Arks Search in the Visiphone. If memory serves, it's the 3rd option in the Visiphone, followed by the option to search for a character, a team, or player, in that order.

If I am looking for Cornelia for example, I can just walk up to the Visiphone and do a character search for the character, then send a whisper to let her know that I'm going to send my Arks Card. I can't recall the exact option which corresponds to sending the card in this menu - should be the 2nd to last on the list of options I think. I'll confirm this later and update it in the first post.

I'll probably post my thoughts on the game once I'm past level 10 later today. :3 Still looking for a volunteer to do a feedback translation for us to send in feedback to Sega btw. Any takers?

I managed to be level 9, with free forest unlocked and finished one time.

I can thank the nice player who stayed calm while I was completely lost between 2 menus even though I understand most of it XD.

So I was thinking...
If you go in a block almost empty, won't you have less risk to see this multi party thing ?
It's just that it would be relaxing to be able to tackle a free place without someone who kills half of the thing on you way.

Unlike other MMOs, there's no "kill steal" in this game, and everyone gets the same EXP and individual drops on their own screen. But yeah, if you want to just solo your way through, lock the MPA.

I crossed both, not just the second, but didn't put a pass. Should try that, thanks a lot if that really works ! (not that I don't trust you, but it would be amazing and I'm kinda pessimistic sometimes :p .

In fact, the reason behind this not that I want to be alone especially, but that I just want to be with the party I'm in, whoever the players are in.

Simple example : I ask a friend who want to try the game and I go with him in the forest to play at really slow pace, to make him understand the game, his class...
See numbers behind walls and items on the ground everywhere surely will only be confusing and less comfortable.
To have the choice is what matters, so I'm quite relieved and will definitely try it out :) .

The vardha EMQ surprized me the most. I managed to last only 5 secs before getting murdered by a laser. I enjoyed the short battle, even though it was like a complete slaughterhouse most of the time and seeing other players being launched like "Human cannonballs" off the radar was priceless x) O and btw if anyone who play the vita port of the cbt wanna add me to their psn friend list, feel free to do so. my SEN ID is on my profile page
