If they've banned CH IP's, I'm guessing it's because of all the RMT bots and stuff.

Anyhow @ OP I say this thread would've been fine if you didn't say "whose next."

Either facepalmable offense, or admirable trolling to get the "OH THIS AGAIN" sheep posting started.

And not the way SEGA is handling them.

Blocking country-specific IPs won't stop bots. Those people always have lots of proxies and VPNs.

Feel sorry for the legit players though, they even have an entire PSO community on baidu, with their own wiki and very detailed guides on things like Matter Board.

Is this legit?

Daiyousei
Jan 13, 2013, 04:11 AM
I can read Chinese and yea, it's legit that they are IP banned for now. There are many other recent threads there on the IP bannage. They can only play with VPN or proxy now.

It's probably just temporary.
This is extremely unfair to those that weren't harming the servers.

Wide spread bans have been used if a region of the world is suspected of illicit activity, and to make matters worse China does have a large market for under-the-table work and dealings.

That's assuming they found most of the RMT to originate from there.

Definitely I think it is the RMT/botters thats wrecking everything. Everywhere I see a goddamn bot.

This reminds me of the "Chinese Gold Farmer"

sega will probably change it's course of action and lift the ban if they realize that banning their ip is not enough to stop the bots

I TOTALLY wasn't being sarcastic!

I'm think about, how much shiit are we gonna have to put up with, and the excuse will be "To prevent bots" (Even though it'll just questionably cost us money.)

Trading and Shop needing AC - didn't do shit to stop bots. Making us all rule breakers by changing the TOS didn't save anyone. IP blocking kicks out a bunch of legit players, WE HAVE GAMEGUARD FOR CHRIST SAKE, THAT ONE IS SELF EXPLANATORY how gameguard ever stopped ANY hacking??

Next we'll be getting 5 hours maintenances daily scanning for bots and then it'll take 5 dollars from our debit cards for every maintenance to cover the cost on "anti botting" resources.

Any official info that they were region blocked by SEGA? Could be one of their main ISPs doing maintenance on DNS servers. Happened in Russia like a month ago for this reason, stayed for a day then gone.

Nothing official but since no one outside of Japan is officially allowed to play, I'd doubt they'd announce anything.

Always find it funny when this route is taken by companies to stop a certain group from their "unwanted" activities, when the ones doing this always easily have the means to bypass it while the innocent typically don't.

Jan 13, 2013, 10:42 AM
Heh, I guess SEGA is not gonna let the game suffer from RMT like FFXI did in its first 5 years before SE completely obliterated them.

Reminds me of when AC2 was released and the only people who were able to play were the pirates.

Been banned from a few other Japanese and Korean games due to international IP blocks, even though my friends and I always minded our own business and never caused trouble. It's pretty damn annoying.

You have too much faith. It will take them both the same time. Matter of fact SoA would lag because Japanese people have to do the changes THEN ship to US and Sega in general is incompetent.

It's a little depressing when you give some thought to it. ._.

Honestly from what I've seen from SEGA of America's representative/spokesman, Edward, he spoke of improving PSU over and over and yet nothing actually really happened in the end. The servers died inevitably.

Aside from PSU, their terrible service has also applied to PSO1 with the GC Ep 1 & 2, and also for Blue Burst too lol. Everyone knows this but just refuses to accept this.

Well the problem has been around for over a week, SEGA just addressed it only recently. :/

It's just been happening more often recently for some reason.

Remember how the maintenance crew went on vacation a while back? There wasn't any maintenance at the time.
This is what happens when server cache gets too huge.

I'm joking, it's probably the fact that this would happen if no weekly maintenance were to be applied.

If you refer to my post it was a joke on how people keep saying SoA is incompetent while SoJ is roughly the same. Almost all faults of SoA can be credited to SoJ.

i seem to recall a while back that https://cha.isao.net/profile_oem/OEMLogin.php?product_name=pso2 was region blocked for a while, but now people can create accounts again+^_^+ with how successful RMT people obviously are (or they still wouldn't be doing it) they'll probably buy proxies to get in if they weren't using them in the 1st place+^_^+ so it's possibly just some sort of testing being done on SEGAC's side+^_^+
