Considering the hands get 80% defeat rate after the very first minute I highly doubt it will ever happen. But it's nice to speculate, I just think Sega won't let the Elder battle appear and that be it.

Nope.

It never unlocked Falz either, because the game wasn't programmed to track progress or unlock at :30. Just ended.

They scale how much damage needs to be dealt with the number of online players. By the looks of things, it's set up so hands are always unlocked at about 20 minutes. Between that and players signing on just for the announcement...yeah.

I wouldn't be surprised if literally nothing different happens if we fail one day.

It did, yes. I recall fighting the hands on the first battle, but the Falz Elder quest was never shown after that.

Again, it was a bugged EQ. Ship 2 did not fail. The quest came up under a normal EQ announcement (it was the second EQ of the day), so it did not track progress or unlock Elder.

I did hear though in the first few weeks that ship 1 lost to falz. And I think I heard another ship did after that.
