Most likely the big update is in preparation for the Vita launch, the Vita/PC shared blocks are going to have smaller maps after all, plus there's Chrome Dragon.
The dragon appears just for Vita players at first, but if a PC player is together with a Vita player in a shared block and a Chrome Dragon appears, it looks like if they defeat it, the dragon will start appearing for that PC player even in PC exclusive blocks.

Update might kick in at Feb 20th when everyone already downloaded the three parts. At least that's how I see it.

Edit: keep in mind that even if you download the files, the update might not take effect until Feb 20th, that's what I was trying to say.

Reopen it, the files should still be there. If it's like the initial downloader it may not show the correct progress, but it will still be there and will complete at like 70% instead of 100%, or something.

Downloaded mine when I was in the shower, it took about an hour to download though. That was about an hour and a half ago.
