Definition of RA-def & Tech-def

I know these stats are sometimes req. for certain weapons but I am having the idea I only get physical attacks, therefor I am only focussing on STR-def.

When is there RA-def an Tech-def involved in the game and do we need it?

Some bosses do tech damage like quartz, some bosses do range damage like tranmizer. All bosses do some sort of strike attack, and so it is the most useful of the three.
