hi, im currently looking for an asus laptop and im on a 500 dollar budget, i've been looking through sites such as amazon, best buy, newegg, and ebay but im not sure which ones would be best to run it on at least lowest settings. also i'd like to spend at least $400 or $430 on one. these are the ones i've been currently looking at:

those all have integrated graphics which are reaaaaaally bad for gaming so i'm not so sure you would be able to play on the lowest settings. I'd look for something with a gtx 260m or higher (thats the gpu in my laptop) and i can play on setting 3 with mostly 60 fps. Best thing you can do is use $500 to build a desktop that's alot stronger than a laptop. But if you have to buy a laptop avoid integrated graphics like intel gma, etc.

A quick google search gave me this (http://gaminglaptop1000.com/best-cheap-gaming-laptops-under-500-dollars/). I'd say any of the four choices at the bottom would work.

I hate gaming on laptops though so I can't give you anymore advice.

I build a gaming desktop for $600 that can max this game fine so why get a laptop? lol

Everybody knows that desktops are better than laptops. Performance isn't the reason why people buy laptops.

Possibly wants a laptop for particular reasons, and would like one that could play PSO2 while on the move or so...

>_>

I wish people would stop bringing up the "Desktops are better" argument, because while they might be, people have their reasons for choosing a laptop instead.

the main purpose of me buying a laptop is for school and my other one was complete shit. if i really wanted a desktop i'd wait to get another 500 to make a gaming pc, but thats not what the money is for. anyways i'd want one that i could also use to play pso2 on, so none of the ones i looked at are good enough?

I run PSO2 decently with a laptop I bought over a year ago for $400... I have an ASUS with 4 gigs of ram, a Dual Core Processor and (my bottleneck) Intel HD Graphics so you should be fine playing PSO2 on a $400-$500 budget ^^;

that seems to open up some more choices but at this point im not sure, don't want to get a laptop that won't be able to at least run it on lowest settings and then send it back. i've been looking around though, im not sure if this is a decent one but can this one run it? http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-Series-Laptop-E2-1800-Processor/dp/B00AOS67T6/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=3CHTGFGXRQZHB&coliid=I35UX3IQFML34M
if not i might just have to buy the acer.

I got mine at a Bestbuy in the town I lived in, my model number is X44L, I usually run my computer at Standard Shaders for PSO2 but in a lower resolution, usually 1024x 576, than fullscreen (1366x768 native) because I'd rather see my character in more detail but It'll run smoothly on simple shaders at fullscreen.

I run PSO on my laptop, which is a Novatech (http://www.novatech.co.uk/laptop/gaming/)

I don't know if they have a US base, but I've found them to be awesome, they pretty much allow you to spec up and then build it for you. I've linked to their basic gaming laptop page (most of which are in the £400-£500 range -not sure how that would convert into $ -probably not well considering shipping) so you have something else to compare against

Nice website there Caledonia but i doubt he lives in the UK for ordering it there, you can look around newegg and amazon for deals as well for nice laptops for some mid gamming.

I have a laptop with a Geforce GTX 260M as well, i have the setting on 5 with the shadow setting on 4 and i still run fine even in pse bursts on a 2.13Ghz Core 2 Duo lol, however the res is set at 720p in window mode, can't do 1080p even with the HDMI output port due to the limitations it has.

My computer (ULV i5 + Geforce 630M) handles the default graphics settings windowed at 720p without an issue, though it does sometimes slow down a little with 12 person PSE bursts. I am limiting the game to 30 fps though.

I might try that i just recently got a cooling pad which keeps my pc at 65c when playing this game. No more lag or overheating :D

The recomended system spec
http://pso2.jp/players/download/

Window XP(SP3)/Window 7 32bit/64bit
CPU: Intel Core Duo E6300 1.8ghz or higher
Ram: XP - 1.5GB
Win 7 - 2GB
HD - 20GB or higher
GPU - Nvidia 7800GT or AMD Radeon HD 2900XT or higher

So any laptop using Ivybridge or FX serie with dual core or high and CPU spd above 1.8ghz
And Any DX 11 capable GPU should suffice

Any PC with an Ivy Bridge CPU should be able to run this game with its integrated graphics, albeit only smoothly on medium settings I believe (maybe a little higher).

And please get the idea that it takes $1000 to make a "gaming pc". Another thing to note is do you really need it to be a laptop for school? I'm not trying to get you to buy a desktop but a lot of times people just use their laptops as a desktop. I, myself am going for the new hybrid tablet stuff like the Surface Pro or Razer's Edge, instead of rebuilding my desktop that I sold, just for the pure convenience of a tablet.

Game runs 60fps 1366x768 resolution (standard shaders) on my i7 3517U (17w version) intel HD 4000 and works similarly well on my wife's i3 2310M (35w) intel HD 3000. The game isn't very graphically intensive on low shaders, so like the post above me stated anything ivy bridge should be fine. The 17w (ends with -17U on the cpu model) i3's might be a little iffy but overall i doubt you'll have a problem.

Two suggestions:
Asus 15.6" i3 2350M ($430): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834230693
Asus 15.6" AMD A8 ($400): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834230960

As far as I now, these should fit your price range and manage pso2 with no problems.

I just wanted to chime in confirming what the author wrote. I have a laptop with an AMD A8-3520M APU (previous gen APU) and I can run PSO2 with 3 setting at 1280x720. That Asus 15.6" AMD A8 is a newer model than mine and should run the game better.

One thing to note is that the resolution setting has a big impact on the performance of my laptop. Dropping my resolution from 1366x768 to 1280x720 gives a big boost in FPS. Way more so than dropping the resolution from 1366x768 to 1280x720 on my media center computer (Pentium D @ 3.4ghz, 8800gt, 4gb ram). If you buy a laptop with an AMD APU, keep that in mind while you are fiddling with the graphics settings.

Dunno if you bought yours already, but mine is HP Pavilion g4, AMD Radeon HD Series (integrated graphics card) and it runs PSO2 in the 2nd setup of the options on the launcher. It runs pretty faster in minimum, but still runs good on the 2nd mark (with my 1MB connection). I guess is not expensive in dollars, idk. Maybe it's worth a look ^^

I know. Kinda almost skipped over it. But, I read the reviews on the site as well as some spread over other sites. A handful of the positive reviews being from other gamers, saying how their games run on the laptop with nothing really bad to say. So I figured it'd be worth posting at least~

PSO2 isn't a very tough game to run. Honestly, even Intel HD 3000/4000 could run it, probably even at native resolution just fine (assuming native will be 1366x768 ). If you are on a $500 budget, don't let cards like a gtx 610m deceive you, it will actually perform worse than intel hd 4000 in a lot of games. At that price range, you should keep an eye out on the open box section of newegg and possibly find a fantastic deal on a decent gaming laptop. I got my $1400 MSI laptop with an i7-3610qm, 8gb ram, gtx 660m 2gb GDDR5 ram for about $850, as an example for the kind of savings you can find there.

I just went through the open box section, and their aren't any great gaming laptops for a good price, but the items will change daily, and sell quick. If you decide to do that, make sure you look over the newegg open box policy and make sure its conditions are ok for you. For the graphics card, look for a gtx 640m in the open box section. If you see a 630m, know that it will perform about 50% better than intel HD 4000. Hope I helped.

1.9 GHz is scary imo.

Usually AMDs laptop quadcores have that as the idle speed when showing it on websites, it can go up higher when needed, similar to intel's i5 and i7 turbo boost, seems like theirs use Turbocore technology for speed increase.

Just looked at the details:

"Performing rigorous workloads can be done without breaking a sweat with the Acer Aspire V3-551-8469 Notebook PC. This notebook comes with AMD A8-4500M 1.9GHz Quad-Core processor with TurboCORE Technology up to 2.8GHz for thunderous processing performance."

Gaming PCs really dont cost that much unless you are buying it prebuilt. $500-$750 should be all you need to run any game smoothly

I play PSO2 on my laptop, usually max settings, sometimes with a few things turned down.

Just for comparison to the one you just bought. My laptop was $400 2 years ago.

Specs and model:

HP dv6-6135dx
2.4GHz AMD Quad-Core A8-3500M
6GB DDR3 System Memory
AMD Radeon HD 6750M (switchable graphics, CPU has a 6600 integrated GPU)
640GB (5400RPM)
Blu-ray Player
15.6"LED Display (1366 x 768)

The only bad thing is I had to mod my BIOS to disable the integrated GPU because games would not use the 6750m with it enabled.

That Acer isn't a bad one for $400 but it should be about $50 cheaper than it is.

It doesn't take 1000 to make a gaming PC. That's down right stupid to say so.
My PC costed about 650 and I've been able to run almost any game. You just have shop around for good deals.

^thiiiis! You just have to know what to look for, not be picky, and know where you can make cuts to quality/features such as RAM, cpu cooler, case, mouse, keyboard, monitor, motherboard (depends) and where you can't such as power supply (personal experience here), gpu, and cpu.

Both me and my one of my friend from high school are running PSO 2 on 500-600 dollar Asus laptops. With standard graphics.

I got the Q500A-BSI5N04 for 600 it was 650 before best buy dropped the price.

While my friend bought his a year earlier then me ( forgot the model number of the laptop though)
for about 525

You really don't need a high end laptop to play PSO2 just a well built 500-600 (if it is in your budget area) laptop is good enough if want to play with standard graphics.

hey guys its me again, i wanted to tell you guys i got my awesome laptop on friday. im still waiting on pso2 to finish updating before i can actually play, but i ran the benchmark with high textures and simple shading and it runs amazing. if i put the slider on 2 or 3 it runs at 30fps so its not that bad, but i'll just keep my settings at where it was at previously because that seems to run the best for me.

benchmark runs much worse than the actual game so the actual game should run a little faster for you
