Playing in Japanese Parties (Guide)

Hello. This is Emizel/エミーゼル from Ship02.

PSO2 has a pretty big English community, but since the majority of players on our server are still Japanese (Japanese server), I was thinking we could compile a small guide for playing with Japanese players.

Warning: I don't have any major credentials. I am an American teenager with a Japanese instructor.

However, I think this could help some people. Even though there are plenty of English teams available, sometimes you just want to jump in and play in a pick-up-group and all that's available are Japanese parties.

Note: I'm not teaching you conversational skills, just simple words & phrases to get by in a Japanese PSO2 Party.

Advance Quests

When doing Advance Quests with Japanese players, take note of the instructions in the Party comment.

全埋め

Kill everything in the map.

道中

Kill along the way (take a straight path to the end).

You might see instructions like:

エリア1全埋め。エリア2道中

Kill everything in area 1. Just kill along the way in area 2.

カプセル各自

If you see this in the party comment, it just means for everyone to pay their own capsules.

リスク=(Advanced) Risk

If the Japanese Party leader asks about リスク, he is likely checking for who has the highest risk.

The party leader might ask a similar question to this.

みんなのリスクはいくつですか?

What is everyone's risk?

Check your current risk for the selected Advanced Quest.
You don't have to reply with anything fancy.

Reply:

"27です" (or just "27")

It's 27.

If you have the highest risk, you will likely get passed leader. Restart the quest with your risk.

Party Greeting/Phrases

Usually when entering a party (especially with strangers) Japanese players use:

よろしく (or some variation)

It basically means "Nice to meet you/Please take care of me".

If you're partying with Japanese players, you should make a hotkey for よろしく/よろしくです or something along those lines when joining.

おめでと

Congratulations. Use it when a party member levels up or gets a good item.

ありがと

Thank you. Use it when congratulated, maybe if someone uses a Moon Atomizer on you... etc.

If you need to go to the bathroom, just keep it simple and say:

トイレ (or) wc (or) トイレ行ってきます

Toilet / Water Closet / Going to the toilet

When you throw down a Telepipe, might want to give a reason...

ドリンク (or) メイト

Let them know if you're getting a Drink (or) Mates

ただいま

I'm back.

おかえり

Welcome back.

Ending the Party

After defeating the boss or clearing the quest, Japanese people usually say

おつかれ(informal)

Good work!

Before leaving, you might want to thank the party.

PTありがとうございました

Thanks a lot for the party!

またね (or, maybe) またよろしくね

See ya! (or) Let's play again sometime!

Dark Falz

I've noticed a lot of people have been complaining about Block 20 Dark Falz runs.

Roleplaying/Symbol Art spam during the fight, 15min+ long Elder fights with no arms broken.

If you want to find a pick-up-group on a Japanese block for Dark Falz, try this

DFPTをさがしています

I'm looking for a Dark Falz Party.

If this thread is unnecessary, delete it.

I don't think I made any errors, but if I did, tell me and I'll edit it.

Also, tell me if there's any important stuff I should add.

There's no point in comments like this. Bring your drama elsewhere.

The fact that you continually break the forum rules by making new accounts (after being banned for constant rule-breaking, whodathunkit?) is unneeded drama in and of itself. Go away forever.

You mean the OP? Idk, this is some pretty vital information for playing with JP parties. Either that or play with the fucknuts upstanding citizens on block 20.

It's always preferable to play with your friends, but if you're in a situation where nobody is available and you want to join a PUG, Japanese players are pretty friendly and generally know what they are doing.

I made this guide because when doing Advance Quest in Japanese parties it's important to follow the leader's rules. English parties just clear all 99% of the time while many Japanese parties might mostly ignore one area or boss rush.

I made this guide because when doing Advance Quest in Japanese parties it's important to follow the leader's rules.

It's important in *every* party. Following what the leader says (or going elsewhere) is a matter of common sense, not a "secret" needed to deal with japanese people, as if they were somehow magical creatures.

As long as you speak japanese and you don't act like a complete moron, you're good. Read the damn room info and decide if you want to join or not.

That goes for all rooms, "even english ones" though. I've been pestered by a lot of foreign players lately. I can start playing in locked rooms, but that defeats the purpose of PSO(2).

That being said, it's good to see the information up there - I'm certain that many people aren't even aware of the problem in the first place.

It's always important to listen to your Party leader/group (regardless if they're English or Japanese...) but I have noticed that Japanese people set more specific rules/guidelines in their Party info and English players will ignore it because they can't understand it.

I reported you for spamming pornographic symbol arts. That's hardly trolling.

Also, stay on-topic. If I felt like staying anonymous, I wouldn't have written my character name in the first post. You can stop acting like you're geniuses by identifying me.

This thread has some good information. I play in JP AQs fairly often, so it's nice to see what all that stuff that usually appears in their party comments actually means. If OP wants to turn over a new leaf, I'm good with this as an olive branch. If not, we can ruthlessly mock him when he's actually being rude. I don't think we need to do it in here.

All I really know how to say with my limited knowledge of Japanese besides what OP posted is "I'm foreign".

Edit: Apparently, I can't do that right, either.
Oops.

The survival Japanese thread (http://www.pso-world.com/forums/showthread.php?t=195616&highlight=survival) is also useful, and along the same lines as this thread.

P.S.:
Doesn't matter who posted it; if it's helpful, it's helpful. I'm glad that most are being level-headed here.

I would not recommend saying those. There's no point. They're also not written correctly.

If a Japanese person calls you a foreigner, they don't know where you're from. If you're introducing yourself to a Japanese friend, why not just say which country you're from? "I'm American", etc.

and if they're not your friend, they have no business knowing whether you're a "foreigner" or not.

I knew I would screw up somehow. I don't really speak much anyway when I'm in JP parties; i.e. only greetings and if spoken to. So how would I go about saying, "I'm from America" to explain why I'm, for all intents and purposes, basically illiterate? I do want to get across that I'm not from Japan.

Sorry, I was going to update this guide with translated instructions/direction for EQs/Falz/Time Attacks/etc. but the moderator keeps banning me.

I can't edit the OP because I don't have access to that account. Guess I'll just stop posting now.

I think for AQ info you should also list how you can tell which areas they're doing. I've joined some unaware that they were going to run tundra non stop or something. would also be nice to be able create our own parties with that stuff in mind.

I liked the idea of this thread, but the OP can't post in it or update it anymore, for obvious reasons, and even if he could, the thread would then probably have issues with flaming and/or trolling. (I'm not saying who would flame/troll whom, trying to remain neutral here)

Checking the thread (http://www.pso-world.com/forums/showthread.php?t=195616&highlight=survival) I linked to, it seems it's been dead for three months. I propose that we either revive and update the original survival Japanese thread (preferably after contacting its OP), or start a new one.

LOL you reported me ? well I also reported you for player harassment with pics mind you and it wasn't only me who reported you.. All you had to do was ask nicely to stop everyone did a "sexual" SA but you just wanted to point me out of the group.. which is fine by me. Everyone knows your a troll in B20.. And your tarnishing your teams name by being one.. just food for thought.. next time Black list and move on.. it's not my fault you can't handle a little Fresh SA..

anyway see ya on the ban wagon I suppose.. :D

私はアメリカ人です
I'm an American.

ごめんなさい、私は日本語がへたです
I'm sorry my Japanese is terrible/horrible.

You might get a bunch of this after saying those two phrases:

Okay, this is actually the one time I'm gonna cover for Emizel here.

To all those saying: "Ban Evader! Troll God! BURN HIM AT THE STAKE! MAKE HIM MISERABLE!" etc., there's a far easier way to get rid of him if he's THAT much of a nuisance. Just friggin IP Ban him or MAC Ban him. It's NOT that hard.... several forum mods in other forums do it all the time.

Also, this is good info that I wouldn't have had the courage to ask for, Emizel. Thanks for this.

My only hope is that the Mods don't go Stalin on this and delete it/lock it. Or worse, go Saddam on me for speaking nicely of Emizel (even if such praise is rare).

But yeah, thanks.

while it is helpful it is the mods final say so of what happens on the forum. Ive been around long enough to know that. Again its helpful but they get the final say most the time unless I give them skittles. Man I love skittles.
