View Full Version : How do YOU pronounce meseta?

Personally, I pronounce it meh SEH tuh (with more emphasis on the seh), but when I thought about it for a second, I realized that it would be reasonable to pronounce it MEH setuh (pronouncing the setuh part quickly). I was just wondering how everybody else pronounces it?

Meh-se-tuh for me. Kinda makes me twitch when I hear people saying Meh-say-tuh.

I just had to say meh-say-tuh out loud, and I can't say it without smiling or giggling. But it does make me want to facepalm if i ever heard anybody say it like that.

Meh say ta

Though, it being a Japanese word it's most likely meh seh ta. I probably should get into the habit of saying it like that.

MEH-SEH-TAH.

Easy for a Argie, like to say empanada, pan, cascote or pelotudo del orto.

Meh-seh-tah is how I pronounce Meseta, but a friend of mine calls it meh-say-tah and it stuck with me. I use either pronounciation now, but I prefer meh-seh-tah.

I used to say "mess-eh-tuh" but in PSU, one of the characters actually uses the word and pronounces it "meh-setta." While I'm not saying PSU's voice actors are the final word on the subject, I think it's the closest we have to official pronunciation.

Depends, when reading it in english (Meseta) meh-zi-tah I know, I'm a weirdo.

But if I'm reading kana (メセタ), I'll pronounce it meh-seh-tah

Basically, how I would say it if I saw it in spanish. English has a bunch of dumb rules which it never follows, but spanish is rather simple. Short e and a, and stress on the second to last syllable. I always assume this pronunciation when I see a non-english word, and it's often right.

「メセタ」

This is a better answer though.

I'm Brazilian so my language (Portuguese) has roots from Latin. The name seems to take heavy influence from Romance languages.

I'm a bit of a linguist and a polyglot so I know what I'm talking about.

meh-seh-tuh. In PSU, at the very beginning of Episode 1, Lumia say "My Meseta card is missing!", so that confirms the pronunciation of Meseta. Also, in Episode 3 of PSU, when you fight Howzer, he shoots Megid, and actually shouts "Megid!" in the form of "May-ghid". So.... Yeah.

muh(meh)-seh-duh

It rolls of the tongue easier than any other variation using "Say" or "Ta".

I used to pronounce it "Meh-see-tah" (yay me, lol) until I heard Lumia pronounce it "Meh-seh-tuh"

...Ok, fine. I kind of alternate between meh-seh-tuh and muh-set-ah. No real pattern to it.

I usually drift towards a word that is similar, in this case I pronounce it like vendetta, so I guess meh-seh-tuh. I love people that just entirely leave out a whole syllable in words.

It's a spanish word.

All my friends used to pronounce it 'Mesta' like 'Resta'. They also used to say "Dee-Roll-Lee". Ugh.

I know for years I pronounced it Mez-ta. That caused no end of people bashing their heads on key boards. Then I saw there was that inexplicable "E" in the middle of it.....funny I could have sworn it wasn't there before....
