View Full Version : Oh how I truly do wish someone would make a controller mod for this to work with PSO2

Just imagine, being able to bring all those hotkeys to this fantastic controller.... I would be the happiest dude ever.

The keyboard being fully functional would be an added plus, but those numbers 1-0 would be incredible.

Anybody here got the know-how to make it reality? ;)

It is reality.

I've used it on PSO2 - http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=726125

As of now, it only works with wired controllers, but they recently dumped all the stuff needed to make it work with wireless controllers - They have wireless working in Linux, and they're bringing it to Windows soon.

You just made my day (and night!)

I knew about the wired controller drivers, but everything pointed to the wireless controller having no hope at all. I have one of these chatpads, so I absolutely cannot WAIT for this to be ported over to Windows!

Woah ho, it works on wireless on linux? I don't suppose there's a way to go about emulating that on windows, is there? Or would it basically need to be put together from the ground up?

Anybody know if the chatpad would fit an afterglow controller?

Anybody know if the chatpad would fit an afterglow controller?

From what I can find, it doesn't.

http://www.examiner.com/article/review-afterglow-controller-by-pdp

Quote from this review "Finally, the bottom connection for the headset is different, having only the 8mm jack. Missing the two slots next to the headphone jack makes the chatpad worthless"

Also http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/showthread.php?t=304479

Just to confirm it, if you look at posts 8 and 9, they both say it doesn't fit.

Those are both old though (review is from 2010 and the forum is from 2011) so the controller may of changed since then, I don't know.

Hey AIDA, do you know anything more about this project? I mean the whole wireless Xbox 360 controller + chatpad being brought from Linux to Windows?

I'm anxiously awaiting to hear something about this!

That thread is years old, so I'm guessing we will never get it working with wireless.

UPDATE: Drivers for the wireless chatpad controller have been released!

typing this message up using the chatpad, so it works! unfortunately you cant use the gamepad as a joystick at the same time it seems,so its not much use to people wanting to use it in pso2

you can set keyboard presses for the buttons, and some settinng to set a ppjoy virtual joystick , but no idea if it would actually work.

AW MAN.

I'm so excited. I bought a Hong Kong knockoff wireless connector for 360 controllers, and I already have a controller and chatpad.

This will be glorious. I hope this thread gets continuously bumped so that
a) more people see it.
b) we get further progress updates on the driver!

They should just remake the ASCII controller for PSO2.

I never did pick one of these up, mostly because of the outrageous price during the time. Plus I was part-time and stuff at that age, so... I settled for the Datel keyboard for PSO GCN.

In retrospect, I think it was a good choice... that thing is quite hideous!

Could I use a wired 360 controller with the 360 controller keyboard connected to it?

This has been a slow project.

I remember I actually bought a 360 gamepad, like 6 years ago, with the chatpad thing too. It was wireless but the project wasn't too advanced yet on the wired side either. Eventually I got bored and sold the gamepad and the chatpad to a friend that had an Xbox, because I didn't really like it then. I got it with the idea to use it with PSU, but the game didn't have support for the triggers so I was short of 2 buttons.

It's surpeising that this hasn't gotten that much attention at all. A gamepad that is good quality as the 360 is, with the possibility for a full keyboard there, should be eyecandy for any MMO geek like us, but it seems not.

Also, very scumbag move from Microsoft's part to not to offer support for it on the PC. They advertise the console being very compatible with PC, but then they don't offer support for that. I don't really get that marketing move. Is not like people would buy xboxes just because of the chatpad, but in the other hand, they'd sell chatpads and controllers like popcorn if it worked on Windows.
