I remember seeing PSU screenshots such as this: (Not my screenshot) http://download.xbox.com/content/images/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d802534507e3/1033/screenlg3.jpg

That have those character faces next to the chat dialogue. I can't find how to do this in PSO2. :-?

Also, if it's possible, can you somehowly link them to gamepad buttons or not?

"/ci(1-7) (1-5)" is the formula to enter before your text.

Thanks for that Olaf, but is it possible to use a gamepad to display them?

Like can you change the Shortcut Words to accept (the apparently called) cut-ins?

If you can edit them...
maybe.
I don't remember seeing a gamepad option for that (If I say that, assume it doesn't exist)
but you could assign it to the keyboard in a convenient place and go from there.

The Quick Menu's Shortcut Chat is the only option for gamepad.

Otherwise, have fun arbitrarily mapping keys with JoyToKey for the sole purpose of chatting (and have fun remembering what button combination is what).

Screw JoytoKey, the Quick Menu's Shortcut thingie works.... and it does accept cut-in inputs it appears, and there are 2 already pre-set there.

Thanks everyone who was helpful ^_^

Oh...the hilarity that could ensue from that...
