FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Q: It keeps telling me to update a patch, even though I installed the latest one outside of the Tweaker!?

A: Go to the options menu and select the version of the patch you installed from the Override dropdown boxes :)

Q: Disabling the opening videos!? What do you mean!?

A: This removes the videos, so that PSO2 instead displays a black screen. I've noticed that when starting PSO2, it takes way more memory than it should to load the opening video - This disables it, so when it loads, just click 4 times (one click per disabled video) to get to the title screen. MUCH faster, and TBH, it seems like the game performs better as well. (Perhaps the movie isn't unloaded correctly from memory normally?)

Q: My game locks up before loading the Title Screen!

A: Try restoring the intros - This happens sometimes, and I'm going to blame it on SEGA's shitty coding.

Q: THIS IS USELESS AIDA. YOU'RE USELESS. GO DIE IN A FIRE.

A: Some people wanted this, some people are not tech-savy enough to mess with the data folder. Open this after every patch, check mark the boxes, apply and close. Bam!

So how would I go about getting it Aida? :P

Shadowth117
May 2, 2013, 11:34 PM
Two suggestions. Have it create a shortcut with the -pso2 attached so people who don't know what they're doing can just launch it like that rather than using your program everytime.

Second, have an option to swap the Vita and PC openings as well. Although... I wasn't aware there was a performance increase from their absense. I will have to see about that later.

After opening this once, I assume the effects are static until an update from sega?

I ask because some people use and still want to use the english launcher(like me). Would be nice to know I(and others) can still use that if I(they) use this.

Nice aida.

And i have a suggestion that i think every player would like. Make a button that lets you attack dudu and kill him, and once he dies everything you do to a weapon for 30 seconds will succeed 100% (can only kill dudu once a day).

Heh, I had some suspicion about those videos! And everyone I spoke to about it thought I was cray-cray. At least someone else can also be considered nuts. 8)

Thanks for this!

Thank you very much AIDA ^^ even though the intro/logos video remover thing didn't work for me. At first it kinda looked promising then at the 4th click or something, the game frozen and stayed like that for minutes (maybe it's something related to my crappy PC).

The traditional way still faster for me but this still it's very useful for removing the censor file ^^ thanks

The english patch part doesn't work for me. Whenever I load up PSO2 it's still in japanese. It says it extracted it but it didn't.

Did you select your PSO2 win32 data directory first?

Yep. I've got the right directory selected.

Edit: Could it have something to do with me using Windows 7?

Gama
May 3, 2013, 04:00 AM
Yes, because I really have nothing better to do. This is my first VB.NET program, so any comments/suggestions/tweaks you want added are more than welcome.

http://i.snag.gy/6W1Wg.jpg

A link to show you it's not a virus:
https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/9f5cceb207bc9f633f830bf5350020035b378a7950e2ed0375 252daa16f3b8c8/analysis/1367569726/

Detection ratio: 0 / 46

At the moment, it's features:

- Ability to remove the in-game censor (CLIENT SIDE)
- Ability to disable the playback of the opening videos
- Can undo any changes done with the program
- Launch PSO2 directly instead of through a launcher
- Automatically download the LATEST English patch, and install it for you.

Next version will support checking your data files, finding which ones you don't have, and downloading them via a very fast HTTP so that you don't have to do the whole huge filecheck and wait 2352355235 hours for 2 files.

Download link: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/23005008/PSO2%20Tweaker%2005-02-2013.zip

Remember to EXTRACT IT, then run it. If you don't, you won't be able to use the English patch feature.

----------------------

Q: Disabling the opening videos!? What do you mean!?

A: This removes the videos, so that PSO2 instead displays a black screen. I've noticed that when starting PSO2, it takes way more memory than it should to load the opening video - This disables it, so when it loads, just click 4 times (one click per disabled video) to get to the title screen. MUCH faster, and TBH, it seems like the game performs better as well. (Perhaps the movie isn't unloaded correctly from memory normally?)

Try running it as admin?

Hit "Install English Patch", then look at the directory where you have the program. Does a file called "EN Patch.rar" appear?

Yeah it pops up and then once I click ok it deletes itself.

It might be because the 7z program isn't running as admin. Lemme whip up a test version for you~

Punisher106
May 3, 2013, 08:15 PM
Are you talking about when you hit "Launch PSO2"? There's an issue with PSO2 where you exit the game, but it doesn't end the process. When you try to launch it, you don't see PSO2 still there, but PSO2 does, and prevents you from opening a second one. Look in task manager and end task "pso2.exe" if it's there. I'll write some code later to detect if this happens, and offer to close it for you.

If you're talking about PSO2 itself crashing, That's odd. Try restoring one video at a time, then trying again. Worse comes to worse, you can reverse all the changes you've made (except for the EN patch, but that's foolproof at this point.)
Well the game most definitely opens, and I get the little cursor that you'd see. But as I click, the game just does not respond, and clicking it enough makes it do that Windows whitening of the window to show it isn't responding. Reversing the changes and doing them again usually fixes the problem.

It does. Just extract both in any folder, right click and Run as Administrator, browse PSO2 Win32 folder (usually C:\Program Files (x86)\SEGA\PHANTASYSTARONLINE2\pso2_bin\data\win32 ), and that's it.

I wish program should be able to work selecting only SEGA folder. But after I figure out you have to go all the way to win32, thing worked.

Nice job. Always wanted a -nointro option for this game. Hope you can remove the need for 3 clicks in the future.

My only question is why is the vita/pc intro swap greyed out.

If I had to guess, if it's supposed to be implemented and working, he probably just forgot to set something on that checkbox to "True" (or would it be "False"? I'm not entirely sure) somewhere.

Using Win7 64-bit and it works here, thanks.
Careful not to use it on the precede folder (I did by accident).

Windows 7 (and Vista) removes or changes some minor functionality here and there that makes ordinary basic tasks vastly more difficult and time-consuming. They're not things most people would notice unless they really use their PC for a lot of tasks. I had to install tons of patches and mods to get most of the functionality back. It's just a pain up the ass.

AIDA you just saved me approx. 2-7 mins of clicking and loading :D

So curious: I don't think PSO2 has one but is there a setting file that you could tap into so its a bit "easier" to set things like graphic quality and resolution etc. and throw it into you magical little program? (Then I would never probably use the launcher ever again ^^)

Oh and I'm curious as to what the swap pc/vita intro is for?

I could, but what specifically would you be looking for? A "set all settings to absolute minimum" button? lol

pfft nah I want a "set all settings to absolute maximum so I can blow up my computer" button.

In all seriousness you have it set up where you practically replaced the launcher. All it needs is an "options" tab and it'd be set.

Also what I was wondering is if it'd be possible to set it so it'd show one intro 100% of the time (I would figure that making the one seem like the other would do this...)...or is that what that swap button is for?

Thanks for your work!

On the PSO configuration subject... an option to offer to switch between windowed and full screen may be useful ; I often crash with alt+tab (and lots of my team-mates also) and so the ability to go to windowed when I need to copy/paste a lot of Japanese names may be useful.

And concerning patches... can you do something about the big ones? When there's a game patch is horrible when you have the story patch, as you'll have to downaload tons of things, or thing everytime to have backfiles, a way to automate that would be very nice.

Narrillnezzurh

At the moment, yes. The story mode will be added later on~

Ah mk, I was going to say it didn't seem like it.
When you do add it that saves...another 1-2 minutes again

So grand total you saved za warudo about 10 minutes at an update (and a lot of clicking) and 2 minutes per launch of the game.

So let's say approx. 40-60 minutes (dependent upon how many opening and closing of the game there is) per week!

very nice AIDA+^_^+ i may try it out, as for a feature I'd like? along with DL and install of English patches, perhaps have it back up the original JP files to a directory of our choosing?? at the moment after a maint (or more like when I'm not on PSO2 day or 2 after) once a month about, I'll file check then back up any files that were modified/created on the day i did the file check, but those files get old after a couple weeks and iz very tedious+^_^+

I would like to suggest a new feature. The ability to change the music for a given area, or at least alter it to play different, like a pse burst being applied to the music the whole time or something.

I know I recall there being limitations to this, like when the darker den music could only be applied to skyland or something, and it had the side effect of playing the arms/elder boss fight music for forest. But I'm okay with whatever can be done. Mainly because I dig the darker den music.

Here's a quote of the post I'm talking about:

Want to hear the Darker Nest music? Use LINK REMOVED (it doesn't work any more) and go to the floating continent.

(It also has the Arks Ship Wreckage music over forest, and the combat theme's the boss intro music there, so beware).

Doesn't work anymore now, but there's gotta be a way to make it work again right?

Faster filechecks? Sweet jesus, I need that. Dunno why it takes so goddamn long with the regular launcher.

The only thing i can figure, and I'm not sure, this is just conjecture, is that the OEM launcher uncompresses each file and scans the entirety of the raw file for any missing, modified, or corrupt data+^_^+ that's the only thing i can think of that would make it take so long, unless it's scanning the files by comparing them in real time to a table provided by the Sega server, which has limited bandwidth and may suffer severe packet loss depending on distance and whatnot+^_^+ AIDA or one of the other EN Patch coders may be able to tell you why it takes so long+^_^+

Anyway, if you turn off the intro vid with this tool, does that also disable the vids in the lobby??

1st time using your tweaker tonight and i encountered a possible bug, it seems to be set to always on top and when i clicked install latest EN patch, the button for confirming it was all done was hidden underneath the tweaker, and attempting to place focus on the tweaker to move it seems to have triggered that windows "you must first hit OK on this window before focus can be applied" thing Windows likes to do sometimes, all the other confirm buttons seem to spawn on top of it, but all attempts to tun off it's always on top feature failed me, had to cancel it in tsk manager+^_^+ anyway, a toggle for always on top, if that is the issue, would also be a nicee addition+^_^+

@ AIDA, can you compile it with .net 4.0??

Just use the original PSO2 launcher file check :)

First, this program will download the latest en patch automatically, no updates needed from me.

Working on implementing a "backup before patching" system now, along with a few nifty features (which patches are installed, are there newer versions, download of story patch direct from the program, etc)

But isn't the tweaker will download the old English patch (the one before Episode 2 update)? If I'm wrong, my bad then :)

More nifty function, the better 8) , keep up the good work AIDA

I'm not sure if this has been brought up before so sorry if its a repeat. I just downloaded this for the first time...

Anyway I see this tweaker has a huge priority, so much so that when I start up PSO2 with it the tweaker window is still overlaid on top of the game screen/internet once everything starts. For the next version, if possible, can you make it so it can be minimized or perhaps moved? Right now I can't do either.

Still I do like this, and not having a huge amount of my comps mem eaten up by the game is about all I could want. 584k+ MB is too much for a game to run on. :\

KazukiQZ

^ You can minimize it, just press the Minimize Button on the tweaker. First let the game loading, then after few seconds, just click the Minimize button :D

Also, you can drag the tweaker by click and hold the left mouse button everywhere on tweaker EXCEPT the top bar.

I'd like it if the program would remind me what has already been done. Like a little check mark to verify that the program previously succeeded in doing any one of the listed functions. Maybe something toggle style? Maybe grey out options that had already been applied while enabling the option that reverses it.

I had noticed that when I launched the program it seemed I hadn't removed the intro videos, then remembered I had the last time I ran it.

Some problem I encounter using the tweaker:
-After done the check of missing files, the buttons for Do It and Start PSO2 suddenly can't be used. So I had to reopen it again.
-When using Install latest patch, it encounter an error which said ' Can't find the path in...' Solve this one by manually creating the file (folder name is TEMPPATCHAIDAFOOL, that's the real name, please don't get mad at me >.<). So the patch is working after creating the folder in My Document

Few questions:
-Does the English patch include Large File? What is the function of Large File anyway?
-Story patch is 2Gb size right? And the one in ark-layers.com is always the latest one right?

Few suggestions:
-If Large File is somehow important (or some people want it), you can apply the option to download and apply the Large File. That is after the updated Large File is released.
-That's it. Thanks for your hard work AIDA :D

Here we go. First off the launcher freezes after doing pretty much any task and has to be re-opened. Second off despite the program having errors it still says "Download Complete" when using the "Install latest EN Patch" button, but does not properly install the files as tested by using the "Launch PSO2" button after re-loading the program. It does not however become an "unresponsive program" after clicking the "Install latest EN Patch" button, nor does the program allow itself to be closed without bringing up Task Manager and selecting "End Task". The "Install latest Story Patch" button is also greyed out upon starting up the program, which is something I completely expected. I have not tried out the new "Fix PSO2 EXEs" button yet as I have no idea what it's future/current purpose could be.

I have experienced the same thing. I was starting the tutorial and everything loaded fine except I was unable to move.
I switched back to the japanese story files and apparently a box pops up in the Forest in the beginning of the Tutorial where a lady asks you something and you have 2 options to choose from. It does not load with the English story patch and I guess the game is waiting for you to make that choice which you are never given.
Anyway, I am still able to play with only the Basic English Patch installed which gives hints and, well, enables me to play at all, since I don't understand written Japanese at all and the spoken one like 1 out of 50 words so, yeah.
The thing is now that I have to play without the story being translated I really want to know what's going on :)

I am able to play with the basic 5-17 English Patch files. I have yet to experience any errors after installing Story Patch Files. I installed them last night and nothing changed, no glitches, no bugs, not freezing up during story missions. It sounds like the cause of people getting locked up in tutorial mode is having a new character in itself. I'm not willing to delete my character to test this myself. I am really looking forward to seeing the story. So far I've been watching it unfold untranslated on youtube.

Well because I don't read, I gave your tweak the "PHANTASYSTARONLINE2" folder instead of "win32" at first and it wanted to do a massive file check because it found absolutely nothing.

No way to cancel it that I could see, so I had to kill it.

Also why's it take so long to start every time? Well compared to the actual launcher it's really fast, but still...

Pretty neat little program

Cypher_9
May 20, 2013, 10:14 PM
I'm guessing you have Windows 7/8? Copy the whole PHANTASYSTARONLINE2 folder to the root of the drive, reselect the folder in the program, and try again. Windows 7/8 HATE letting programs affect stuff in the Program Files folder, it's actually quite frustrating.

Just got to this now and have copied everything to the C:... re-routed paths. Still nothing, though I am still gonna twork with this...

I am on Win 8, and I know what you mean about the OS not allowing changes to be done to files directly.... speaking of... going to try something...

But no, really, you should assess that issue.

Make sure you extract the PSO2 Tweaker application.

I never understood why some people run programs out of the compressed archive instead of extracting it first. There was a visual novel download I ran across in my search for something else this one time that was essentially just a zipped up directory that you simply extracted and ran out of the box. What was the common problem? People were running the .exe out of the archive and kept finding that their save data was gone each time they started it. Why? Because it would normally be stored in the program directory, but the game didn't know how to handle saving data directly into a compressed archive. Imagine their reactions when they realized they had to extract it before their saves would work correctly.

I mean, I'm really computer-savvy compared to many people in my general location (I have to help out people I know with their computer problems because I'm essentially the only guy they know that can (besides my dad and my older brother, both of which have smaller availability windows than I do)), so maybe my thoughts on this are somewhat biased but... why would you ever run something out of the archive?

It's like that one saying goes: "Just because you can doesn't mean you should."

@AIDA: How's the "Check for updates" function coming along (or did you finish that and your screenshot is just old)? That's literally the only thing stopping me from using this app, is the lack of that function. Oh, the things I would do.

Also, in your To-Do list in the OP, I noticed that you might've forgotten to change/remove something:

- Allow users to download new patches directly from within the program (Done for EN, working on Story Patch)

UnLucky
May 20, 2013, 10:37 PM
I never understood why some people run programs out of the compressed archive instead of extracting it first.
So much faster and easier to just click it open, though! Also a lot of stuff is standalone, but yeah if it's got a whole directory tree in there then chances are you should probably wait a minute for it to copy over.

Also the OS could just open it as a "compressed folder" that looks near identical to normal uncompressed ones, depending on their unzipping programs installed.

Oh, and why doesn't the "always on top" option save?

Maronji

It WAS working fine, but now it's throwing out random 403 forbidden errors. I think it's SEGA though, as the official patcher is messing up as well.
Dang. Hopefully that gets resolved soon, as that's not fun for anyone, really.

You still can't download the story patch from inside the program. I'd like to change this, but until I implement a practical way to do so, it's gonna have to be "in the future".
Oh. Okay. Just wanted to make sure. Come to think of it, re-reading it again, I guess something glazed over my thought process, so I'm not entirely sure why I felt the need to bring attention to that.

I guess staying up really late (aka until noon the next day, then sleeping for six hours) will do that to you.

The buttons should be rearranged, I didn't really touch this thing but I'm assuming that clicking "Install latest EN patch" will download it for you too? Which would leave out the large files and jp enemy names, correct? If that is the case I would replace the "do it!" with "Install Largefiles" and "Launch pso2" with "Get JP Enemy names". Then put "Do it!" in the top right corner and "Launch pso2" in the top left. But if "Install latest EN Patch" does Large files and jp enemy names then disregard this post.

It's not so much what you say, but it's how you say it.
He does have a point though.

Why is "Do it!" in the middle of a bunch of options it doesn't have anything to do with?

Clicking "Do it!" without selecting any of the checkboxes at the top does nothing. Clicking any of the other buttons at the bottom automatically 'does it' without having to click "Do it!"

In what order am I supposed to do the patches? Right now I am re-installing the game because I got an error screen at the start of the game and it booted me out.

I think somewhere along the way as I was extracting the Story Patch files to the "win32" folder that everything went berserk. In the middle of that process, I was prompted to "replace and copy existing file" or "create a new file with a different name" or something like that, and I picked the replacement option. Did I do something wrong?

In what order am I supposed to do the patches?
There is no order. They all have separate files from each other, so none of the patches overlap. It shouldn't matter.

Right now I am re-installing the game because I got an error screen at the start of the game and it booted me out.
...You probably could've settled for a file-check (third button on the launcher), downloaded way fewer files, and achieved the same effect (unless your game was that screwed up, in which case, I'd be more worried about your hard drive or internet connection integrity)... Just sayin'.

I think somewhere along the way as I was extracting the Story Patch files to the "win32" folder that everything went berserk. In the middle of that process, I was prompted to "replace and copy existing file" or "create a new file with a different name" or something like that, and I picked the replacement option. Did I do something wrong?
It doesn't sound like you did anything wrong. Seems like a standard patch installation procedure to me (unless you didn't make a backup of the folder/story files first (though if you're using the tweaker, it should prompt you if you want to make a backup first); then you screwed up, because the next time you have to file-check or the game updates, you'll have to download 1.5-2GB worth of files).

Basically, the manual patch installation instructions are like this:
[SPOILER-BOX]Required (only if using the Story Patch to shorten future file-check/update time): Make a backup of the files to be patched (or the whole win32 folder if you have the space and you're lazy, like me). Make sure that your folder is clean (aka you haven't applied any patches to it) before doing this or else you'll just waste time and HDD space.

Unpack the patches you want to use. They can either be in separate folders or in one folder; it doesn't really matter (hence there being no install order to the patches).
Copy the contents of the patches into the game's win32 folder. If you're installing the Story Patch, I sure hope you made a backup first.
When prompted, overwrite the files. If you don't, then your patches won't work. End of story.
[/SPOILER-BOX]

NOTE: When I clicked on "Check for missing files" a whole bunch of files were prompted and I had no idea what I did wrong. xD I feel so noobin' right now, but I want to get "tech savvy" and play this game! "North America release in early 2013" my butt lol
Did you point it to the game's win32 folder and not the main game folder? Despite the fact that it's very clearly written on the "Select PSO win32 folder" button, this seems to be a fairly common mistake (yeah, yeah, low sample size, whatever).

DaiEden

Thank you Maronji!

My hard drive and internet connection are both in great condition, so it can't be that. ^^

I tried that third button on the launcher and it said something was wrong, so yeah, I screwed up enough to have to re-install the game. It only took like 2-5 minutes for re-installation. :/

And yeah, I didn't see any directions anywhere about making a back-up (or I just missed those instructions most likely), but I'll keep that in mind.

I did point it to the exact "win32" folder. The path is like this, no?
C:/Program Files (x86)/SEGA/PHANTASYSTARONLINE2/pso2_bin/data/win32. This is exactly what I used.

You're welcome...

...but then everything seems to check out. Something went wrong, obviously, but I honestly couldn't tell you what, based off all that.

The only advice I can give you is to try the main English Patches (the Core and Large Files patches) first, then try adding the Story Patch after that. Of course, you should make sure your game loads at all first, but in theory, if everything's working, there shouldn't be any issues.

Just make sure you're using the latest versions of all the patches (5-22 for the Core and Large Files patches, 5-20 for the Story Patch). That would be the safest best (for now, at least).

This is what I keep getting. This long list of missing files. http://pastebin.com/CdU9CWmC

I did the Core mod, the Large Files, and then the Story patch and still I get this weird error (all the patches I tried to use are up-to-date). Any ideas?

(EDIT: I also tried running the game with no patches or anything and it runs smoothly. I have a problem with logging in though. I have already created the SEGA ID and all that, don't know what's going on. Every time I want to install the patches, something goes wrong. I'm really lost. Sorry.......)

Okay.... Well, do I need to update the game first before I do any of this?

(EDIT: After a lot of trial and error, I updated the game, put the patches, and everything runs normal. Now that I know how to do that, I will be using the launcher. ^^)

5/24/2013 Changelog:

- Check to make sure the right directory is selected (FIXED)
- Added an option to clear the log when it gets sort of huge
- Have it remember "always on top" toggle status
- Create a version that works for XP users (FIXED - Need someone to verify)
- Added diagnostic info to the log - People who say the extracting is done instantly, please post new logs from this version so I can verify the problem!
- Fixed the issue with not finding the update info - This *shouldn't* happen again
- Added a bit of info when it opens, so you don't think it's frozen~
Woo for a working version:beer:
Tried to see how the backup worked, so I only bothered with the Eng patch (Not story)
Got into a problem here: http://pastebin.com/tP3tLFPB
Edit: Tried with Story Patch as well, and same problem I think: http://pastebin.com/96Kg12X2 (this one's mixed with a bit from Eng Patch, was testing this and that)

And you mentioned "Need someone to verify it works for XP users", do you mean verify its executable or being able to do all the things you've put onto the Tweaker? Since I don't really use all of them.

If its just being executable, then yes, it works.

Okay so first off, I am very computer literate. Second, I have used the English patch since it's very initial release.

It was maybe about a week ago that I descovered AIDA's Tool. At the time I was in game using a slightly elder patch. (Was too lazy to update my ENG and Story patches but they were working full force anyway so I didn't particularly care. Now my team mates were discussing ENG patch and that eventually got me to updating just cause. I did that and updated story patch. Initially, aside from the fact the story patch was broken (Freezing during story quests), Everything was English. I closed my game and (After placing AIDA's tool along with the 7z.exe file into my installation directory (...\Desktop\PHANTASY STAR ONLINE 2\pso_bin\data\win32) which has been there since day one, I ran AIDA's tool. Looked VERY awesome, very sweet. However when i ran it it was like swiss cheeze. Full of holes, problems and flaws. At first I thought maybe my files were just beyond messed up cause after a bunch of things in AIDA's tool failed to do it's stuff, my game showed 0 signs of change. (Yes i choose the correct path.) More over. Everything was Japanese. I found it odd so I manually patched the game with the latest English files but when I loaded up the game (From the original JP launcher (And have used the English launcher a month after release once and never again cause i hated waiting 5 minutes for it to patch then unpatch when done) and found that everything was STILL japanese.

I then attempted (Via the 3rd JP launcher button) to redownload SEGA's official files and then repatch. Game, still japanese. to this very day that is my problem and they added a lot of stuff in the game so now...I'm suddenly playing the game blindly and am not too keen on it.

Does anyone know what I should do? Please keep in mind that I'm not an Idiot so please don't suggest text book solutions like "Press the 3rd button then repatch (Especially since i said i did >->) or "Uninstall and Reinstall" cause it won't work. How do I know? because nothing in my files have changed aside from AIDA's tool's additions. And if AIDA is as much of a genius as she claims to be and that her program is as flawless as can be...then that shouldn't be the problem.

I would've done as instructed and paste a log from her tool to the site but. About 500 error logs showed up. Some may have that kind of patience, but not me.

Also to whomever moved my thread to here, I don't think I'll get any help here as at the end of my post I stated that I reinstalled official SEGA files and repatched manually and still had the game in japanese so i doubt this is the Tool's doing.

Um hi, I'm new at the site so please forgive derpings I commit ><

I'm having some troubles with the game, i wanted to remove the video files like the crap at the opening of the game and...well i think removing them worked but when I played they were all still there. then after some time i used the tool's update feature and it took like two hours and must have found like...2 million missing files. I was kind of worried to be honest. I played the game mission 100,000 files or more and yet the game didn't seem to mind o.O

So anyway, I went ingame one day but instead of the sega logo, it...froze i guess.
I tried clicking and such but nothing happened :c

I tried restoring the video files within the tool but it said there were no back ups :/
The censor file is the only thing i can successfully remove/restore.

I added the logs I took from the tool if it will help.

Error Log (http://pastebin.com/ZvVHsski)

Now that i think on it, the tool keeps saying that it can't connect to something and that maybe it's broken.

I also tried swapping the PC/Vita openings and to my...well it worked...Idk how it can switch files yet not find and remove/restore it buuut...help? :3 I reeeally love this game and I really don't want to have to reinstall 8GB of data especially since this whole mess must of had me downloading much more then that in files worth
><

EDIT: Sorry...I derped. I just tried removing the files and it worked...which confuses me even more cause...gah @~@

EDIT 2: And now my game is forcing an File check? :/ I can't make heads or tails of this business lol..

Yes I put it to that cause for some reason there were a bunch of new files and another win32 folder so i was curious if maybe the directories have changed or something.

Might I suggest perhaps that you use an explorer window to find the directory instead of drop menus? For easy of access and such? Feel free to ignore ^^;

also I've been running the file check for nearly 3 hours now and it's maybe... 1/5th done u_u oh man my data bill is gonna be off the charts...

Anyway if this doesn't solve my problem then I'm quitting pso and praying Sega will unhate us and deliver us with a Western release lol.

Well I mean I'm the kind of person who gets...a bit TOO curious for his own good...so it could be possible that...maybe I did something..and...created those extra files...but for some reason I have no clue what that could be xD

I'm a tad air headed and I make really beyond retarded mistakes at times. And considering how I was tested and have an IQ of 187...it's not even funny how much I giga derp LOL

anyway the SEGA patcher says it's downloading. About an hour after my last post it went from
"Downloading: 36XX" to "Downloading: 5637"

Now I know I can't be missing all those files cause I ran the Update thing from your tool yesterday and it was downloading crap for literally 3-4 hours! xD

Also I don't know if this means anything, but I always manually patch my stuff cause I'm scared to death of automated stuff (Since my install directories are usually custom). but i noticed something weird. every time before i patched the game, the EN Patch files were always much greater then the original (It gave me a hint everything was good and smooth) but now whenever I patch both files are the exact same sizes, yet in game its Japanese?
o.O

Ik this doesn't have anything to do with my situation but considering how bad I am with luck and all things everything, I was wondering if maybe someone else had a similar issue?

Yeah so after maybe 6 hours of it downloading the files. It tells me at the very end that the download failed. I used up what seems like 30gb in 2 days only to be denied and forced to restart all over again. :/ I'm done with this game for a while.
Thanks Aida for your help but there's not much hope for this case :c

A: NAY GOOD SIR, IT IS THOU WHO SUCKS AT FOLLOWING DIRECTIONS. You need to extract BOTH files to the same directory, otherwise it won't be able to extract the file it downloads. *Hits you with a RTFM sign*
If so, do you mean BOTH the Tweaker and the 7z.exe? If the other one is the 7z.exe, no, I can't open it at all since the working version lol. It gives off the same ".... is not a valid Win32 application." message

Alright, so after the update, here's the new pastebin. Turns out I still get hit by an error. This time "The Operation has timed out." since I left it running AFK. Attempting a rerun now and will edit this post in the meanwhile.

http://pastebin.com/Lgq6vxKZ

EDIT - Looks like it hangs on file #15935. Attempting again after it timed out to see if it'll go further.

EDIT 2 - After hanging for a bit, the File Check finally completed, but I just get a Black window with this specific PSO2 install. My other install still works, so not sure if the file check worked correctly. Installed the English patch, tried again, still black screen. Will attempt the "FIX PSO2 EXEs" to see if it fixes it. The JP patcher is downloading files when PSO2 Tweaker stated it as complete [OK!]. Will see if this resolves the issue.

EDIT 3 -Alright, so using the actual launcher allows it to work and I now have a freshly installed PSO2. Problem is I still have no sound and it still doesn't appear in the volume mixer...Lol. What a bizarre issue...

As far as I know, this is a graphics reading error. I've gotten it several times randomly, and I don't have the Eng patch nor the PSO Tweaker installed.

My guess is that it's only bad programming on SEGA's end. Do you by any chance run on a nVidia graphics card?

Yes sir. Nvidia GTX470, and am using the most recent drivers that came out a few days ago...perhaps that is the culprit. I went ahead and installed the new beta drivers, I'll update with results in a more suitable thread most likely if it helps out.

You have put the UnRAR.exe into the same directory as the PSO Tweaker.exe? The Tweaker uses that .exe to unpack stuff, not your installed unrar software.

If you already have both .exes in the same directory I may be false, but I hope this helps you.

(Also have the line "7zip available: False" in my logfile, but guess that doesn't mean anything, as it works fine for me. Maybe this is associated with the old 7zip.exe that was used in older versions.)

Emberghost
May 29, 2013, 11:25 AM
Both files are downloaded in the same archive, but you are ment to unpack both of them and place them together into a normal directory. (Like the win32 folder of PSO2, but you can put them anywhere really.) Starting the .exe while it is in the archive won't work to full extend.

If you have unpacked both of them and put them into the same directory I have no idea what's wrong. //EDIT: Too slow of me.

Glad I could help. I just fixed it by moving the tweaker to the win32 folder and running it there.

Also, while doing that I noticed several of the files have the tiny lock icon indicating they are private but in a public dir, I assume those are the files the tweaker is downloading. I doubt it would cause any issues in most systems but I tought I would give you a heads up anyway.

What do you mean? I need more information.

Well it seems difficult to minimize and bring back up since it runs on top of everything. After awhile of minimizing and pulling it back up it just stops responding and windows has to close it. I'm not trying to be angry whiner or anything it just seems to work better when I'm away from my comp. If I'm trying to multitask it gets disrupted apparently. It might have been downloading a large file - I'll see about adding a download bar in there or something to let you know what it's doing.

One thing that has me alittle concerned is that I have alternated between the JP launcher and the tweaker afew times. Is this going to somehow mess up the initial patching causing these last two and a half days to be a waste?

Gave this a shot and a little sad that it doesn't support the precede downloads.
That's what's giving me the most trouble right now due to the crappy JP launcher forcing a filecheck every time I restart it due to connection being dropped.

Like you download the patch yourself and upload it on your own server for people that didn't download as soon as they could, or is it connected to like..the actual patch location?

Hey Aida, just wanted to drop in here and say thanks. I started the process of registering/downloading the game a couple days ago and it's been kind of a pain but I've noticed that a ton of the online information/downloads to streamline the whole process come from you. It is much appreciated.

Thanks ^^

Glad to hear I could help! What parts were a pain though? I'm guessing the SEGA ID registration page and such?

Feedback is important! :P

Yeah, definitely the registration pages. And then the updater kept locking up on me. The tweaker seems to be updating just fine as we speak. I'll be leaving for work here in a few minutes but I should FINALLY be able to log on tonight when I get home.

So does the tweaker restore backups yet, or do you have to do that manually?

I just wanted to say Thanks! for making this and continuing to put more work into it. After hitting the front page month after month hoping for an update from Sega with any sort of info on the western release, I decided to attempt playing again with the English patches and came to the forum to find out what I needed to do. I found this topic and downloaded your Tweaker and it did everything for me without any problems. Thanks again!

Thanks for the Tweaker Program!

I'm wondering though, why is it defaulted to Always On Top?

It seems that the program doesn't take much time to use, you can always maximize it if you need it, and once your done with it you can close it.
I always just un-tick that whenever I update the program, so I was just curious.

With that train of thought, I also have a suggested feature;
Either a tick-box; [ ] Close Tweaker after Launching PSO2
or a button; "Launch PSO2, then Close Tweaker"

Since I just close it after I'm done with it, I figured this could be something myself and others may be able to use?

Any idea why the original launcher poofed off my computer and this happend?
http://pastebin.com/chg1raKP
Also I seem to be having some wierd error that says that there's a application error, preventing me from playing the game. It keeps saying The instuction at 0x00f78975 referenced memory at 0x00000044. The memory could not be read. :x
Then forces me to exit.

Hi, I've new to this community and PSO2.
I love the Tweaker - it downloaded all my files in a less amount of time than the original updater!
But I still get an error, when I launch the game from the Tweaker and the original launcher.

I uninstalled my antivirus, I've made sure Windows Firewall accepted PSO2, I made sure I ran as admin, changed the compatibility to my OS, and yeah. Help? ):

This looks pretty useful. I downloaded the game last week and had a blue screen today because I'm sure I did something wrong. Once I get finish redownloading the original files I may get the tweaker and just use it to update. Sounds like a very nice tool.

B-but, that's what I did ;.;
It linked me to 1.5.0.3 for whatever reason. I got the right version this time but that was odd.

EDIT: Welp, AVG trashed my launcher file upon trying to boot up the game and it gave me some shitty memory exception when I told it to fuck off. I uninstalled it and tried to redownload it using the tweaker but...
http://pastebin.com/8m3fjLYw

I forgot how fucking awful it is to try and reinstall this game.

EDIT EDIT: And... it's working now. This game makes no sense sometimes.

So i have 2.0.0.4 but when i "check for PSO2 updates" this tool tells me there are 6k files left.
it downloads it but not in the win32 folder (which this tool knows where it is), no it downloads it to C:/

When i click on "check for missing files" i only get this error http://pastebin.com/pb8tNCXZ/

Game does start i see sega screen but when i click only black screen appears and cursor reappears in the game window.
Whats this

Cant access game options menu in the tweaker its grey'd out.

Seems like this shit isnt working at all.

What's the directory you have selected?

C:\Program Files (x86)\PHANTASYSTARONLINE2\pso2_bin\win32

This... is actually my fault. I'm not sure why I had changed it, I just fixed it, I'll upload the new version ASAP. Sorry about that!

thx for fixing it :P

It worked - Just click 4 - 5 times and the main screen will show~

I have to try later cuz i need to redownload the game, my launcher was deleted somehow AND I GOT SICK OF THIS SHIT :(

It's not available yet, that's why it's not enabled.

OK so i installed the whole thing and the same shit happens with the game.

I can see the Segalogo, the nvidialogo, the intro.
But then BLACK. I can hit alt+f4 and hear the game asking to quit and i can select with keyboard arrows but i dont see shit.

Is this fixable, i tried many options in the graphics options of the game but no success.
This game is so terible.

Regarding your program.
IT EATS THE LAUNCHER.

What exactly does it fix? didnt find information on it.

I'm missing 6k files when i check current installation, which is after the regular updateing process.

The download server are made of wood :(

EDIT

OK SO AFTER THE DOWNLOAD OF THE additional 6,7k files (with dl speed of 0.3 MB/s ø) the game finally gives me shit to play.

fucking shit :P

Hey Aida,
I got a weird Request for ya:
Could ya put in an option to un-automate yer magic thing so it doesn't automatically update stuff when I don't want it to?

Also an option thing so I can tell it where things are, cause it's saying it can't find game's exe files and patchlists. Though I think something just blew up cause it's been so long since I last updated the game.

Also is it just me or is it no longer being contained in w/e folder I put it in...
I'm seeing what I call registry files on my desktop (files with numbers and letters that seem random for names)

Again, no idea what you're talking about. Try taking some screenshots? ^^;
I think he's seeing patch files on his desktop since they are kinda named with bunches of numbers/letters right?

It doesn't "automatically" update anything. o_O Could you be a bit more specific, sorry ^^;

Not sure if this is what you're talking about - But there's a button called "Select PSO2 win32 folder". That sets where everything is.

Again, no idea what you're talking about. Try taking some screenshots? ^^;

- It doesn't update things automatically? I thought it did...

- Anyway I figured out what my problem was: I think I managed to push your program to the limit because last I played pso2 was was a few months ago (and that was when your program was ver. 1.3)

- And what I was talking about was not the win32 directory, but rather where the game exe was. I had an error in yours that said it couldn't find it and it was looking in the wrong place something like C:/Users/[mynamehere]/[somethingmore]/SEGA/[something]/PSO2.exe and I had it under a different folder than where it was looking for.

- I guess I was asking for more for a manual over-ride for some functions.

- But I figured out it was what I said before. It completely flipped out when I tried to update from so long ago. So I had to use the standard launcher/updater to get it to work then it worked flawlessly again.

- but in a shellnut: I was looking for like a...debug mode and/or options/config file for your program even though the log window is pretty much that...

definitely an options file would be nice with a true false thing so I know what has been done before and what Is about to happen...

probably talkin laymans' terms and talking in circles for something that has much better technical terms and is much more straightforward.

I think he's seeing patch files on his desktop since they are kinda named with bunches of numbers/letters right?

That's most definitely what I saw. I call anything that looks like files that are found in a registry (or what's in the win32 folder for PSO2) registry files ^^;;

I love this and whoever participated in the making of it, i finally managed to patch my game with this because for some reason the launcher was so freaking stubborn D:
