In his attack animations? I have looked up and low on google but can not find his only Dragon Ex. Does anyone know all the attacks and things he is saying.

here are the phrases in japanese:

ハッハッハ
耐えてみせよ、破滅の一撃
応えよ深淵、万象破砕のその力を
我が眷属よ、ここへ
全力で潰すのみ
刮目せよ、我こそダークファルス・エルダーなり

Off the top of my head, I only remember "Hahaha!", "Good, good!", "I'll crush you with all my might" and "Watch closely, for I am Dark Falz Elder!"

...or something, I'm not really paying that much attention. XD

"Hahaha!"

"Kotaeyo shinen, banshou hasai no sono chikara wo!" ("The power of the abyss, shall destroy all of creation!")

Only missing the "I'll have my revenge" for the cheesy ass cartoon lines award.

Zyrusticae
Jul 4, 2013, 05:30 PM
His line about destroying "all of creation" (or the universe) is hilarious considering how weak he is in-game.

Though to be fair, he's split into hundreds of different pieces being fought by thousands of ARKS simultaneously.

It's still sad, though.

Gardios

Personally, I'm more worried about him wanting you to pay close attention to his butt-smash.

What the hell Elder, I'm not into pointy butts.

Actually if I remember correctly in PSU AOTI, Dark Falz (being modeled after De Lo Re) had a second form which was basically a Dulk Fakis which had the same signature attack.

Even if its not brilliant lines, its very interesting to know what he says!

Does anyone know what Goran Zoran says?
One girl kept thinking he'd call her "a b*stard" when you knock him off his chair. Annnd listening to it it doesn't sound 100% wrong. People always joke that he says he should of went on a diet when he was defeated. It's def. enough to make me curious...if someone's figured out Falz, maybe this guy too..

Or the dragon EX...that guy seems to have a lot to say as well. Is he a person?

Yutaka20
Jul 4, 2013, 11:10 PM
well the cheesy line actually brings out some form of character into elder.
if u watched the vid after u defeat falz
that guy which emerge out of it.
he looks just like the kind of guy that loves"bragging " his power
so those lines kinda reflects at how arrogant he is in a way :3

Jul 4, 2013, 11:23 PM
@gama I agree, he seemed a bit more threatening when he was this giant, mindless, THING that could just up and take over your body upon defeat, couldn't be killed, and, if you did manage to kill his host, only gave him a free shot to relocate elsewhere and start the whole damn thing over again.

well hey, at least it wasn't as bad as PSU...specifically psp2...that...that story...there aren't enough negative words in this language for me to adequately describe how I feel about the writing for that game.

I don't understand why they can't get a skilled mangaka or novelist to write the story for them.

Seriously, there's a lot of good writers out there... they just don't hire any of them. :/

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KG1ziCvLkJ0&t=3m49s

Aside from that I think outsourcing a talented writer, who may or may not be busy with other stuff wouldn't exactly be efficient. Would it be a long term job? Many online games are expected to push out a decent amount of content in their lifetime, so if that includes story, do they just keep hiring the same person every time they want to make a story update? Do they go through multiple people and risk the story being inconsistent (Mabinogi has been having problems with this and their directors)? Do they hire the person to write the whole story from beginning to end without taking into account changes in gameplay that might need to be reflected in the story? What if something needs to change? What if something unplanned happens?

It's a lot more complicated than just outsourcing a writer. Now, don't get me wrong, I do think the writing could be better, but they should probably work on getting better in-house writers.

Also I agree with everyone saying it's better than PSU's story. Holy shit that was a mess.

Isn't that quite simple?

He doesn't say much. From what I hear, he just goes "Arriving, Arriving" when he spawns, "Recover, Recover" when he regenerates his barrier after being downed and I don't remember what he says when he dies.

Dragon EX's lines can be found in the big boss thread in the guides section, and Noir Draal's lines can be found in the jp wiki.

As if fighting it in PS4 wasn't bad enough you want to get whooped by it a second time? It would just be an endless string of lovecraftian boss battles. On the other hand there would be no better place to spam those silly Kyubay and Madoka SAs.

Actually, I think Loser's lines are the following (Rien posted these, before, I just cleared things up)

[spoiler-box]Black ball spam: 「アークス風情が!」 (ARKS fuzei ga!) "The likes of you (ARKS)!"

Speed up mode:「あまり煩わせるな、面倒だ」(Amari wazuwaseru na, mendou da) "Don't pester me that much, it's a pain"

Basic Sword attack: 「くだらぬ抵抗だ」 (kudaranu teikou da) "Such futile resistance"

Slow down mode: 「さて、片付けの時間だな」 (Sate, katazuke no jikan da na) "Well, time to clean up."

Hand slam shockwave: 「全知は僕だ!僕の導き出した解に間違いはない!」 (Zenchi wa boku da! Boku no michibiki dashita kai ni machigai wa nai!) "The omniscient one is me! The revelation I have reached is not wrong!"

Teleport rapid stab: 「壊れた玩具には用はない!」 (Kowareta omocha ni ha you ha nai!) "I have no use for broken toys!"

Upwards stab: 「底は知れている」 (soko wa shire teiru) "Know the abyss"

Clock Miraged: 「式にゴミが…!?」 (Shiki ni gomi ga... !?) "Disabled by trash...!?"

Arms/beak broken: 「未知の事象だと!?」 (Michi no jishodato! ?) "Some unexpected events!?"

Time Stop line 2: 「深淵と崩壊の先に、全知へと至る道がある!我が名はルーサー、全知そのものだ!」 (shinen to houkai no saki ni, zenchi he to itaru michi ga aru! Waga na wa 【Loser】, zenchi sono mono da!) Beyond Abyss and destruction, a path to omniscience exists! My name is [Loser], the one who knows all!

Rotating swords: 「演算の必要もない!」 (enzan no hitsuyou mo nai!) "There is no need for calculation!"

Black Hole: 「無意味だ無駄だ愚かしい、滅びろ消えろ宇宙のゴミが!」(muimi da muda da orokashii, horobi kiero uchuu no gomi ga!) "Such futile, meaningless tomfoolery. Be wiped, trash of space!"

Double sword sweep: 「見え透いた回答だな!」 (mie suita kotae da na!) "Such a predictable answer!"

Yeah I saw those before, I linked the thread where Rien posted them in my previous post.

My translations are more literal, but I also looked more closely at wording/sentence structure and found out some meanings in some quotes are slightly different from what was posted before. (Which I only found out after playing 2-5 in japanese )

I spent all day up until now working on an in-depth explanation of every character's meaning and how it affects the sentences only to decide halfway through that it's way too much effort (and poorly used effort at that), so...

Sorry! You can look these things up yourself. Like I did.

I think hiragana or katakana "fun" is probably just a generic "hmph".
If it meant something, it'd probably be in kanji.

At the same time, I know SEGA has a habit of making stuff uncool, so I guess I can't be 100% certain.

止めだ

Are those taken from the JP swiki? I can't clearly hear some of the samples, but you're sure that's not "todomeda"?

According to wiki, Profound uses that line when he/she places the left hand on the platform and fire multiple energy balls using the right hand at players.

P.S. At Taiga, you are absolutely right that the line is 止めだ(todomeda), which isn't the same meaning as halt or stop but as in "This is the end/finish"

Both Elder and Loser have their own quotes when attacking, and usually enforcing their own name when unleashing ultimate attacks (butt atk and time stop).

Double though... just laughing creepingly, and as far as the trailer shows, Apprentice only... uhmm... making some creaturelike voice that I dunno what species of.

Anyways, Vol will quote "Onore!!!" (Why, you!!!) when it starts to repair da broken tail.

Dec 7, 2015, 11:50 PM
Oh. Didn't know "todomeru" was the same kanji as "tomeru" and "yameru".
Confusing. Thanks for clearing that up.

I remember when Dragon EX came out, JP people on the livestream were saying that Dragon EX talking is uncool.
I also think it's kinda cooler and more intimidating to have a raging wild beast instead of some guy who just keeps talking.
Similarly, I think PD would be way more intimidating without any speech. Or even just speech in an unknown, ancient language.

Noir Drall is super cute though. But since that's the rare version, it's probably okay?
Now that I think of it, I'm really glad most of the other bosses and mini-bosses don't speak.
Can you imagine Ragne, Wolgarda, Decol Maluda, Zeshirayda chatting us up? Or Rockbear, the Banthers, Caterdran.

Anyway to look this stuff up? I just slapped it into Google Translate and copied the given romanji, but I noticed this isn't always accurate before, with the name of PD's EQ being another example of something that comes out butchered.

Though uh, I can't find anything that actually indicates that 止 can be read as toda.

--

On the topic of voices, Falz Dourumble speaks normally, but Dark Falz Double does not because it's mass-produced. Much like the clones produced by [Double], personality is distorted and lost so all Dark Falz Double does is reuse giggles from Falz Dourumble. Dark Falz Apprentice Gia similarly doesn't speak because it isn't [Apprentice] at all, just her DF body. [Apprentice] Doppelganger is a proper clone of [Apprentice], so it talks. A lot.

I personally don't see what the problem with voice acting for bosses is anyway. It helps them stand out for the ones that do have it, and all bosses that can speak are capable of speech anyway. The only enemy types capable of speech are dragons (telepathy), titans, and Dark Falzes, and those are all members of intelligent, sapient races. It would be uncharacteristic for things like Dragon Ex, who is clearly themed after a medieval knight, with all the connotations to speech patterns that would warrant (like announcing a challenge to duel when he spawns on the field), to be mute, when the entire rest of the planet's enemies are sapient.

And PD is Persona anyway. Why wouldn't they talk?

raialeus
Dec 8, 2015, 01:08 AM
Sorry LonelyGaruga that was my typo.
The hiragana here is とどめ (todome), and when you kanji-ize it, it becomes 止め or 留め.
It's easy to recognize that as to-me or ya-me but in this context Profound is certainly saying とどめ.

LonelyGaruga
Dec 8, 2015, 01:18 AM

Yeah, it's todomeru not todameru.

"Waga kenzoku yo, koko he." ("Come to me, my kin.")

what does he mean by my kin? is it us? persona?

raialeus
Dec 8, 2015, 03:56 AM
Waga kenzoku yo, koko he (我が眷属よ、ここへ)
The word 眷属 (kenzoku) here is translated as kin, but to be more precise, it is a word that is used to describe the underlings or messengers of a god-figure.
In this case Dark Falz is the god-figure, and so "kenzoku" is referring to the Darkers that Dark Falz control.

Before I go on a tangent, Elder here is referring to his summonings of Elder arms.

I'll put the pronunciation alphabetically, but please note that English and Japanese has quite different style for pronunciation( basically, Japanese characters only have one pronunciation fore each while English characters can have many pronunciations. e.g. 'o' uh oh oo Plus, the 2 languages use different vowels and consonants..).

Also, please note CV39 uses an elegant, pompous, quaint style of wordings( can't convey it well with my awkward English).

愚か者め oroka mono m'e

'め' in the last is for showing disdain

塵芥 chiri akuta
dust, rubbish ( the original line sounds a little strange in Japanese, though)

露と消えよ tsuyu to kieyo

露 dew 消えよ imperative form of 消える vanish + よ for commanding

侮るでない anadoru d'enai

侮る look down + でない negative

痛くなどない itaku nado nai
It doesn't hurt (at all).
痛い hurt + など undervaluing the former word + ない negative

よかろう yokarou
fine, right then
よかろう approval to something

万倍返しだ manbai ga'eshi da
You'll pay for this.
万倍 ten thousand times + 返し return + だ showing emphasis, assertion

よってたかって…ずるいぞ yotte takatte ... zurui zo
Beating me up all together.. It's not fair.
よってたかって all together (has negative, unfair connotation, combined with words like bully, tease, etc.)
ずるい unfair + ぞ showing emphasis, assertion (sounds a little childish)

とくと思い知れ、我が僕の力を!tokuto omoishir'e, waga shimob'e no chikara wo!
That will teach you. (Learn the power of my servant!)
とくと carefully (only used in this kind of word combination)
思い知れ imperative form of 思い知る realize
我が my 僕の servant's 力 power

貴様には過ぎたる技だ kisama ni wa sugitaru waza da
Was it too much for you? (This is too much for you. You don't deserve to take this.)
貴様 you (with disdain)
過ぎた excessive, superfluous
技 art, skill, an attack using a particular style

* 露 dew is connected to frailty of human life in Japanese. Having transient, melancholic, connotation.

Probably the one you couldn't get was 蟷螂の斧よな(とうろうの おの よな tourou no ono yo na). Directly translated, it means axe of praying mantis, which is an idiom derived from an ancient Chinese tale. The basic image is like a praying mantis trying to attack a man recklessly. It is used for looking down on your opponent, showing disdain for the recklessness of your foe( googled a bit, but the original story probably didn't have negative meaning, a little curious if the idiom is used in China. Maybe it has positive meaning?).

よな in the last is for expressing a strong inner feeling coming out of your heart. Or confirming yourself, like "Yeah, it is surely xxx". Grammatically, it is called 詠嘆, but I can't find a good translation for it( usually not translated).

@Maenara
Luckily I had cv99. The number corresponds to the "/vo x"'s x part. Note that this cv's lines doesn't use formal Japanese, using a little boyish, wild, frank, childish wordings.

1. くらえ > Take this! /どっせい > (Doesn't have meaning, just a shout. Used for heightening(?) your fighting spirit. Maybe "Here I go!" or something fits the feeling of it. /おりゃー > (same as left. If in it's original form, オラ it's used for intimidation. Typically used by yakuza gangsters.)

2. そこ > There! / みえみえ > You're (attacks are) so obvious!

3. そーれっと > a variety of それ, a shout typically used for throwing something. In this context, っと is used for adding a light, speaking without deep thought, spontaneous flavor to the former word.

4. やらせないよ > やらせる let someone do something + ない negative + よ calling/ trying to get attention/ confirming etc. (yes, it's ambiguous) How about "I won't let you do that".

5. -

6. ちょっ タンマ
ちょっ > abbreviation of ちょっと a little( though, when used in a context like this, it is used for complaining about what the person you are talking to did)
タンマ > an informal way of wording タイム time-out. It will fit in a situation like a child complaining about your move in chess. "Hey! Wait!" or something?

7. よし、仕切り直しだね(shikiri naoshi dan'e) > "Well then, lets start again." 仕切り直し restart, doing 仕切り( the starting part of a match in sumo wrestling) again.

8. あちゃー、やっちゃったよー "Oops, it seems I did it wrong!" (I feel terrible for my translation... XP)
あちゃー > an exclamation used when you made a mistake.
やっちゃった >(やる do > やってしまう doing something unintentionally > やっちゃう frank style of the left >やっちゃった past form of the left) did something wrong/bad unintentionally.

9. よーし、見せつけてやろうじゃないの "Let's show them what we have!" (There is no 'them' or 'we' in the original line)
よし、よーし > well then or something like that
見せつけて + やろうじゃないの > 見せつける show off, make somebody realize your power/ intellect/ skill etc by showing it to them. やろうじゃないの is for emphasizing the intention of showing off.

10. これがアタシの力だよ! "This, is my power!" _(:3」∠)_
これが > this is
アタシ > informal form of 私 (watashi) 'I'. Sounds like not much sophisticated, maybe it's just me. Commonly seen in real life. Used 99% by female.
力 (chikara) > power
だよ > assertion, emphasis, getting attention, etc. Basically it is same with だ (assertion) but だよ is a little softer and is conscious of the person you are talking to, I think.

11. これで終わりだよ! "This, is the end (for you)!"
これで > with this ("This is the final blow", "I'll end you with this")
終わり > end

While we're translating voices, anyone know what Guar Zigmorde says, particularly as she's screaming bloody murder when she dies?

Copy and pasted off Swiki
グアル「何故じゃ…このわらわが…わらわがぁああああ!!!」
アガタ「あぁっ…!まだ足りないの…もっと…もっとぉぉぉおおお!!!」

My rough translation
Guar: How.... you... I'm..I'm!!! (I think この is used here to reference you like you bastard type of deal, not entirely sure but I think it gets the point across as Guar definitely thinks of herself as high and mighty.)
Agata: Ah.....! Still haven't had enough...more...moooooore!!!

...このわらわが here is more like "...How can I (lose/be defeated)" この here is used to emphasize herself, in the same way how things can be emphasized in english by the usage of THE (Ex: boss, THE boss).
わらわ is a pronoun mostly used by higher class females in the feudal government, like the princesses

Thanks!

By the way, does that confirm that that 99 is just a boyish female voice? I had one of my friends tell me that the voice uses a masculine-form word, so it must literally be a male voice that sounds somewhat female, but I don't know the first thing about japanese so I can't call him on it.

I've much to learn, thank you.
I figured that was the case with わらわ, knew it was feminine and archaic.

Yes, I think it's a female voice solely because of the use of アタシ. The line basically uses rough words, illustrating a boyish girl.

Though, you can still interpret it as a boy's voice, gender confusion in animes and mangas are commonly seen thing( dressing like a man, dressing like a girl, hermaphrodites, etc etc..). Or you can interpret it like a boy raised like a girl or something( a little hard interpretation since the lines use rough words..).

It depends on the interpreter, I think.

Are we on the voice ticket thing still? (´・ω・`) Could someone kindly transcribe/translate vo9 and vo10 on male voice 38?
Also for vo4 (はいはい、無駄にがんばらない) what exactly is the meaning of it? I thought it was something like "ok ok, don't try too hard", but I just want confirmation.

(Since I know, like, nobody has male chars here, here's a video)

Couldn't find the scripted lines anywhere, it's strange when you can find all the female ones online

Vo9: 種もあるし、仕掛けもあるけど、全部秘密だよ
Translated: I have seeds, and I also have tricks, but they are all secrets (to you)
This is an alteration of the saying in Jpn "種も仕掛けもない" meaning I have neither seeds nor tricks, to emphasize "I am not planning(plotting) anything"

Vo10 そう熱り立つなって、やりたくなっちゃうだろ
Translated: Getting all worked up like that, you make me want to go serious too (...or a more direct translation is "I am going to want to do it" buuut let's not make it sound homo)

Vol4 could be translated as Yeah yeah...I won't try too hard

There's already a nice translation, so I'll just add some trivia.

種も仕掛けもない > It's a cliche used when performing magic tricks. (No tricks here! Believe it or not, it's truly a super natural phenomenon!)

For Vo4, I would prefer Kayarine's translation. Vo4 sounds like "Ok ok don't try too hard( your effort is useless anyway)" considering it's intonation and other lines. If I was said like that in real, I would be surely pissed off.

Lols for vo10. It's so BL-ish.

Thanks for the scripts and trivia! I wouldn't have managed to figure out the meaning by myself even if I did somehow make out each word. _(:3」∠)_

Yeeeeah vo10 is funny but I still love the intonation.

Well, if this is starting to be a thing to find out Voice Line translations, I wouldn't mind finding out what is said for each Voice with this ticket: 女性山本玲ボイス
