View Full Version : What do you think of the Mine/Canabin Trick?
I see so many people loving this trick, and recently saw a post by Tigereye on PSOW, detailing exactly how to do it. What I'm curious about is, why is this trick looked at as the best thing ever, while duping is frowned upon? Technically, they're both exploits in the game; doing something the game wasn't meant to allow you to do. I'd be a hypocrite if I were to hate dupes, yet open-arm welcome this "Canabin trick."
It doesn't really make sense to me, so I'd appreciate some comments/thoughts.

Can you link to where the Canabin Trick is?

For Yoda and anyone else who's interested, the canabin trick is where you find a canabin circle, rafoie it to death, pipe to town before the red one goes away, pipe back down, kill again, repeat.
As for my opinion on this, I don't find it to be any kind of "non-legit" practice. Comparing this to duping is like comparing a kitten to one of those crazy ass worm things from Dreamcatcher.
I wouldn't be surprised if the people at ST put the canabin trick in and the mothvert trick in purposefully, but made them hard to discover.
I don't see why it's so hard to compare. They both seem like exploits. When you kill a ring of Canabin, the Canune dissapears seconds later, and never reappears. Unless you pipe quickly to town. Almost like a mild, very mild form of experience modification without use of a code device.
I've heard of forces getting over 435K in less than an hour. Would it be feasible for ST to allow that and "hide" it as an easter egg for us to find and enjoy?
It may not be as community-influencing as dupes is, (ruining the trading economy), but if it is an exploit, it's the same as duping. It's just not as hard to dislike since it doesn't directly affect you or anyone else except the person doing it. I thought it was interesting while reading posts, seeing people who dislike dupes, yet used this trick. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif

Yes, it is very boring. I've done it a few times to gain a critical level or two but can't stand to do it for more than ten minutes. Plus it's impossible for rares to drop once the first ring is destroyed so there's another negative for it. This really can't be compared to duping since you do make sacrifices to performing the trick.
It's also been in the game since v1, along with the TP for rare monsters trick, so either ST is too lazy to fix it or they don't give a damn if players waste their time with it. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

It is boring. I'll tell you that. These kind of issues will always have a gray area. Some will support it, while other won't. The same could be said about TPing for rare monsters. All that I'll say is, each to his/her own.

Wouldn't Razonde or Gizonde work better on the ring of Canabins instead of rafoie? And if you kill like 4 or so canabins, can you pipe up then back down and have a fresh circle?

No, because the canune has resistance to fire whereas the canabins are...

So you rafoie the ring, to kill the red one, and the green ones survive? Then what do you do? I'm trying to level up to kill Vhard Falz, so I need this...

No, I think you have that backwards. I think what they're saying is the red one has resistance to foie techs so it won't die. But the green ones will so you TP out real quick before the red one warps out then come back and they're all back for some more butt whoopin'.

It's cheap and cheesy, but I wouldn't consider it cheating.

The real trick is not getting bored...
I'm glad I was given, by (your)god, the power to do the MOST repetitive thing for days straight. And thanx to Jah, I'll probably have enough dope to make it seem interesting for hours aswell...

how do I do the TP trick?....
I think the canabin trick is lame, only cuz it works for FO's a Humans....I use droid chars and my HU/FOmans are higher levels cuz of that trick...and I dont have a psyhco wand or prophet motav to boost my RAfoie so I must hit the canabins like 10 times in Ult mines, my MST is only like 1030 at lvl 66....so im sure those FOnewms or FOnewearls who use RAfoie merge (hmm i bet the merge would help me) level faster than other FOrces. LMAO! its so funny cuz a girl I used to know sworn that she found like 30 common rares from doing that trick for hours, which i never found anything, but as someone said, u cant find anything after the first batch is gone LOL! so thats so funny to me now that i think about how she lied.

I am for the Mines trick. I don't find it a cheating way at all. Maybe sega didn't intend to have this in the game as a way to level up, but isn't this better then going around hacking your level and duping all kinds of stuff? This is just a good way to level up your character fast. There is nothing wrong with this trick.
Ive never done it, but whats wrong with it, how on earth is it cheating?
If thats cheating so is joining a game thats near a boss fight, killing the boss, leaving and repeating.

It's not cheating. It's bending the rules. Duping is breaking the rules. ST has done nothing to stop it, so they don't see it as a threat. It is the same as the pipe trick. You give one thing for another. Pipe trick, you are giving up exp, to find a rare, canabin trick, you are giving up any chance at finding rares, for enhanced exp. And yes, both are boring as hell.
mmm sounds easy exp for the pc pso gamers since piping for us is just literally 1 second..

Out of all the posts here, this one has the best point, in my opinion. I overlooked the fact that according to the TOS, duping is cheating. The same does not apply for the Mine trick, though. I still look at it as an exploit, but it's not outright cheating.
Also, they've done nothing to stop it because they can't do anything to stop it. Unless they'd be stupid enough to re-create that whole US V1.1 deal, mimicking the JP event. Not that they'd really want to do anything to stop it, anyway.

Well, they could have stopped it with the v2 disc or GC PSO itself but they didn't. People were piping back in the original DC version as well though it wasn't as popular since you couldn't find rares in quests then.

I really love this little trick... don't think its very much of cheating just figuring out how to get passed a game. Gettin from lvl 100 to lvl 104 in only a while is acctually pretty fun. Downside is it takes time but it is worth it

keep from getting bored,
so assuming most people aren't like me and I have a very unique set up of having 2 TVs next to one another if you have Picture in Picture you can watch TV while playing even while you're teleporting, or if you have a lap top, watch some divx while doing the trick
I've never done the trick as I just don't have time, but just a suggestion.

Curse you with your... Money... *mumbles*
But seriously... If it's in the day, and my parent's are up, and not in a bad mood. I'd probably end up practicing Accordeon/Bagpipes while doing the canabin trick... And then I'd go make our neighbors leave...
Heh... Would work for me atleast...
I could write short stories on a typewriter at night! See, ya don't need TV to keep from getting bored while doing the canabin trick! You can make your own fun!(As I am forced to do -_-)

No grey area, you are meant to kill enemies just once, there are no maps with 25 000 canabins in them, anyone who wants to be taken seriously as a level 200 player needs to have a lvl 200 hucaseal or other non tech user, such as Vampire or oshi (jp) they sorta laugh when told of americans using canabin trick.......and to admit using it huh....just keep it quiet cause few are impressed with players who level that way.
