Make your character look like your favorite NPC! [Update 12/28 - Added Azanami]

Ever wanted to look/sound like your favorite (fleshie) NPC? Now you can! Simply download this pack (<Link no longer available>) and extract all the files to your My Documents/SEGA/PHANTASYSTARONLINE2/ folder. (For Win7/8 users, that's Libraries -> Documents -> SEGA -> PHANTASYSTARONLINE2).

Once you're in character creation, select the same race and gender of the NPC, then click "Load Data" and select them :) (If you're doing this from the makeover shop, you'll need to already be that race/gender combination).

Most data also includes the recommended voices. For example:

Aki u07p0 - This means that it will look like Aki, and suggests you use Unique Voice 07 with a pitch of 0 (default pitch).

Brigitta s13p0 - This means it will look like Brigitta, and suggests you use Simple Voice 13 with a pitch of 0 (default pitch).

Echo exF06 - This means it will look like Echo, and suggests you use Female Extra Voice 06 (which you'll need to purchase in-game).

Obviously, the looks are only part of the character, you'll also need their outfits! Here are the recommendations from the original uploader's site:

Please keep in mind that some of these outfits may need to be recolored with a color change ticket to match the original NPCs outfit!

I would love to but I have never managed to clone Ravelle (besides the fact that you need the middle mop hairstyle that goes around 2 mil).
She is tricky to clone too, because she is always facing to the window, and getting a front close shot can be difficult.

I honestly wouldn't mind seeing your take on Break from Episode 3 as well. Would be pretty cool since I haven't played as Break since Blue Burst and I could go for a good alt character.

Using http://aigahoshiidake.blog.fc2.com/blog-entry-34.html as a guide; I tried to make an Io clone. I'm not some master at the CC but I love to use it and learn more about it. I tried this as a small test and I was wondering what the PSO-W community thinks of my progress.

The colours are not exact to the guide but I used Paint Tool SAI to try and get them very close. My main concern is the body and facial features the most and hopefully; I didn't butcher them. The reason why I'm posting this here is because I would love some criticism (otherwise, how will I get better?)

But still, here's the file. There is probably a better attempt than mine out there but I have yet to find any Io .fdp files to this day.

It's alot easier for you to judge for yourself how close you came to an Io clone.

Use something with a straight edge while your game is fullscreened to compare the dimensions, and positions of sliders to the pictures on the website and you should be fine.

Yup, I've seen some Matois and Apprentices around. But since they're cutscene-only NPCs (although Matoi is a quest NPC in the story), it's harder to be accurate and so nobody has published sliders/character fies. And in Apprentice's case, the exact hair and accessories weren't even released yet.

If you're interested in making either from scratch, I suggest taking many screenshots from different angles of the NPC in question. Try to take closeups of the face and far away for body proportions. For Matoi it's easier since she's available in the lobby pretty early on.

Once you're in the character creator, switch tabs a lot to your screenshots. Place the screenshot window exactly over the character at the correct angle and alt+tab a few times to spot any differences, big or small.

Make test characters on an alt account to see if the colors and proportions are right outside of the salon and such. For Matoi you can take a screenshot at the same spot as the real Matoi for the same lighting for comparison.

Good luck if you decide to do it! Replicating a character from scratch is hard work, but it can be fun to play as a favorite NPC. ^^

This one might be a bit connected to the ending of story mode episode 2, where you go back 10 years ago(?) (dunno if I'm correct with this) afaik Zeno in present time is around age 22? or 23? For people that can't copy the sliders on the NPC Cooking blog, try using an image overlay tool! It places any image semi-transparently over your active windows. Just place the slider on top of the in-game slider and you can copy it exactly. (windowed or virtual fullscreen recommended for this)

This is also the easiest way to make NPC clones from scratch too. If I didn't have this, I don't think I'd have managed to make Luther from scratch.

The program I use is called Image Overlay Utility, if anyone is curious.

Yeah, I'm not sure why SEGA picked that face type. She looks so different from her PSP2i counterpart with that face. I personally prefer the other version the guy made as well.

I wouldn't mind seeing someone take a crack at trying to use the youthful face (default face) variant on her.

I have a Theo clone too, so I checked the recipe. The face seems pretty accurate, but I had to edit the body a bit (mostly arm and leg lengths.) I suggest double checking stuff like that before using the recipe. ^^

Since NPC Cooking (http://aigahoshiidake.blog.fc2.com/blog-entry-71.html)'s version is 201cm tall, I made my own body sliders from scratch. [s]Face is a mix of my own efforts and reference from NPC Cooking. I further edited face now for more accuracy, so I think it's fair to say it's my own effort now.

If you copy the sliders on a cast it won't be 100%, but it should be close enough.

For Katori's item list, should be something like this:

Hairstyle: 編みこみハーフアップ (Braided Half Up)

Accesories:
1. ホワイトエアリーリボン (White Airy ribbon). But I use the recolorable version instead, which is エアリーリボン.

2. オウカカザリ雅 (Ouka Ornament Elegant). But since my other character already use this ornament, I decided to use....Haha, Cirno didn't have the item and I'm most certain that the item is not from any AC Scratch (Reward item of some sort). Will post the name later, but the accessory is the red rose on the left side (from my picture)

3. ３連ピアス (Triple earrings). But hey, my character is humarl, so it won't fit her, so I don't use it (Or fit awkwardly lol)

4. 二本アホ毛　中 (Double Ahoge Medium). I think this should be the right size haha

Make-up:
1. Natural Make-up (available by default)

2. 泣きぼくろＢ (Tragic Mark B). Mole under left eye. But last I check this was 5m (might be abit cheaper now) so I went with the cheaper alternative, 泣きぼくろＡ (Tragic Mark A), which is the mole under the right eye lol

3. For eyes, I think I used 縦長瞳　大 (Vertical Eyes L). But I'm not sure hmmm

Fun fact: My character name is 'Puteri' which means 'Princess', and I do thought Katori as one lol. Coincidental rhyme I guess xD

Depends, what NPC are you interested in? Most NPCs with recolorable outfits had their outfits released with the right color already, so you can just buy the right one. If the right color is too expensive, there's no way but to take a screenshot and play este hell. An overlay program makes cloning life much easier.

Rupika is the default female newman 3 in the salon. Just pick that when creating a new char.
Or manually change the face/body presets to 3 if it's an existing character. Her accessories are default and you can buy the right outfit at the NPC costume shop.

IIRC light green Little Prim, green Honey-whatever and orange Zelsius are all the actual colors the NPCs themselves wear. Just scroll a bit through listings I guess, if you see multiple outfits in those same colors, they're the right ones.

I have [Loser], but due to lack of two tone hair, newman heterochromia and real accessories, it's pretty much a red-eyed Luther with red earrings and a different outfit... ^^; I tried really hard to replicate his ear pieces even with the ep4 accessory rotation/scaling, but nothing looks good.
Also [Loser]'s skin color is a lot more pale than what a newman can pull off. So it's impossible to ever make a 100% [Loser] clone even if all the tickets and costume were released.

Here's what I use on him in addition to the usual Luther stuff:
マギアイヤリング紅 (last time I checked this went extinct from ship2, use レッドフェザーピアス as a replacement)
ディーラースーツ影 (closest thing to [Loser]'s outfit with the tie, gloves, tailcoat)
カテドラルステッカーＢ (closest thing to the Dark Falz emblem on their outfits)
夜光瞳 小 (optional, it's really only for referencing [Loser]'s heterochromatic eye [black sclera/glowing iris])
And make sure to make his eyes red.

asqvenkl actually found the character preset for the various NPC ingame, and is making a mod that change the preset with sega's own preset.

Currently only some human male/female have been released, but more character are planned.
