Welcome to the newly designed JP PSO2 Maintenance Thread! :-D

After much careful planning out of future updates to the game, I have found a much better method of updating you all with new maintenance information through this thread. What does that mean for you? Well, it means no more having to sift through multiple maintenance topics to find out more information on what has been updated!

This is how the new maintenance thread works:

In the first post (http://www.pso-world.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3042731&postcount=1), the content underneath the separator below that finishes off this opening post details all information from the latest update.
The second post (http://www.pso-world.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3042734&postcount=2) is a collection of guides, help content, warnings, and other useful information that pertains to these updates.
The third post (http://www.pso-world.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3042736&postcount=3) actively changes to show three main forms of content: videos, screenshots, and news of upcoming features. The information in this particular post is updated every Friday, collecting together all of the big news that relates to Phantasy Star Online 2.
The fourth post (http://www.pso-world.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3042740&postcount=4) is an archive of all content updates that will go as far back as one year of maintenance.
Lastly, the fifth post (http://www.pso-world.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3042743&postcount=5) contains thanks to all news sources and people that help make these updates possible for you all to see here on this thread! Highly recommend checking them all out! ;o

Guides

PSO2 Registration Guide (http://www.pso-world.com/forums/showthread.php?t=210236): A guide created by AIDA to assist you with creating your own SEGA ID that is used to play the game.
Captcha Ensyklopedia (http://www.pso-world.com/forums/showthread.php?t=203925): Stumped on a Japanese Captcha Boss? Syklo's got you covered with this handy guide that goes over all the details you need to know about Japanese Captchas to become a Captcha Master yourself one day. d(*o*)b

English Translation Patches/Tools

PSO2 Episode 2 English Setup File (http://www.pso-world.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2983399): An English version of the Episode 2 Setup File made by AIDA that is slipstreamed with the latest updates for Phantasy Star Online 2.
PSO2 Tweaker (http://www.pso-world.com/forums/showthread.php?t=207248): A tool developed by AIDA and other members of the PSO2 Tweaker development team that is used for installing the English patches developed for Phantasy Star Online 2. It is a more stable launcher to the game itself, and it can also be used to launch the game and fix any errors received that may prevent you from logging in normally! \o/
English Story Patch (http://www.pso-world.com/forums/showthread.php?t=206387): The English Story Patch can be downloaded by using a torrent program (we most recommend uTorrent for this). This patch translates all essential story-based content. This includes, but is not limited to, story quests, matter boards, and event fields.
Item Translation Patch (http://www.pso-world.com/forums/showthread.php?t=206198): The Item Translation Patch can be enabled only through PSO2 Tweaker. It is used to translate all items in the game from Japanese to English in a flash! You can also switch between the JP and EN item names at anytime by using the Ctrl+F1 shortcut key while in-game. Nifty, huh?

Desert Team Room and Sporty Costumes on September 25th

Open up the Spoiler Box below to read the article!
[SPOILER-BOX]September 25th Update Video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=2bjLUBXPBjY)

On Wednesday, September 25th, PSO2 will be receiving an update that will add a new team room, story quest, 11* spellstone shop update, and more!

New Team Features

Desert Team Room

http://bumped.org/psublog/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Desert-Team-Base-450x253.jpg

http://bumped.org/psublog/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Desert-Team-Base-2-450x253.jpg

This new team room incorporates Planet Lillipa's look-and-feel with this bleak desert environment that is surrounded by rocky mountains where Lillipans live. Out of all the other team rooms, it has the largest change in elevation.

Team Bulletin Board

http://bumped.org/psublog/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/TEAM-BBS-450x253.jpg

The new Team Bulletin Board will allow managers to leave messages for members of the team. You will be able to access it only from your Team Room and you can use it without spending Team Points (TP) as long as you already have a Team Room.

Hint: Try using this board to help notify fellow members of the team of meet-ups, recommendations for quests to partake in to complete Team Orders, and more!

Extreme Quest: Ruins and Oceanids

http://bumped.org/psublog/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Ruins-and-Oceanids-450x253.jpg

The third Extreme Quest will feature a mix of Oceanids and Darkers. Just like the Coast field on Planet Vopar, the Oceanids' behavior changes with the time of day. This quest in particular is slightly more difficult than the previous two quests, so it is only recommended for seasoned players (yum!).

Autumn Sports Festival AC Scratch
The following items are highlights of items that will be available in the newest AC Scratch:

PSO2 Collaborates with Puella Magi Madoka Magica

Open up the Spoiler Box below to read the article!
[SPOILER-BOX]http://bumped.org/psublog/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Madoka-Collab-PSo2-450x249.png

This will be a lovely bit of news for everyone. SEGA has just announced an all-new collaboration with Puella Magi Modoka Magica at the Tokyo Game Show. This means we can expect to see new costumes for Modoka Kaname and Homura Akemi (a Weapon Camo), and a Kyubey MAG. All of this content is planned to be released soon in a late October update to Phantasy Star Online 2, so stay tuned~[/SPOILER-BOX]

Super Hard and Seabed Preview

Open up the Spoiler Box below to read the article!
[SPOILER-BOX]http://bumped.org/psublog/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Super-Hard-PSO2-450x252.png

The all-new Super Hard mode will be coming in an Early October update. Here are things you should know about the new difficulty:

Super Hard: Forest ~ Floating Continent

Upon release, the difficulty will only span from the Forest to the Floating Continent due to the level cap. It is unknown at this time what level or client order prerequisites will need to be met in order to unlock the difficulty.

Unlike Hard and Very Hard, Super Hard acts more on its own, introducing somewhat of a 'Second Tier' of ranks, so-to-speak (the first being Normal, Hard, and Very Hard). This means that the difficulty itself will play out much differently from previous ones.

Here are some notable changes for Super Hard mode:

Enemies will move faster and have buffed up attacks.
Bosses have had their attack patterns changed.
A new type of infection core will be introduced that can perform various actions.
Falz Arms can appear in regular fields.

http://bumped.org/psublog/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/New-Skills-October-450x250.png

New Level Cap: Level 65

New skills for each class.
It is unknown at this time whether or not a Skill Tree Reset Pass will be included with the Super Hard mode update.
New Latent Abilities.

New 10* Weapons and Units in Super Hard

http://bumped.org/psublog/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Franka-Change-450x252.png

Other Features

Franka will now wear a Chef Apron.
New cooking-related weapons will be added into the game. The return of Akiko's Frying Pan, anyone?
New Emergency Trial: Defuse the Time Bomb!

http://bumped.org/psublog/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/tagamikazuchi-450x250.png

Tagamikazuchi

Tagamikazuchi, a new rare enemy, will be added into the game. It looks like a rare variant of the Fang/Snow Banshee.

New AC Scratch: Ultimate Fighter

http://bumped.org/psublog/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/New-Emergency-Quest-450x250.png

New Emergency Quest: Lead Border Break

In this Emergency Quest, two Cougar NXs can appear.

http://bumped.org/psublog/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Seabed-450x249.png

Seabed (Arriving in November)

Along with a set of brand new Oceanids and Bird Darkers, Seabed will also have the following as bosses:

http://bumped.org/psublog/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/bird-darker-boss-450x251.png

Decol Maluda: A Darker boss that spins around like a top.

http://bumped.org/psublog/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Meduna-450x251.png

Biol Meduna: An Oceanid boss that uses both electric and laser attacks. It bears a cross between a jellyfish and an octopus.[/SPOILER-BOX]

Oh man i cant wait for super hard (well, actually I've been waiting since june when they updated the road map), 4th level of darker mutation adding a whole holy s*** factor to seeing a boss spawn with it on and of course, the new falz hand duel code....
Just as long as there isn't the same issues with the very hard exp curve, but i think sega learnt from that one

Yeah, they are really treating Super Hard mode as its own separate 'difficulty' this time around. Hard and Very Hard just seemed like very slightly modified versions of Normal, with the only notable difference of Very Hard over Hard being rare enemy appearances.

I'm glad that SEGA is finally taking the time to give us something we should've honestly had in the first place. XD

Ugh. What the hell. I was hoping they'd have the Madoka Magica hairstyles, but not if they're auto-equipped and likely unusable with other stuff.
PSO2 has a serious lack of braided hairstyles.

There's no news post about this week's maintenance in the pso2 page yet though, for all we know it could be a maintenance that starts earlier or they could even skip maintenance this week, so, I think it's better to only warn about maintenance when we get confirmation in the pso2 website about when it's going to happen.

Servers are currently down for maintenance. Translating the update info from SEGA's website right now, so it should only be another thirty minutes~

Sorry about the delay there, everybody!

As a note, I was a bit too early with bumping this thread for the maintenance update as Ezo pointed out, so I will start waiting until we get the update post from SEGA's end for future updates. To assist everyone in the future, I will do my best to keep up with SEGA's current server maintenance schedule and make a separate guide that will go over the details of maintenance periods and how they usually run for the game.

Yup! Server maintenance always falls on a Tuesday night here in the West. The times posted above are according to JST. I used to post the EST conversions, but I felt like doing so would leave some people who are in other time zones in the dust; would you all like me to start posting those again as a reference point?

Haha! Those Google Translations. :-P

Thanks, I'll pull up the article on PSO2JP now and translate it. Those "Search" quests are all "Explorations". I'll translate it to correlate with the English Patch.

Man, I always forget when they go down.

So do we know what this will hold? New Quests, CO's, etc.

Nope, it's just a minor update. Usually, these minor updates only hold new Client Order Campaigns, Boost Event Information, other campaigns, and bug fixes. I can go ahead and setup a meeting with Vol anytime you like, though. His next open timeslot for a Friday feasting session is at 9:00 PM EDT.

Does ship status ever say "Maintenance" when there is a maintenance? At this point, I'm reading the "Unknown" status as "Anything from maintenance to IP ban or PSO2 shutdown", and "Maintenance" as "Anything, but most definitely not maintenance".

Whether the servers are down for maintenance or not, they never read differently than "Unknown" because there is no working connection to the servers themselves at the point in time that you loaded the list. :)

Any possible new content is limited to new bugs, because PSO2 updates once every two weeks, and we had an update 7 days ago.

Yup! :D

Edit: Ricardo beat me to the game again! He's been getting faster with his updates. Be sure to also check out Bumped (http://bumped.org/psublog/) when I'm running a bit late with the updates. Ricardo is really fantastic with getting this update info out to everyone and definitely deserves much praise for his hard work! http://bumped.org/psublog/pso2-jp-maintenance-and-campaigns-10302013/

There is one bit of info related to Daily Orders in this update. SEGA issued an apology for there lately being less than the normally alotted time to take these Daily Orders on their website. A correction for this issue is underway, and it should be fixed by the end of this maintenance period.

Awesome! We have alot of rare and EXP boosts coming up.

And thank god we're finally getting some Falz schedules again! It's been too long since i fought him.

And Trick or Treating EQ's? Interesting.

November 1 & 4 are good days for running Aqs for excubes and Xqs for stones. I used up my last 250% rdr a few hours ago on Xq Tundra/Mech. I still have a day of farming Aqs for excubes before friday and I still have plenty of 50% tri boost left. So it'll be like 300% rdr + 50% tri boost on those days for me.

A much needed thread indeed. I usually rely on people freaking out about game inactivity to get maintenance info usually.

Because passing the required amount of falz arms leads to the falz elder EQ, hence why they don't specificity state its planned elders. (in-case, ya know, the ship fails hitting the required number xD)

Been waiting for more planed falzs, been saving up aload of 250% tickets to waste on it :3

Has a ship ever failed to kill enough arms to trigger Falz Elder?
If so... what happened? In terms of the quest itself, as well as the reaction from people who were trying to get Elder?

On ship 2 one of the very first appearances was bugged, so even when the counter was (apparently) hit, the quest just didn't appear after the arms finished. Much to the dismay of the people wanting to fight him - so I was told, anyway.

A ship that is empty when Dark Falz Elder strikes is very unthinkable :D

Doesn't it come back up on 4:00 AM EST? In that case I won't be on.

It's scheduled for 4:00 AM EST but that doesn't mean anything. I hope it's soon, though.

I hope not. I just launched PSO2 so I could login when the servers are up. Usually, they're up by now.

Extensions happen or they will inevitably break something during the downtime forcing an emergency maintenance later down the week.

It's usually the latter of the two, so the experience is mostly short lived.
