The Arks celebrates Christmas from December 11th through January 15th with a Christmas themed bingo card and emergency quest. During that time, Saint Mr. Umblla, and Saint Rappies will also appear across the fields. Christmas Xie will be handing out client orders, and if you clear them you’ll receive a lovely weapon camo as a reward.

Other Changes on December 11th

- Persona will now drop items more often.
- In order to prevent players from accidentally deleting their characters, it will now take 24 hours to delete a character. You can also cancel the deletion process during this time.
- Some client orders will have higher rewards and will be easier to complete.
- Daily Orders will increase from 5 to 8.
- At the AC Shop you can purchase a feature that can temporarily increase the amount of client orders you can hold.

On December 18th 2013, PSO2 will release a highly difficult multi party emergency quest. The goal is to defend three large towers from an onslaught of Darkers. The Darkers will attack in waves that become more intense as you progress.

Energy crystals will appear on the field which can help net you some points when acquired. Once it reaches a certain value, you’ll gain access to some defense weaponry such as the “Photon Particle Chair” and the “Burst Barrier.” Use these powerful weapons to change the tide of battle.

The Wave Results screen will appear at each wave that ranks players based on how much they contributed to the quest. This score is based on several factors such as the number of enemies defeated and the amount of crystals you acquired.

Instead of items dropping on the spot, you can receive enemy drops by destroying the container that appears after the quest is cleared. As a little extra fun, you and your comrades can check each other’s “codenames” such as “Base Watchman” or “Crystal Master” based on the play style during the quest.

Dark Bibras is a huge bug-type Darker with large appendages and horns. The biggest threat towards the base are these bomb-type weapons that explode after certain amount of time.

Goldrahda (Gordrahda)

Gordrahda is an interesting bug-type Darker that has the ability to learn and create a weapon similar to the one its victim has equipped. (Not sure if it’s a direct copy, but it seems to be based on the weapon type.)[/SPOILER-BOX]

Dash forth and stab the enemy. When charged, it can perform three additional attacks through the arrow keys.

Also let's see how arkz winter coat looks on normal body proportions... or if it just makes that little kid's shoulders retardedly wide... (which means you'd need tiny shoulders for it to look normal, or it'll look retarded even if you HAVE tiny shoulders...)

edit: Also maybe both those bow PA's could be combo'd together.

The easy solution would be to implement something like in EVE where they give you a 24 hour countdown when you first delete a character, and you can cancel the process anytime during that window.

I hope that winter coat won't be fucked up by some weird detail again, that I couldn't see in the trailer... if not, that's the best outfit they've released so far.

Also, that Darker that kinda copies your weapon looks interesting. So like, could it use a Twin Mech and hope through the air with it? That'd be funny to see.

I'm pretty sure the reason why it's only now that we're getting timer before deletion in pso2 is because we used to only have 1 free character spot. Being locked out of game for 24h because you wanted to re-make? That would had hurt back when pso2 launched.

I was really excited about this EQ, up until they said this about it. It was bullshit enough in tower dc'ing or glitching and losing out on rares, but an entire EQ's worth of drops that isnt just a single boss?

I wonder how they are gonna program this loot crystal, will it all be generated on the spot (as in, you kill a kardha, its 'drop' gets sent to the table at the end, counting boosters active at the time etc) or at the end of the quest? Is everything going to contribute to it or will it just be bosses? (Lets face it, you kill 300 spawns and it generates 300+ bits of loot at once people are gonna DC or drop out, the lag on falz crystals is bad enough sometimes....)

Bummer for those who got bad connection or dc'd on new EQ, if there gonna be a sandstorm on it will get some people to lag for worse for some critical situations there in. And for the Merry Christmas on Ice EQ...Rare Banther please, also hope that Xie's CO give tons of EXP just like last year's Christmas CO.

I think SEGA has been doing an excellent job with the updates. They are frequent, and big ones more often than not. This new EQ sounds like a very fun addition as well, no? I also think that - beginning with Ep. 2 - they fixed most of the issues this game used to have. Then why is it that despite the game being unarguerably better and much more refined now than it was one year ago, that some of you are bored of it that much?

It's the game's formula, its mechanics. You've grown tired of how this game works. But it's what makes this game the game it is, and it is not something that is likely to ever get changed for whatever reason.
If you are bloody tired of this game right now, no content update or class fix will be able to fix that. Ever.

I am saying they fixed the issues that they could fix. Changing the Quest structure would fundamentally change the ground this game is built on, and that is not something you should ever expect from any game that's already been launched.

Quest 1 - Kill X amount of enemies
Quest 2 - Do the code in area 3
Quest 3 - Midboss
Quest 4 - Boss

3 and 4 are fine, but quest 1 and 2 desperately need to be changed up

Wouldn't matter. Free Field MPAs do everything Arks Quests do, but better. So Free Fields are the reason Arks Quests are so useless, but they also are an integral part of the game - and thus not likely to be changed to an effective extent, or even removed entirely. Your real gripes with this game are how it works, and I don't see how they would ever change how it works. That would be relaunch material, and that's not what you should expect from most companies, SEGA especially.

It doesn't require a whole new game to fix the problems with PSO2. It just takes them caring more about making a decent game over caring about selling as much AC as possible. So a new game wouldn't change shit.

Base Defense looks interesting (particularly the new enemies) but not a fan of the items appearing after the completion. Terrible idea; if you disconnect you'll lose out on everything.

New PAs look decent, though I am confused about the 360 degree katana one that stuns, surely that's a bit similar to Kanran?

As for the Christmas update....terrible. Rehashing an emergency quest (another Cake Sisters one that no-one will complete anyway) and a bingo card? The PSP2 Santa Dress looks alright but it's a pretty substandard update as far as I'm concerned. I'll gloss over that one and hope the Base Defense one is good.

Edit: Also agree with what's been said about the lack of variety in Arks Quests. I guessed what the missions would be for Seabed and sure enough I was right on the money because it's the same as almost every area (Desert/Forest are slightly different progression but not enough to be noteworthy). If there was more varied missions for the Arks Quests maybe I'd actually run the ones that aren't 'kill this boss'.

Well, the annoying thing is that some things that would be REALLY EASY FIXES (mostly number tweaking), they don't actually do, or don't do very well. Like when they over-buffed Hunter skills and consequently relegated Forces and Techers to bottom-tier status.

I mean, they try, but they're just... so... incompetent.

At this point it's like people playing this racing game, and saying how it sucks because there's no guns. There won't ever be guns. So quit the game already - you're clearly not into racing; at least, not how it's done in this game.

Even if there was any variety in Arks Quest, Free Field would include all they offer anyways.
Thus, there would be no incentive to play the Arks Quest.

If you are bloody tired of this game right now, no content update or class fix will be able to fix that. Ever.
Everything I saw only got worse with Episode 2. Even more content that's locked behind stupid barriers: XQs and a super rare boss that you'll never see because it hides behind RNG. More privileges for paid users, along with the game getting more unbearable for everyone, so Premium is now even less a convenience and more a necessity. Stupid crossovers that ride on the popularity of the other franchise so blatantly, that Sega can't even bother to put any effort into modeling the clothes that are associated with it. And game balance. Don't even get me started on that, just thinking of it makes me mad.

The redeeming features are so few and far apart that they can't even begin to cover all of the screwups the game had before and got recently. 4 or 5 almost useless 10☆s that you get from matterboards? Yeah, that's not even a bone they're throwing this time. Daily food stamps and bingo cards that give out items that may slightly increase the illusion of a chance that some thing that you may want would drop, but only for 0.05% of the time you put into the game? I'm not sure if I need to even comment on that.

And don't worry, Gameguard has finally did what I couldn't accomplish for so long and stopped me from playing PSO2 for good. So, maybe I was too harsh on nPro, and they can do something useful for once.

That's what I'd like them to do, as well. Also more gimmicks to areas in general to make each of them feel more unique than just having different designs. I mean, every area kinda has it's own gimmick, like seabed where you can change the water level, quarry has its teleporters, caves lava and rocks falling from the ceiling. However, all these "gimmicks" are kinda pointless and don't really add much. It still doesn't make one area feel much different from the other. These kinda gimmicks might as well not be there, you wouldn't notice a difference.

Some of the story quests have really nice and interesting puzzles and stuff, though, same with TA. If all Arks Quests were like that, I'd definitely play them more than just once to unlock free field.

If story quests had actual coop, that'd be like super cool.

People will tire of any gimmick soon and the resources that were spent on it, would be as wasted as painting Naberius bushes into different colors and giving Caves grass a physics model.

ARKS quests are introductions to areas, not infinite and dynamic, also nonexistent, content that people seem to dream about.

Also, coop in story quests is as much of a gimmick that barely anyone would use, because you play them for the story.

And what's next, really? More 'PSO2 needs PvP/Crafting/Raids to survive' threads?

I think SEGA needs to make some EQs permanent slowly.
I think there are already too many and depending on when you can play, it can be weeks before you see some of the other EQs. Especially when EQs are scheduled.
If they don't want to make them forever permanent, maybe they could at least alternate between making two EQs a week permanent.

I just think, it would be really great if they could just once add something that doesn't have so much rng added to it. You can't even get really excited for these updates if you don't even know when you will be able to play them (I am also looking at you super rare enemies and parallel world).

And while I am already complaining, I would like to add how much I hate how little content they add for lower level players. I fully understand that they need to add things for players at level cap, however, it is so frustrating when you feel that you need to be at least lv 50 to be able to do all the good things that all the other people are only still playing (it has become so hard to find MPs for VH). Which again wouldn't be so bad if leveling to lv 50 wouldn't take an eternity.

People will tire of any gimmick soon and the resources that were spent on it, would be as wasted as painting Naberius bushes into different colors and giving Caves grass a physics model.

ARKS quests are introductions to areas, not infinite and dynamic, also nonexistent, content that people seem to dream about.

Also, coop in story quests is as much of a gimmick that barely anyone would use, because you play them for the story.

And what's next, really? More 'PSO2 needs PvP/Crafting/Raids to survive' threads?

I would love pvp, but only if it stripped u of weps, units, and skill trees and gave ur lvl 1 gear to fight ur friends.

Quest variety (especially fucking stable quests as is, instead of this RNG garbage) alone along with real, tangible rewards would do absolute wonders for the game.

It's not the structure (although it is a large part of what makes this game so boring), but the utter lack of effort and care to do anything more than the bare minimum to keep anything other than their dressup-oriented audience interested in the game. Every time I've been logging on, I go through this process:

-Let's go hunt some rares today-Oh, right.
-Let's go level up some... because, why? Skill Points? Eh. Already OP as it is.
-Let's go run TACOs-Wait, I already have sufficient gear and grinding/affixing is a travesty.
-Let's play one of those fun new EQs-Of course it's not up right now.
-Let's log off and play better games.

No, it should have its own passes that you can only buy from a Cake Sisters type code in an EQ

And yes, the shop's inventory is shared for the entire multiparty so one guy can buy all 5.

Yes, five, which scales with the number of players (so only 1 if you have 8 or fewer people in the MPA, NPCs obviously don't count)

I don't think everyone's ungrateful, I mean I still love the game despite the many ways in which it can be improved, and I've logged over 600 hours into it, still counting (Many of my friends don't seem bored or tired of the game either) XD

I suppose, but I've been playing the game since the day of full release (August of 2012?), but I went on hiatus soon after Ruins were released until around the time Episode II came out... And still, I don't think it's going to get boring anytime soon; even though I'm sad the new Quest is an EQ, I'm still happy that we're getting some interesting mini-story-type-thing, as well as hoping it might have some relevance to the main plot XD

They need to seriously just say fuck it and make Falz Elder farmmable. Most of his 11*s are already outclassed and 12*s are still never gonna drop.

Holiday event EQs like Trick or Treat or the upcoming Christmas themed one really need to be able to be selected any time at the quest counter for the duration of the event. They had it down fine with PSO and PSU, I don't see why they decided to torture everyone by having these event missions only pop up at random times of the day for only 30 mins at a time. It's already limited by how long they have the event up, why limit us further by not allowing us to run the mission any time we want?

All they have to do is bring back the PSU style events, it'll make people stay interested and possibly get something worthwhile out of it. As it is now you're lucky to get 2 1/2 runs of running around in a circle before being forced to wait another unspecified number of hours to do it again.

I'm not even capped and I've already run out of motivation to log in to the game.

Instead I've been spending all my time in Warframe... Which, TBH, SEGA could really learn from.

way I see it EMQ's mostly suck if you have job/school/training/busy

but for people that can play this game all day(a lot of you) then I think it's not too horrible, since you'd get sick of the mission in a day if you could spam it 500 times in a row.

Only part I hate about EMQ timing is when a good emq pops up when I don't feel like playing. Or when I can't get into a good block.

Otherwise who gives a shiit, this game is too casual and an RNG hell;hollow shell of this series find something else to stress about. <<

It's more for the non premium players.. For they can get there share of the 10* pot sort of speak.. And if you played Phantasy star universe. The GBRs always gave out generic crap 10*s buy every so often you'll find a gem. That's what SOJ should do on PSO2. I remember running hours doing my map cycles just to get that 300% boost on drops.. People would run it all day and all night.
