Open Beta's in full swing now.

Tried it for about 30 minutes. It's... interesting; could be a nice little thing to pick up when you're out and about and you don't have enough time to play a full quest on Vita. Or you don't have a Vita.

Bits of the chip system I still don't fully grasp, but I'm sure guides will start popping up before long.
What's everyone else's take on it?

Also my Dista units don't appear on my character, damn you Sega...

Yeah it's a shame that Head Accessories/Head Parts don't appear but it still is a beta, they'll work it out eventually. I kind of like the game it is interesting to feed your mag or even weapon grind(but who wants to do THAT on their phones).

Have I done something wrong? or did I miss a step? I logged in with my segaID after downloading the client, but got stuck on a screen that I think was asking for a 16-digit code. It came up immediately after logging in. This is probably something simple, but can anyone give advise? At least on what it is?

I got to a screen with three buttons, one having a picture of a phone and another mentioning PSO2 with the PSO2 logo. The third was on the bottom right and had scribbly kanji on it.

I didn't know what to do so I made breakfast.

That's the secret password screen, it's a common feature for Mobage.
It's what you use to transfer "account" between device.

It will probably run. They've built it on Unity so it's quite multiplatform. I guess they're running a beta on android only because the app store can be a bit bitchy.

HTC Evo 3D (lol old) here, happily surprised to see that this game actually runs at full speed on my phone, and doesn't look like total garbage. It's actually pretty good for a mobile game.

Also, Android app permissions doesn't always mean they're actually using them. If you're that worried about it, set it up in bluestacks on your PC (which kind of defeats the purpose of it being a mobile game, but whatever).

I'm finding pso2es to be pretty decent for a phone game. I also like how I can play with my characters, costumes, and weapons from pso2. I still haven't seen much rewards that could be transferred to pso2 though, other than magfeeding.

I was getting error 110 or something like that a lot, but I realized it was just my router being weird and cutting off connection occasionally. Can't tell you what 905 is, since I haven't seen that one yet, but hope someone can help you out.

Good news! You can use TMG PAs on ranger if you are equipped with a guld milla or some other multiclass TMG. I really wish they'd extend this to the main game.

I kind of don't see a point to leveling gunner at all actually.

So I just learned that the 10* Other Spin I pulled from that Rappy barrel cannon... thing... is of EXTREMELY good use. I happened to have a Razrail on me (should have had my Heretic End out, but oh well), and I combined the two. I TORE through the Tundra like nobody's business. I'm a bit bummed about the lack of Lillipa, and I REALLY wanna see what they would do with Varder, concerning this combat system.

Yeah you get 15 fun pts for friends on your list and 5 pts for randoms, for completing missions.
If you are a bit lazy you can get chips/PA from the lilipa barrel thing, is it like the rappy one, but you pay with fun pts instead of rappy coins.

I have to say it is actually pretty good, but occasionally i get some tracking issues and i cannot seem to turn around to target enemies.
The shared item storage, for crossover items, is a bit iffy, as it only lists the names, no picture or rarity iirc. But other than that it is a neat side game/application for pso2.

Anyone uploading screenshots asking for translations, try to install the google translate app, it has an option to translate from a photo or screenshot/image, I know the translations made by google have a long way to be any good, but it's better than nothing I guess.

You get skill through the scratch or killing enemy drops, and you need to level them up through using other chips.

Well, internally they're implemented to an extent, even the character selection menu has references to it, but probably most of whats build is because of those bot thingies. But i'll guess that at some point they'll release subclasses or something.

Just move it to inventory on the PC? My gunner/ranger equipped her all-class 11* rifle and 10* armors again, it's hilarious.

You unlock fighter, gunner, and techer once you reach level 20 with any class. You have to complete special quests (the gold icon on the bottom right of the quest list) in order to use them.

Well a lil update on the translation, i just hit an important milestone on the tools that will make it possible. Right now they can export to a format suitable to write the translations. And they can export translations to the game format. Just need to finish the import and some details like some missing texts, and it will be probably ready for the team to start translating and testing.

I've noticed that it doesn't take that much mobile data to play over the network. I was playing for a little under an hour on the network and I only used about 10-14mb of data. I have a 10 GB shared plan with the rest of my household, and being the only one that actively uses it gives me a lot of usable data, so Playing for less than an hour while on public transportation every once in awhile is no problem.

Is experience gain shared between ES and PC? I might play this alongside Persona 3 if I could level my alts through it.

They discussed sharing exp, but it wouldn't be much and I'm pretty sure it's not working yet.

Still, it's a fairly fun game. In several ways I find it more fun than the PC game. Chip improvement isn't nearly as RNG-dependent, or at least, it's not when you try to improve the chip (RNG lies in finding the items to begin with). Chip improvement is intuitive too.

That second chip improvement thing, with the crystals and the boards and the "+" symbol at the end of the name, that's a bit less cool. Have fun throwing thousands of your account's fun at the special fun scratch and never getting 75% of the items you need.

Im pretty sure (a very small amount % wise) exp from PC goes to the ES version if you play that class.

I went Ra main and killed like 10 mobs and cleared a code. I checked at the class counter and it has 'combined EXP 72' which was my cap, im pretty sure my ranger on ES got that 72 exp....... but I don't remember how much I had to level up on it xD

I just got a level in the main game by playing PSO2es, so it seems to work both ways. Or at least I'm fairly sure it does, since while I can't bother to look up the string of kanji, I didn't have this level before I logged out and it does say something about class and leveling up.

Oddly Enough the (back?) button (bottom left) on that screen doesn't get translated but it does on other screens. Will need to take a look but probably sega hardcoded it. There are a few extra things where sega hardcoded the texts.

The good thing on this patch is that you can use sega's apk and their updates without issues. Fixing harcoded strings would need us to repackage it and resign it, and can lead to problems for some users.

Shame to see it limited by the Android/Smart Phone platform as I would love to see what could be done with a full blown PC version of this for sure and with real multi-player, but alas I doubt it will ever happen.

From what I hear tonight's maintenance for PSO2es released a new version of the app which means a new .apk is needed.

...Anyone manage to get it?

EDIT: Also I should note that getting more chip space is really easy. It costs 1 Rappy Medal for 10 slots, given that you can get rappy medals by completing the daily quests (tap the gold icon on the lower right of the quest screen). The game doesn't give you the opportunity to buy more until you fill up your inventory, though.
I hear the size limit is 250 slots.

Hehe, sorry, new to this forum, but a 'veteran' PSO player. I did try to spoiler it, but that showed it in a black line, so didn't know spoilerbox was the correct way.

Anyways, I've been waiting for the android application, and installed it yesterday. Tried to play it today, update available. Hopefully it's easy to understand, and let me see my characters in their full glory :D

Uninstall your old game, reboot device, then install the update version.

If that doesn't work, then there's a chance where your game has previous files from the old game, not the required data stuff but rather old profile stuff.

If that's the case, then you **may** need root to remove them.

Apps such as Clean Master may or may not need root to remove your old files, so try that.

If the assumption is true...

At level 20, any units are exactly the same in stats.
Lower tier 10* should have its max stat by Level 65-70. Susanoguren is around Level 78 and Orochi Agito is Level 85.

Thus at lower level the only matters are weapon element (fire/ice/thunder/light) and being multi class.

That thing works sometimes.

A better way would to use openvpn for android (doesn't need root) and then use a jp openvpn server.

That's how I do it anyways.

An alternative method to acquire/update the game: Use http://apk.qoo-app.com/. I'm at work right now but here's a rough guide from memory:

1) Either on your phone or Bluestacks go to http://apk.qoo-app.com/download.html#!app_id=com.sega.PhantasyStarOnline2 es

2) Click on the APK link below the QR code. The site will ask you to download their own special app. Install it, and open it up. (You might be able to get the app directly from Google Play but it was erroring out for me there.)

3) When you open the app, you should see PSO2es at or near the top of the page. Just tap on it and and it will bring up the details page with some orange buttons. The big one on the bottom left of the details will download the game for you, OR it will update it if you already have it installed!

Also I learned the dumbest shit ever in this game: Your equipment's grind value counts towards it's mastery requirement.

I got an Edge Blazer from yesterday's daily quest and thought I'd give it a spin because my Infinite Corandrum is still only at 20% power.
So I went to go grind it, once I got to +3 I started LOSING power because the requirement was climbing up.
Gee Sega, you nerf the hell out of One Point and now I can't even make it up with gear? Thanks a bunch. Doesn't help that things are knocking me down in 2-3 hits already. One hit screws me out of my quest score.

Yeah it's a shame that Head Accessories/Head Parts don't appear but it still is a beta, they'll work it out eventually. I kind of like the game it is interesting to feed your mag or even weapon grind(but who wants to do THAT on their phones).

If you spam dodge you can be nigh invincible in most situations. I dont know the extent of this but on my Braver if i rapidly spam dodge it seems to work even while standing still or in the middle of an attack animation. I doubt this is an intended mechanic though.

I don't blame you. If you dodge enough to avoid damage you likely wont kill fast enough, but if you take extra shots at the enemies you're bound to get hit for a 3rd of your HP.

This whole equipment mastery system is fucking me over hard though. My Dista units are still giving me less than 50 s-def a piece. Gonna try digging out my old Vardha units and see how they do.

Also got a +10 2*, 3*, and 6* rifle to see how they perform.

Also Sega STILL hasn't fixed the annoying dive roll bug with friend attacks. If you use a friend attack in a battle, you can't shoot out of your dive rolls. You can still use a PA out of them but it sucks using a PA that isn't JA'd.

This only happens with some of the mail items, as I have been able to receive others fine. I think this error might actually only be happening with the very first mail. What does it say? How do I fix it?

The second problem is that some of my other mails seem to have items attached (i.e. they have the item bag icon next to them), but when I open up the mail, the "Receive" button is greyed out. Why?

it seems that the timeout is too damn short so when it starts connecting just block your phone pressing the power button to freeze that timer, wait 5 seconds or so then press the button again

Which was created with the "First Time Players" button during character creation. I did not download and use the character designer, so I only used a preset look.

Also, before I'm asked; I did try and choose the "Phantasy Star Online 2 Players" when initially creating a character, but I was still brick-walled by that 16 digit password screen.

So I just bought 2000 AC using PSO2es. It turns out once you linked your PSO2 char to PSO2es you can't transfer ships. So now I need some help deleting or maybe unlinking my PSO2es char to my PSO2 account so I can transfer ships.
Reason for transferring? I am from Ship 10, I just came back to the game 2 days ago after a 1year 4 month absence. Ship 10 seems dead except for EQ time so I want to move to Ship 2.

Fixed it. I just needed to make a new character on the same ship. It's ok now.

Poison is the worst in PSO2es. You take so much damage from it and the damage continues on even after you win the battle, making it almost guaranteed you start the next battle with 1 HP.

The way you worded it doesn't make them sound better at all.

Anyways, the PC version actually requires more downtime on enemies since A. They have waaaaay more health and your normal attacks do almost no damage in the schme of things and B. You negate damage by pressing dodge while you're attacking in the normal game. If you could, PSO2 would be far too easy though.

ES's enemies actually do have a lot of downtime anyways, but if you're not used to it you won't see it since they move differently. But in PSO2 ES, you can also chain dodges infinitely and be fully invincible during that time. In PSO2 if you try that, you will be getting your rear kicked in.

ok my wording was pretty bad indeed. what i meant was that in es the mobs dodge your attacks and they wont wait ages to launch one attack. That makes their ai better imo. Mob hp and defense has noting to do with ai. Damage is also waaaay higher in the pc version.


I agree if you could spam dodge in the pc version as in es, than the game would be even easier as it is now.

I do feel like PSO2es makes me think more about my safety when attacking, especially as a Force. Enemies do feel more aggressive, but it also has to do with smaller arenas and a much more restricted field of view. It just feels more risky to attack without really watching what's going on around me.

I'm pretty sure I read on the code screen itself that PSO2 linked accounts can just transfer with their Sega ID, but it was a rough google translate for me at the time. I do know that when I hit the device transfer button, it gives me a PSO2/Sega ID option.

Just curious for future reference. When my wife reinstalled the app, she logged back in with Sega ID only, but once in it gave her a new 16 digit code(even though she didn't to use the old one). Strange!

Those are all used as materials for Chip Release. You get a chip to it's maximum level and you can release it, increasing it's maximum level.

I know that if your element match the enemy weakness then your damage is increased, but does it help at all if you have like 250 light and you are trying to hit a oodan which is weak to fire and wind?
Also is the element of the active chip thats used for attaking (PA/Tech etc) matters aside from the element attribute they provide?

Also can multiple copy of same passive chips stack? Like 2x lisa/malmoth/dagash chip?

I almost did it solo. took about 5 runs, but ran out of time right before I could start the last run to kill it. Ideally what you do is you invite friends and they help you kill your target. But as I learned the hard way, helping your friends does not mean a clear for you.

Ok, I need help. I reinstalled bluestacks and PSO2ES recently. I finished patching the game, I put in my unsername and password, it asked me for something else after that, which I thought was my OTP so i put that in and then another thing asked me to input stuff in multiple boxes, like a serial or something. Think I did something wrong.

Edit: googling brought me back to this thread where I found that the game is asking me for a 16-digit password because it thinks I'm on a new device. I don't have the previous device since it was another installation of bluestacks before I formatted my hard drives. Is there any way for me regain access to my account in bluestacks? I just want to load up some AC without a markup T-T

Not really, I play on my alt with no 11* damage chip, and is still able to clear VH, but I have two Dragon gunner chip, and using the Marlu chip from my main as an assist chip.
What you need is active friends, so they can help you clear it.

But the Sumo Darker Boss can be burned and Poisoned(1950 damage each tick)
When all 3 Attack chip activate(Marlu+Dragon gunners) My normal tali throw hits 300~400, and Dark spell hits for 2000+

And clearing VH has a chance to get a 5s Soul receptor gear(Soul Receptor+Power III+Ability III+Stamina III+Spirita III)

And I use a All class Tali with dark spell on my main, currently level Bouncer with it, using Photon blade normally, but for event Boss, I find Tali and Dark spell safer, and chance to poison boss is more useful.

For the last Vol dragon, I can poison him almost within 1~2 cast of Megid, This boss, takes 3~4, but usually last all the round til lthe end.
So 30 second or 40 second of poison, 1950 damage every 2 second,..Enough to get a Great ranking on my alt with no Attack boost beside the two dragon gunner atk up chip.
And also use the Friend assist attack button, for Vol dragon, using it when he flies up, will reset him to the ground.
For Sumo, I use it when I get grabbed or knocked down, since it reset btoh our position to starting position, instead of spending 1~2 second standing up, the clock stops.

Burning would be easier if you have the Shining serie Misty chip, this might be more useful if you don't play with a Rod/Tali and use dark spell, as it gives normal attack chance to cause burn on enemy, even boss, and the chance to effect is pretty high, especially if you use a weapon that attack alot. I don't remember how much damage burn decrease on the current boss, but it's not as high as Poison(1950), I think its...600 or is it 900 damage.

I'll agree with you on the Vol Dragon chip (Especially if you have the Samurai or Quna S Excellent chip), but Theodore? If you have your element at 250, and are hitting elemental weaknesses, Theodore chip will add a whole new level of power to your attacks. Not always worth the effort to set up, but if you can do it, do it.

Sizu is correct though, you can pretty much blast out the EM bosses with statuses to quickly reach the damage goal. Personally with poison and a whole lot of damage boosting chips, I can easily knock out anywhere from 25-40% of the boss out on VH in one go depending on how generous the map was in regards to power boosts. VH Bosses die within 3 runs.

One other tip? Use your friend assists whenever you can. It's basically free damage and get out of jail free card - in the scope of the EM, anytime you use your friend assist, the timer will stop, and both yourself and your target will reset to a neutral state. This means you get the damage inflicted by your partner, and if you got hit and sent flying or grabbed, you can use the assist to put yourself back into a position to attack without wasting time on recovery (or dodge and counterattack immediately. Aronagarda likes to try to grab you if you're right next to it coming out of a friend assist).

My preferred setup lately is Yukihime+Ohza (Due to the recent EM season). Yes, you have to activate 2 chips, but you can blow up the EM bosses pretty badly with that combination alone (you will however, take a LOT of damage if you get hit with them both active).

Burn Draal EM was a boon for anyone who could set up a Samurai + Quna S combo too (Those 2 chips alone can match the damage the auto-fire loadout below can output against dragon type).

While it's easy to just build what I would call an auto-fire damage deck (Marlu+Chroto+Hajime+Risa) and steamroll pretty much every generic mission, absolute DPS is what you'll want to have for the EMs - you'll need some more specific chips to do this. This is also my argument for having a nice variety of friends as well - some people will run the chips that you wouldn't normally see.

If you can deal good damage already, you shouldn't need to use Megid to poison him.

But that's an option for Alt that don't have atk boost chip to reach the Great ranking.

Alternatively, what you do is you keep using your lightning techs, but you slot in the El Arda chip instead, since that grants the ability to passively poison targets on attack connect, techs or otherwise.

After seeing the artwork, and actually using it, it's definitely a chip I really want (but will most likely not get, especially since they started littering the es premium scratches with AC clothing items). The fact that most of my friend list like to flaunt new chips when they come out, and only 1 person has it, can probably attest to how rare it is.

Klotho chip also gives a big boost in Atk, more then Marlu, although it only last for 15 second(Extended), the Increase Darker Gwandaha chip is also a good chip to use, it last for 30 second, Azanami last for 40 seconds, but the boost is about 2x Dragon gunner.

Yes, Atk up chip is best teamed up with Risa chip(Double attack one)

Any chip that procs on attack connect (JA or regular) is great if your attacks hit multiple times. Hien Tsubaki is notorious for making chips with not-so-good proc rates work very often. Risa chip will also assist in this as well, since that chip can cause a second attack per hit, which also causes other chip effects to proc as well.

i.e. The most extreme example would be Hien Tsubaki + Risa. Tsubaki hits 7 times. That's 7 attacks to proc Risa chip effects. Risa chip has a decent change of occurring (60-70% chance) - so your end hit count would be anywhere from 8-14. If you have any other chips that activate by chance on hit, then they will be activating by chance on the new hit count. In this case, for the Ryoma chip, you basically have up to 14 chances on one attack to have it activate. Low chances or not, when you have up to 14 chances to activate that chip within a span of 2 seconds, it's going to activate within 2 uses of Tsubaki.

Edit: Hien Tsubaki isn't the most extreme example, that title actually goes to one point. With onepoint, you can change the numbers I gave for for tsubaki to 10-18 chances.

Depends on the chip, some reduce CP cost, other increase chance to activate, such as Risa, Ryoma, Marlu, etc chip.
And I think there are some that increase the element stat too?

For example the ryoma chip, at lv.1, it's chance to activate is small+(Look at the lower right corner for activation rate)

Leveling ability will do one of 2 things depending on whether it is an active chip or a passive chip.

For Active chips, you decrease the CP cost to use the chip. usually 1 CP, sometimes 2CP. The lower the original cost, the more it seems like a great deal.

For passive chips, this ups their proc rate, if it isn't 100%, or if it is a 100% proc rate, it will up the strength of the effect.

The drop rate on soul receptor seems to be exactly the same among all of the different bosses.

Therefore, the boss you can kill the quickest for the lowest energy cost is the best option, unless you'd like to shoot for a soul + soul receptor unit of your choosing.

People run the Malmoth over Rockbear, though, as the former seems to have a much lower chance of not giving a piece of equipment, whereas it feels really common to get grinders or meseta from the latter.


On a side note, I feel dumb for overlooking the usefulness of Shifta for such a long time. The boost it gives (At least on the 10* version) rivals that of the 11* attack boosting cards. If you use a friend assist with the card equipped, they'll also cast it on you.

I use the Highest level Quartz dragon as it has a good chance for Soul receptor weapon and defense Quartz unit with Soul receptor.

The current EQ has a really good chance to give soul receptor too.

The other things of note: They've put up the Bouncer weekly quest up, and it also contains Active Photon Factor tanks you need to unlock most of the 10 and 11* chips. Which is great, since I personally thought it was BS that you had to wait for a single day every week to get the 1 material needed to unlock most of the high level chips, and it only shows up on that one day.

Also, they've put up 3 boss event missions each with 3 difficulties. Mizer and Quartz were previously run before, but Ragne is new. As usual, meeting all of the Score Bonus Targets will net you a unit, and a weapon, both are 3 slot, and loaded with Soul Receptor.

You could also get the Risa Excellent and Quna Excellent pre-unlocked when those chips were up.

I think the most important part about this is that it doubles your chances for a Quna, Xion, Zeno, Tia, Marlu, Ohza, or Gettem chip. With all the EMs that have been running, and now the easier to acquire photon factor tanks, it shouldn't be that much more effort to go from locked to unlocked (though it would be even better to get it pre-unlocked; I'd be happy that I even got the chip in the first place).

Pretty sure the rarest of the bunch is going to be the Io chip - In the last 2 weeks it was available, my attempt to get the Twilight Quna chip (my pocketbook and my medal stash are disappointed in me, since I didn't get it), I only managed to pull 1 Io chip. conversely, I pulled 6 Risa Excellents, 2 Quna Excellent, 1 Quna S Excellent, 1 Risa S Excellent, 6 Chrotos and countless Marlu chips.
