View Full Version : Going to Draw someone's character (Picture Completed & Uploaded)

Lostbob117
Apr 20, 2014, 08:25 PM
So as I said I would do, I drew 3 characters. What did I learn? I got more experience and I learned that I need to work on faces. So my next step is to draw just faces to get better. (The eyes need serious work, I don't really know how to draw them.) I hope to do this again sometime when I get better at faces. So here is the picture:
(Click to In-Large)

Note: I combined the Arm and sword of the cast. The person who posted it inspired me to do that(One of the reasons I chose that actual picture.)

Obviously, the only choice here is to draw Lord Prettiest Magical Idol of PSO-World High Arksenth!

Is there even a contest?

I can't wait for you to finish so I can trample your drawing and make fun of your art skills!

Hello pso-world, I've recently started drawing and decided to get more practice I'll pick the coolest character that you post and draw it for you.

How to enter the "contest"(Guess you can call it that):

*Post a picture of your character doing a pose(Try to avoid some explosion that covers your character)
*If your picture is small I'm not even going to bother, so make sure it's high quality(Sorry, but if you can't get high quality graphics. Try asking a friend!)

(Tip: I'm not going to draw butt shots.)

Things to avoid doing in this thread:
*Making fun of what someone thinks is cool, we all have a different perspective of what cool is.

I'll pick who I'll draw in like 2 days or something and have the drawing done before next Sunday.

EDIT:

It's really hard to gauge what to look forward to when there's not many examples. Have you drawn normal humanoid figures that we could see? Lines look a bit rough, too.

I guess the point here is to get practice, though, but as far as samples go, the more the merrier :V

Well I mean no ill, but positive comments of encouragement are nothing special really. Every thread like this I've ever seen is the same.
"Should I practise? *posts sample*"
"Yeah, go for it man!"
"X looks a bit off, try this and that trick!"
"Good luck man"
"<obligatory troll post>"
etc.

Besides, if you wanted constructive criticism, PSO-W is really not the best place for it.

If you're serious about drawing, good luck. It's a long road of seemingly endless years of practise, practise, practise and practise.

isnt that how life works, usually negativity is expected.

all you gotta do is strive to better yourself and regard some negativity as criticism at best, and go forward.

never let others trow you down.

you have to start somewhere, even if the begining isnt great, it will evolve and become greater with time.

Mind if I do a little critique on the pieces you posted? (Albeit pso-w isn't the best place to do this) I see you use a very linear style. I typically use a more linear approach when drawing less serious pieces on my own (typically for video game characters and manga/anime related stuff) but if you want to add depth and shape to your art, you need to look at things in a "shapely" way. The first step is to look at things as shadows and lights instead of outlines of a figure. Negative space is also one way to stray away from outlining things. Many people think that art is the skill of the hand, in actuality, it's the skill of they eye. It's about how you look at things.

Edit: when I'm in studio I usdually take a few minutes to think and plan my pieces before I do them in order to "look" at the thing I'm sketching in the correct manner.

The only one I recognize is Natsu's Caseal :o Her sword has nothing on my Caseal's Chainsaw arm xD

All three where good but Natsu's caseal was the only one that was closer to looking like the real one.

Nina? (Dnd) seemed a bit off with the face but everything else on her was great (I hate drawing faces in an angel view so I understand).

Other one, nothing against, lol I just don't know who it is.

Still bravo on the work! Keep doing more to improve on it!

Note: I combined the Arm and sword of the cast. The person who posted it inspired me to do that(One of the reasons I chose that actual picture.)

Thats the worst thing you can do is to simplify yourself more than you should D:
Go for the whole body again get more practice on that !

PSO2 characters have really detailed costumes and designs that can make it difficult to get at the structure and expression of a body. Try picking ones using simpler (barer) costumes until you can do some life drawing.
