Question about gunner skilltree

On the skill,"Zero Range",does that work on rifles too? or just TMG?

Also, do I need to be main class gunner for the skills to apply?

Anything that shoots bullets with get the ZRE bonus.

And it doesn't need to be mained to get that effect.
