View Full Version : What kind of PC are you running PSO off of?

My loading screen from switching blocks takes 1min+
My loading screen from Ark ship to campship takes 1min+
In 12/12 parties when Falz slaps me, I take no damage untill 2mins later...

I'm running off a pretty trash laptop. This was a Christmas gift and was my first laptop, so I couldn't expect the best in the world.

So for people who load their screen in like...5 seconds plus, what kind of PC do you have, or maybe some suggestions for a PC build to run PSO etc?

My current laptop : HP Pavilion g7-2340dx Notebook

My current build:

CPU: Intel i7 4770k (Average clock 3.5GHz)

GPU: Nvidia GTX 770 4GB Windforce

RAM: 8GB DDR-3 1866

(won't bore you with the rest of the details)

This is overkill for PSO2. Loadtimes are astounding. I don't use a SSD (yet) but I wonder how much more that could effect it.

i'm running a decent build 5 year old PC ._.

GPU: GeForce GTX 480
CPU i7 930 @2.80ghz
RAM: 8GB

running very smooth but recently my PC seems to get close to dying
streaming in HD still works fine and i'm running 2 Monitors but only the main for the game

CPU: Intel i7 4770k (Average clock 3.5GHz)
GPU: Nvidia GTX 760 2GB
RAM: 8GB DDR-3 1866

Almost as good as Horo. I may end up getting a Radeon Sapphire 7950 cause I hear it's a lot better than my nVidia card.

PSO2 runs very smoothly besides 20-40 seconds slideshow in a full lobby.
But I suppose this is server lag / a bandwidth issue and not a performance issue.

Laptop Model: Packard Bell EasyNote LS13
CPU: Intel i3 2310M (2,1GHz)
GPU: Radeon HD 7670M 2GB
RAM: 4 GB DDR-3

Even if it isn't really a gaming laptop, I can play with everything maxed and keep around 50~60 fps (aside from huge PSE burst).
My loading times are decent ( ranging from 5 to 20 sec ), though I can easily reach 1min+ when changing bloc.

Still having some issues when recording with Fraps sometimes, but I'm not complaining.

Not really for between Nvidia and Radeon cards, that 760 you have is about good as the 7950 or R9 270X.

I haven't heard of Packard Bell computers for years o-o, i still got my crappy Pentium 1 desktop which is of that brand back in 1992-1993 xD, i think you might need more cores since PSO2 makes use of 2 cores which fraps needs to make use of some processing power in order to record as well as your storage drive.

Also for my specs which is rather over 5 years old but the laptop itself is 4 years and a few months old:

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.13Ghz (can use software to make it 2.3Ghz but not much a performance boost)
4 GB of DDR2 800Mhz ram
Nvidia Geforce GTX 260M 1GB

Can play at max settings just fine at 720p except for big lobbies full of people and 12/12 mpas with alot of action going give me shuttering and some slowdown which is alright by me but i do have a desktop in the works but no specs on it yet.

Radeon HD 5770(for Mac OS)
Geforce 760 TI(For Windows)
Mac os X Mavericks(Testing Yosemite as well! :D)
Windows 8.1 Pro

This was actually fun to mess around with, got it without the cooler, memory, a bad io board on the front, and a PSU that was all cut up for $200. I put about another $300 in it for the memory, hard drive, cooler replacement, and replacement PSU. Memory for these things aren't cheap either! Buffered memory is expensive...Even more since it's Triple channel!

I love my Mac Pro, and now I've gotten everything good on it! One problem I was annoyed with greatly always was since the 760 TI was plugged in, the boot loader would boot into a blank screen. It was running, but because the 760ti lacks the efi for the MacPro it wouldn't register a video card until it booted into either Mac or Windows, which in Mac it would switch automatically to the 5770 and wouldn't read the 760 ti at all since I do not allow unsigned kexts in Mac.

Using Clover on my Mac Pro as a bootloader to fix this, shows options on how to boot and what to boot into! :D Windows 8.1 works pretty easily under Clover instead of Bootcamp as well.

Super excessive for PSO2 but I play on Nvidia Surround using three monitors so 5960x1080 resolution. Runs at around 180-220 fps.

If you're looking to run the game, desktop wise, you can build a $300-400 PC now-a-days that'll run it far better than what you're experiencing.

I hope you find a solution to your troubles!

Main, Custom Built PC:
- i5 3570k
- GTX 670
- 8GB 1333 DDR3
- - Maximum In-Game Graphic settings, Virtual Fullscreen 1920x1080
During off-hours my load times are just a couple of seconds. But if my internet is acting up (or I'm on when the ships are busy [full of JPN players]), then load times can be a bit longer.

I was running off an 840 Evo SSD; but as PSO2's size kept increasing, I was forced to move it to a regular 7200 RPM drive. I didn't really notice any performance difference between the two.

-----------

I also run an alt on the side at times on my shitty Compaq CQ61-420US, but load times are pretty annoying. At least 4~8x longer than my PC.
- Athlon II M320
- Radeon HD 4200
- 3GB DDR2
- - Minimum In-Game Graphic settings, Virtual Fullscreen 1366x768

I spent roughly nothing on this rig, and it never fails to get the job done. Especially in games like Battlefield 4 where they're finally utilizing octo-core processors, the 8350 absolutely rips it to shreds.

It's not as nice as some, but for what I spent on the parts it was more than worth it.

Custom built rig here, it's a little out of date, planning on doing CPU/Mobo/RAM upgrades this year. It runs PSO2 at 60fps fine, as long as I keep my model count around 30-40. Any higher than that can get a little sketchy.

CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1100T @ 4.0 ghz (water cooled)
RAM: 8GB (4x2GB) OCZ Reaper Low-Voltage DDR3 (1600mhz, 9-9-9-24)

Motherboard: ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO
SSD: 256GB OCZ Agility III

As I'm sure some are already aware of, I have a rather monstrously overkill PC for this game:

Intel Core i5 2500k @ 4.4 Ghz
ASRock P67 Extreme4 Gen3
16GB DDR3-PC12800 (brands are irrelevant for RAM, don't know why people keep mentioning it)
2x Nvidia/EVGA GeForce GTX 670 4GB in SLI configuration

I used to run the game off of my SSD but the thing is tiny (128GB) so I moved it off and the load times haven't really changed as much as I thought they would (likely because I keep all of my hard drives continuously defragmented). The SSD does wonders for the OS and other apps, however.

The game itself runs at 1080p with 4x SGSSAA, forced HBAO+ and SweetFX at a smooth 60 FPS, except when lots of particle effects are flying around close to the camera (because of particle overdraw, which is four times worse for performance with 4x SGSSAA, naturally).

The sad thing is that I've had this setup for a couple years now and haven't had a single compelling reason to upgrade since. No new super-badass hardware, no new hardware-destroying super graphically intense games; nothing of that sort. Stagnation is real, and it is terrible.

Runs the game pretty smooth. Doesn't help the bad latency times from Europe to Japan tho. Sometimes I get random longer loading times or slowdown, but usually only when switching on blocks that are as good as full. Kind of annoying but oooh well :l

Speaking of TA I always find it funny how I always load faster than everyone else yet most hardcore TAers that I know of play with PSX settings and im over here with maxed out settings at 1980/1080 resolution with NVidia inspector to add high lvls of anti aliasing and I still load faster than them LMAO.

Funny thing is, I don't care about graphics... I can play perfectly fine on 1.

My load times[4p] on optimized client:
Nab1: 3s
Nab2: 3s
Lilipa: 4s
Amdu: ~5s
Altar: 3s

Keep in mind that load is also ping based, so on min settings you might be around there. Then again, I don't know where you're from.

Anyway, don't talk trash about loading faster than everyone else when even I was beating you... while I'm on shitty Comcast + toaster.

p.s. I'm not the only "hardcore TAer" who was making fun of your slow loading... and they were on toaster, too.

Can't remember when this thing was made, I think maybe like September 2009.

Intel i7 920 @2.67GHz
ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 Motherboard
EVGA GTX 275
8GBs G. Skill (1066 I think)
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Elite Pro

Using AT&T "12Mbps", but I've only DC'ed twice in over a year.

As far as loading goes, I'm usually seeing 2-4 seconds, EQs are a nightmare. Things pretty old, but I think I'll only bother upgrading the video card. My buddy is using a PC we put together with about $500-600, and then added a Radeon 7770 for pretty cheap not long ago, I think $80. He loads less than a second slower, so you really don't need much to play this game. Just... don't use a laptop. You'll need to spend more money to want a "gaming laptop".

2.5GHz AMD Elite quad-core A10-5750M accelerated processor with 4MB L2 cache
8GB DDR3 SDRAM
AMD Radeon HD 8650G graphics with up to 4206MB total graphics memory

My mother bought it for me as a Christmas gift this last Christmas. She got it on QVC, it's not bad but the way they advertised it as being a "gaming PC" when someone asked if it can play SimCity is quite funny. It's not the greatest but it can play PSO2 good enough for me and a few other games I've tried on it.

Without having read the rest of the thread, if your laptop has a good old platter and magnet harddrive that is probably contributing to slower loading times. Laptop harddrives usually spin at 5400rpms, while typical desktop platters go 7200.
