So I've been playing Final Fantasy: XIV to get my mmo/online rpg fix...it isn't doing what it is supposed to. So here I am venting about things I miss.

I miss being far from cap but still being able to hunt for rarz that are actually valuable.

I miss the entire synthing process....nothing parallels to the excitement of possibly pulling a 42, 46, or 50% weapon.

I miss being able to chill in my room and still get richer via an awesome in-game shop system.

I miss the fluctuating economy depending on current hot spots and events.

One final thing to add...FUCK YOU SEGA!

One thing I have noticed recently is that it is so difficult trying to explain to people who have never played, just what made this game so good. However, those of us who did play it understand perfectly.

What I do miss was 6 man party groups all having a chill time over voice comms (I played on 360 servers) Something that has been missing in pso2 from my point of view. It just really sucks that is isnt still around, I do think that I would still be playing to this very day if the servers were still up and I'm really excited (mostly hopeful) that clementine will be a success.

I miss being able to solo things and still make some kind of progress. I was never able to do that in Final Fantasy XI.

Also I really miss my friends. Part of the whole reason the whole Phantasy Star thing was so wonderful was simply because you could just form parties with people without much planning and you could just go have fun. It made making friends fairly easy.

Dude just get off already. You do nothing but put PSU down for no reason. The game was great and had a lot going for it. PSO sucked in areas as well.

Just sounds like bitter trolling - and it contributes nothing to the conversation at all.

Personally, I still play PSO as well as PSU (PSO actually far more admittedly), but they're both enjoyable enough games - I wouldn't keep playing them if they weren't.

They are played entirely differently. There is no reason to have a pissing contest over why one is better than the other either. They both have strengths and weaknesses. I had fun with both really.

You know what I do'nt miss? all the drama that came on the servers.

I've said my piece there anyway, so don't worry about it.

Back on topic, I really need to finish working on my extra mode characters in PSU to get the Ep1 exclusives on all of them - then starting from scratch on AotI with them again (I only really did work with one of them there anyway)

I still remember watching a teaser trailer for this game back in 2005, and reading articles on it. I'd still be playing this game today if it was still up.

What I loved about the game was some of the new elements that it introduced that weren't present in PSO. The ability to change costumes, new weapon styles, player shops, the voice chat on Xbox live, and being able to relax in people's rooms.

I miss how the photon on the weapons changed colour depending on the element of the weapon, it was a nice little touch, Photon Art leveling was pretty cool too, albiet tedious at higher points.

I miss the more variety in changing your characters looks like mixing around shirts, pants, shoes.

Running around different planets and checking out the different lobbies was cool, it made PSU feel bigger rather than just being forced to sit around in the main lobby or shopping area in PSO2.

I just want to break open some rare boxes and see a red board item.

On a side note, I quit FF:XIV. Diablo 3 is a pretty good game though. Running through the same missions trying to get rare drops. While with PSU, there was a certain way to play the game with each class...not in this game. But alas, nothing will ever do justice to Phantasy Star.

Yup I miss all the same things. Its so so sad.
Another thing I miss is the different lobbies for each planet and the lobbies between each run.

The chance to properly enjoy it; spent too much time lobbying. Can't wait for a working private server so I can get a second chance.

I miss the game allot as well, the art style(I just love how characters looked in PSU) the trills of hunting weapons by tweaking the spawns, eggthiefs, the events, PA training and allot more.
Imo PSU was the most fun when it was nearing its end on the PC, you knew everyone so when you joined a party you where sure you had fun with nice people who where dedicated to play.

One thing I don't get nowadays tho... When PSU was still online allot of people complained about the game and how much PSO was better and went on not playing it until the next update.
And these days allot of people say how good the game actually was and how they miss it.

Probably because a lot of people who disliked the game moved on either early on or later on during the game's cycle. They already voiced their displeasure about the game and that's that. There's little reason to bother continuing to insult a flawed game when it's down since its impact on things is known.

At this point, the fans of the game are going to come together and talk about things that made them happy about the game. That's all there is to it for the most part.

To be on topic, the only two things I miss about PSU is my Cast's look and my rather...interesting experiences with the people of PSU. Oh, and some of the events were actually decent.

I miss the community that it had. There were always colorful people who made that game enjoyable. Sadly no mmo I find can deliver that kind of experience. Everyone's is all about endgame and getting the best of anything in something as in PSU people were kind of did their own thing and didn't really care about having the best of the best. Everyone just enjoyed playing and being around each other.

It obviously did well enough to stay online for 6 years and free in Japan for something like 2-3 of them. I just miss the game as a whole. It was my main game for quite awhile. I still haven't found anything to replace it.

it stayed online for 6 years because it had a 6 year plan from what I remember what the developers saying just a few months after launch. To be honest though I probably would have preferred it if the game died with the PC/PS2 server so I could remember the game as "ok" instead of seeing the BS updates we got in the last 2 years that people were ok with. Anyone that can even defend the reskinned of reskinned weapons as "new content" is out of there f..king minds.

I'm mainly talking about JP, I dropped 360 when the first reskinned weapons happened because I knew 360 was going to get screwed. I don't understand how anyone could defend that, but fanboys are everywhere. I'm sure it was more Microsoft being anal about pushing the updates.

MS had little to do with the updates outside of their policies on patch sizes for example. That was entirely Sega's fault.

Even if the game supposedly did well (Which I doubt, since they'd say something about it), the damage on the popularity of the PS games has already been done internationally.
