View Full Version : Post here if you've spend actual money in PSO2

Let's stop saying that the sky is falling for a moment and use our logic. Let's see if it would be profitable if SEGA were to IP ban the rest of the world because of this incident. Post here if you've spent real life money in PSO2 and if you can recall, about how much you've spent and how long have you've been playing?

Myself, I've been playing less than 3 months and spent about $50 CAD by buying 4000 AC.

I started playing at open beta but went on and off for a while. I probably spent anywhere from 50-100 bones USD on premium/AC. But I'm just not sure on an exact number.

for the sake of trying it out I wanted to spend money on something that is actually useful so I bought 2 Mags and a Inventory expansion from my 1000 AC.
I was planning to get premium once I get hands on some 11* weapons to exchange them for passes.

That's when Japanese players religiously spend thousands of AC on Scratch every other week.

some months I skip though

However, less than 1000 customers on a forum is a minority to a business - there's little materiality in that.

Been playing since Alpha-2.

n_n
Jun 27, 2014, 05:15 PM
At least 900-1000 USD.

Most of it went into things like extra characters, extra mags, 100 inventory limit, extra skill trees (at least 5 on each char)

And premium for every month since november 2013. I did spend 10k AC on scratch once to see what it's like... and it was terrible.

SamayouSamurai

However, less than 1000 customers on a forum is a minority to a business - there's little materiality in that.

If little to no effort is required to keep a single paying customer, then it's foolish to refuse his business. We have plenty of smaller customers with annual payments wouldn't even cover my yearly bus fair but since we hardly ever hear from them until they call us to renew, then we don't mind, easy cash. To annoying ones, that's an entire different story, we literally tell them, if you're not happy, you're free to leave, that's your privilege.

4000 AC, and I helped a friend purchase 2000 AC as well.

It isn't just buying AC that helps support the game though.
The Free-players grind TACOs to get money to buy those cute outfits that Sega releases weekly. If there were less players around to spend their meseta on outfits, there would be less meseta earned for doing the scratches, thus making it less appealing to those who buy AC Scratches to purchase as much.
Now I'm not saying that is dramatically increasing AC sales, but it is surely affecting it in some way I'd imagine.

As mentioned, if there is no reason to cut off a financial source, as little as it may be, then it doesn't make sense to do so.

Also Premium, is the best value in my opinion. Would spend more if not for the ever scare of IP ban.

I've spent around 160€ (~218 USD) in the game, more specifically by buying all the 3 Premium Package's that came out so far.
And I plan to, in the future, keep the premium at least from 2 to 2 month, and also buy other Packages that come out.

Uh I need to remember all that I've spent on my brief two and a half months of playing.

2 month premium (1 month at a time)
+50 inventory space
+2 mags
+2 skill trees
2 of something else (500 AC I think each?)'
1 Ac scratch (200 AC)

And I still have leftover AC, only needed to buy 1000 AC to renew premium. It expired on the 21st and the DDoS'ing started happening a couple days before it so I'm not really missing out.

I want to say at least $300, probably closer $500.
Pretty sure I threw down $100 webmoney points for both the Madoka and Fate Stay Night collabs, not sure how many times I threw down the $100 for each event.
Then a number of $20-$50 webmoney charges for previous events and whatnot.

EDIT: went through my emails to confirm, and yea: $320 webmoney from the current provider, and including some other charges of $20 from a different instant code provider that aren't included.

So about $400

Honestly, I probably spent over $400 dollars: monthly Premiums, extra Inventory Slots (to 100), Tons of Skill Trees (e.g. I have 5 hunter Skill Trees, 4 Fighter, 3 Gunner, 2 Force, 2 Techer, 2 Braver, 2 Ranger), bought 4 extra Mags to make them Pure, AC Scratches.

Yeah... so it goes without saying that I will never stray from the PSO2 JP... too much investment.

Since the POBT I've spent a few hundred dollars, most likely.

Problem is: I spent a bunch of it in the first few months after the game launched (skilltrees, mags, inventory slots), which they never charged me for and then wound up canceling the foreign card service entirely.

This is probably why f2p games succeed. The amount of people who spend arent a lot. I think I read it was around 10/20% from an article. But those who do spend, spend a lot more than what the average would want to spend on a retail game. It works very well financially for a company, but it has its cons as well

That is the power of choice given - if marketed well; the person has the choice to get what they want if they can afford it. This is why this method is successful in itself and why other companies are turning to it - however; other companies don't know how to do it well...

*cough* BioWare *cough* SWTOR *cough*

Seriously how are they going to cap your money that YOU earned through the game... that there is down right absurd and doesn't give me the desire to pay them anything...

Even heard Mabinogi isn't good at it either with everything being 'pay to win'

But the forumla that PSO2, Tera, Warframe, eeehh no i wont say Vindictus.... but just a few examples that have 'openess' to their games. You can play/ progress without being hindered and still face the luck of the draw. It is only when you reach that point, is the something else you would want to see/ have.

I've already spent over a hundred USD at least, within 3 months.
If you consider that if they added common international payment options, or if they had the PSO2es method earlier on, we probably would have spent even more since we wouldn't have to worry about added fees.
Not to mention it would make buying more accessible to those who couldn't use the current methods.

But, while we do spend money, there are far far more Japanese players who spend far more than any of us probably do. Japanese are more accustomed to gachapon system than foreigners probably are, and some spend ridiculous amounts on their hobby. My mother who was born and raised in Japan agrees that Japanese people tend to just plain love spending money and buying things impulsively.

Well, if they ever have any reason to not accept us as customers, it'd most likely be because of a legal issue with licensing, which they wouldn't be able to do anything about unless they released an international server, which would probably not have all the collab/anime stuff. I think that it's possible that they simply don't want to acknowledge foreigners to avoid any legal arguments.

It'd be interesting to see whether the total amount of money from NA players (or at least the people posting in here) exceeds the lost profit from the downtime of PSO2 potentially due to foreigners. It'll be way off, but at least we can estimate?

I've spent maybe 200 dollars the past 6 months.

50 usd, started playing 2 months ago. My next purchase will probably be to transfer ships if connection issues aren't resolved.
