So why do we spout to eachother that word. and smile so cheerfully?

When in retrospect the meaning behind it is so tasteless for some? or more so, meaningless.

When I thought "friend".
I thought someone whose there for their friends. Offers their time, and requests some in return. Shows respect, and feels comfortable among their friends. and they don't just throw the word around meaninglessly. Doesn't let their friends feel left out, nor lie to them. Trusts them enough to speak to them without fearing them.

Since why would you tell someone your a friend, and never follow through on them words.

That's why i ask. What we all would describe the word Friend as.

I see now though, it is a meaningless word with little value behind it. if any it's a word to describe people of worth, and skill. People of not connectivity between others through mutual respect. But for personal gain, personal expectations. To keep those close who can offer things that you cannot offer yourself.
