Thanks for the heads up. Feels like a PS:P2 + PSO2 mashup in a good way, from the little time I had with it. Seems timed too. Enough timebl to go through the map and run across a Gigantes and take it on for a bit. :)

Those screenshots seem to be at a higher resolution than my Vita screen lol

I'm to lazy to format a memory card only for a demo... so thanks for the videos :P

I thought they upped them

I thought they upped themThe texture quality looks higher, but they're intentionally gritty. I actually kinda prefer it over the "EVERYTHING IS SHINY IN SPACE!" thing PSO2 has going on.

...we must be looking at different things

I'm just seeing very low textures

So the game is only as good as it can get being related to PSO2 huh.

It's gonna have to be a wait and see thing, then.

I'm fairly indifferent about it now. I thought having no Photons would mean something different, but I must have misunderstood because I'm seeing the same chit as before.

Even though they said there are no photons on Machia, they suddenly bring up Gran as a new energy source found on the planet. When I heard that, the only thing to come to mind was: "Not-Photons".

Well, the demo is wierd

No PA's can be charged up. Technics can ONLY be charged up. JA is even less bonus damage. The Gigantes boss takes hits on every single part in range, no matter what weapon you are using. Guard takes up a PA slot (nothing has the old PA combo system). Launcher doesn't exist. Twin Daggers don't exist.

The new Sword PA makes you knock up enemies around you, and you fall down while impaling them for tons of hits. The new Partisan PA is a weak Over End. The new Knuckle PA is a high AoE Flash Thousand which kills the Gigantes super fast. I.. forgot what the Doublesaber one was, they're weak. The new Twin Machinegun PA makes you shoot 4 shots in the air, then fall and messiah time on the ground.
In other news, Razonde is stupidly buff since it can hit like 6 parts on the Gigantes for massive damage on each part.

The Pile(bunker) is ultimately a melee weapon. The Weakpointer PA makes you shoot 2 or 3 needles that stick to targets, and make the next hit do double damage. The other PA's are like a forward rush that explodes, crazy smash, and a sharp bomber that shoots 2 unmissable shots. In the end, not very effective.

The Halo is how you make the floating platforms next to a Gigantes. In the demo, the Buster class has totally broken PA's on it. One shoots a constant laser that you can aim freely horizontally (can't aim up!) and actually isn't broken. Another creates 5 rings around you that take turns randomly flying at nearby targets for really good damage each. The last one is completely broken, it shoots a homing bomb that stops at your target and creates a high damage field that lasts basically forever, making the Gigantes a joke (edit: duh, Cosmos that travels like 5 times as fast)

Speculation. The 'hunter' ally has a Pile and a Partisan. I am super hoping that Buster can choose which melee and magic weapon to have usable (instead of sword and rod).

I really doubt it's awesome since it's just single player pso2

The Walrus

Demo Gigantes was pretty easy. Damage to it's exposed head was like 5x the damage on its normal weak points, it was ridiculous. I really hope Sega brings the new Sword PA over, hell and not having to charge PAs too

Actually, a PSO2 designed for singleplayer could be pretty fun if not handled completely improperly.

Which, I mean, it's not implausible that they handled it improperly, but there's definitely a workable base to create a good singleplayer game.

I wanted to get a Vita TV for this game, but I'll be waiting to play this game (if I bother at all).

Downloading right now. I will give my 3 cents. When I play it. But a offline pso2 with a better senario writer than PSO2? Sigh me up captian

It honestly feels really underwhelming, but that's kind of to be expected with such a short demo of this type of game.

The Walrus
Aug 12, 2014, 07:01 PM
Force seems kind of overpowered in the demo. You can easily ignore using the halo for platforms and just whore Rafoie on its breakable parts to knock the Gigantes down in a couple casts...then Gifoie just shreds through its life on the weak point.

Where's the translation patch?! cmon Aida get with the program!

I'm kidding, just in case that's not obvious, and yes, I know Aida didn't make the patch too, multi-level trolling here.

Seriously though, I hope this does get a fan patch at some point, yes I know it's a console game, it happens sometimes. IIRC Sega flat out said "no" about a localized version though right?

The Walrus
Aug 12, 2014, 07:15 PM
So far yeah they said they have no plans to do it.
Vita would have to get hacked before we could ever get a patch though and I don't think they've gotten that far into it, not that I pay much attention to the Vita hacking community >.>

CFW is a thing on the Vita, but I haven't heard anything about language patches on any game.
I assume once this game launches for realsies, people will compile a walkthrough in English yeah? So don't worry about it. Even I, a mere American, plan on getting this because lol no server-side characters.

Now I just need a Vita.

2128drain
Aug 12, 2014, 08:22 PM
CFW on Vita is only for PSP stuff, and at that nobody ever bothered (or got far enough) to make a patch for Infinity, so top lel if you're waiting for that.

Also is it just me or is there no S.Roll with TMGs?

The Walrus
Aug 12, 2014, 08:24 PM
There aren't weapon actions at all really. Guard is only there because it takes up a PA slot.

It being on a PA slot is a possibility once Nova is released

Well, at least it's a new Phantasy star beyond PSP Infinity, that many people don't have to set up VPN or special routing software to get it to work. Especially for those who want to play on Vita.

Anyway, anyone able to post any fun screens?

I imported my pso2 game for vita so I don't have it set to a japanese psn account. Is it possible to set up a japanese psn on ps3, download the game on that, and transfer the game to my usa psn psvita or will it be tied to that particular psn account?

Ripped soundtrack, for the present Tri-Ace fans:

Those battle themes remind me a lot of Resonance of Fate.

No, you need the same account it is registered in your Vita.

Yes, they did, because after hearing fan input, Tri-ace took it down, and is preparing a new demo with improved running speed and o ther change due to player feed back, as they felt the old demo is not indicitive of the final product.

S Roll is going to be in the game and it seems it won't be a palette action.

I played PSO2 a lot and I can say for sure I will enjoy PS Nova far more.
The craft is no longer a pain and you can customize tons of things.
The base camp, weapons (stats and look), skill board with skill combos.
You have to create everything from materials you find on the planet, in missions (story or "free").
The "orders" from people can give you new missions and other bonuses.
There are 6 types of monsters at least :

- Normal ones
- Armed
- Boosted
- Rares
- Big Monsters (between normal and Gigantes)
- Gigantes (mix of very very big and armed)

I don't know if the Big, armed and Gigantes monsters can be found in boosted or rare state though.

Just seeing "Aerial Advance" description changes everything.
Instead of "does higher damage on ennemies in the air"
It's "gives a chance to blow monsters in the air with your attacks".

Most of the skills can be shared between classes, and it's for example, possible to equip the Pile, with every classes.
And as I'm a big big big fan of Sakuraba + tri-Ace, I can burry PSO2 with a smile.
But that's just me ;-) . (Anyway, I can't play it anymore since the attack this summer, so I have no choice ah ah...)
