Too many of them need to die. They hold back society with broken and honestly just plain backwards mentalities from their tenured positions and oodles of money. The newer generations aren't that much better but they aren't even given a foothold to do anything. Soylent Green needs to become a reality.

Reminds me of a guy from Europe... You probably never heard of him though, so never mind. I understand though, some older folks have a strange way of thinking. It's human though, from generation to generation there is some sort of disconnect in how we think an/or treat each other, it's sad.

I know what your talking about, but it's not just old people, or even old people in general. It's the drama mongering jerks who are so stupid that they think they are right about everything that's fucking shit up for everybody. They don't just wanna stir up the pot they wanna take the pot and throw down a fucking mountain because they wanna feel important. It's literally impossible for these people to calm down and look at things from a logical perspective.

Old people can be really frustrating, though. I don't necessarily wish they would all just hurry up and die or anything, but, like, the way they hold up the grocery line for 15 minutes waiting for a 25 cent coupon to ring up properly, the way they'll insist upon continuing to drive well after they've become dangerous on the road, they way they're prejudiced as fuck, the way they're so nitpicky and flustered and hateful all the time, always causing a scene when nothing's wrong, blaming everything on everyone but themselves...

I started typing this in jest but about halfway through I decided I meant it. Old people that are like blackface for the elderly are super wack, yo. But I guess the sweet hip little grandmas that will smoke pot with the nephews when the whole family gets together and basically just happen too be old are pretty cool in my book.

That fits, like, over half of the internet.

The best example is the person I work with. She is over 65, she has loads of money and her own job, yet she chooses to work at mine as well. She has been with this company for 19 years (I should know, she gloats about it every day) and she is hated by everyone. Every single person she works with hates her. She is borderline racist and thinks that everyone is sexist. The only old person I know who isn't totally backwards or isn't an asshole is my grandmother. I mean, you really don't have to look far for this kind of stuff. Go into any grocery store, department store, supermarket, or various shops in a mall; and sure enough, you should find at least one single person who is ancient and decrepit; clearly out of place and making a miserable experience for someone with their hazy-eyed attitude. Hell, the U.S. Congress is filled with monsters like this. Change and trends are the things that create humanity; and without them, the wonders of invention and advancement wouldn't be possible. I know that a lot of people of other generations are also big offenders on this, but no bigger offenders have I seen than those over the age of 65.

Old people are just young people who stopped caring and didn't grow up in the world that younger people did.

They come from a time where things were different. That world is gone, and it makes some of them bitter, and clearly the bar is set by the worst a group has to offer so all old people should die.

Way to judge a huge portion of humanity based on the vocal ones. Seeya George Takei; you're too old so now you're automatically a terrible person, go die. Robin Williams? One less old person to deal with.

This is why all black people are looting rioting scum and all cops are backwards militant scum, since we're judging all groups by the lowest possible standard that Ferguson has just recently set. Also, all asians are deathcamp-creating monsters and all white people are racist sexist skinheads. All men are greedy megalomaniac rapists and all women are attention-seeking baby-stealing psychopaths.

tl;dr According to your logic everyone is terrible because some people are terrible. Don't do that.

Erm, you're gonna be old yourself, so better think about that because we all are headed there one day. So what you think about old people, you'll see for yourself one day what is like to be treated like road kill, left there until someone bothers to dispose of it.

I don't think he's against old people for "being old", it sounds like he's more angry about their "back in my day ____ was so much better!" mentality and how it's currently hindering societal progression because they're all so averse to major changes in politics, religion, cultural tolerance/acceptance, etc.

To which I agree. The sooner the oldest generations croak, the better off the world will be, but I'm not cheering for it to happen as soon as possible.

The problem is, that's just the frame they place their opinions in.

Plenty of young people are exactly the same way, they just act on what they want instead of talk about what they wanted.

The only real difference is the starting point. The world is different, but the same types of people are still being born. They act on their interests in a modern setting, using the modern world to their advantage. The older people in question had a different world they worked in, and are vocal about how they can't do the same things anymore.

Make no mistake, younger generations are full of just as many assholes who would take advantage of you in a heartbeat. Removing the pruny people won't solve shit.

Ehn, the world will just become a different kind of horrible/annoying as time goes on.

Maybe by the time we're dead things will get better.

Which is funny, because we're all going to have the same mentality when we get older. (I had a link for a source backing that up, but I've lost it.)

The difference is that I plan to commit suicide or have some sort of contingency to rid myself should I ever become a plague or blight to society or my family should I ever get to this position. I'm still hopeful for cybernetic or genetic modification to help the aging process or even extend it in the future due to modern medicine but that is besides the point.

Yes, I don't hate old people for being old; it is their mentality from being unwilling to accept change that I take issue with. This mentality is stuck in older people who end up being a blight to society, thinking that elderly respect supercedes mutual respect and that because they are older, they should get special treatment yet they still want all the same benefits and treatments as anyone else would get in their position. Decrepit and parasitic in both action and mentality, this is why I think for the most part they are ruining it for everyone else.

Well, not immediately; would spark a crisis for the young folk to start fucking again. They would die eventually if they didn't so something about it; you're right.

The main issue is that the current old generation, the silent generation if you will, is the most self-destructive and subjugative generation yet. They are literally destroying everything for everyone.

gigawuts
Aug 26, 2014, 09:17 AM
No, they aren't. You're talking about an extremely small number of people imposing their influence on others via a corruptible system that people of all generations and ages have been gaming for centuries.

As for the most self-destructive generation yet, I can think of a couple examples that are far worse.

Read a fucking history book or something. The modern world isn't perfect but it's a hell of a lot better than a whole lot of history, that's for fuckin sure.

Anyway why wait until you're old? Why not just kill yourself now? Are you going to say because you think you can positively influence the world? Hint: Going around saying all old people deserve to die isn't helping anybody.

You're fucking idiotic if you actually believe any of the shit you're babbling. I'm not even trying to be insulting, you must actually have no grasp of what you're saying yet you keep saying it.

Greed and fear are the root causes of all of humanity's problems. Blaming generations is useless. If you're going to generalize "old people", you may as well say that humankind should partake in mass-suicide.

I was going to get to that after asking if all sick people should be terminated, and if fetuses with detected genetic illnesses or defects should be aborted.

Because, I mean, humanity really would be better off without Stephen Hawking and other similar cases.

"The Viltrumites possess a totalitarian system of government, with an empire spanning thousands of worlds. The Viltrumites are warlike and violent as a race, and will often kill weaker members of their society for "purity".[4][5] The Viltrumites are a technologically-advanced race, and possess such technology as star ships, light speed travel, and wormhole creation. The Viltrumites were the dominant presence in much of the Milky Way galaxy for thousands of years until the Scourge Virus was created and used against them. The Scourge Virus cut the Viltrumite population down to only about 50 members. Invincible was infected by the Scourge Virus when his brother (Oliver) accidentally shot him with a gaseous form of the disease. Invincible recovered, although he was left without superpowers for a period. After the Viltrumite War, the Viltrumites were reduced by even more, with less than 35 members currently alive today."

Who'd want to be these assholes?

This is a narrow mind of thinking. It isn't the old people that are the problem, it's the viewpoints and "knowledge" that gets passed on from generation to generation, knowledge as hard to get rid of for a child who's had it instilled in them since birth than it is to get rid of blood.

What really needs to happen isn't for people to just be killed off for having it instilled in them that *insert race or creed here deserves to die because x reason*, that's literally no better than what they've been taught.

As for what needs to happen, nothing. There isn't shit you, me, or anyone else can do about what a family passes down to their kids, and their kids their own kids. The only people who can do anything about it is the children themselves, they have to make the decision to believe what they're told, and whether to carry that into their own families future or not.

Frustrating, yeah, but that's a part of life. You can't control others, but you can control your own emotions, and how you react to other people's feelings/ideas/opinions. Just my $0.02 though.
