View Full Version : So I've just checked out the upcoming Skill Trees for the first time...

It really took them 2 years to figure out that organizing everything in categories was the way to go in order not to waste skill points on stuff you didn't want?

Anyway, on the positive, they are very well done and I can't wait to use them.

Where do you guys plan to put your extra skill points that will be liberated in these new Trees? Also, if we eventually reach Lv100, where do you plan to put the rest of these points?

This is what I'm currently sitting at, but obviously since we don't know the exact stats of everything yet, everything is still up in there air.
This is for a BR/FI main with HU sub. (Until I reach level 70 or whatever)

My Fighter tree is still up in the air as I haven't played much fighter and also don't know if the new skills are worth investing into. (I honestly don't know where to go from there)

Hunter tree is also a bit weird and wondering if I should invest some points in other places.

Braver build is standard, not changing except putting extra points into attack advance... which not even sure if it's going to be worth it or not. If not I'll find somewhere else to put them XD

Don't let people tell you how to play, just enjoy the game. If you feel you want to change things around, it's pretty cheap to do so.

Speaking of elements, anyone else feels like Wind was just added in there to give Techers 3 elements? I think only 1 enemy in the entire game so far is ONLY weak to Wind and it might be rare one.

Yeah, Oob's. Yours look fine... -ish, kinda. You have a goal and you do what you think fits that the best. Even if it's intentionally straying from what's generally perceived as "good" you're not purposefully sabotaging yourself by going halfway into decent skills and investing in things that serve no function whatsoever.

I think we knew wind was coming a long time ago from dataminding.

But techer and bouncer were probably considered for day1 as well.

They should have brought back Earth Techs from PSU instead. I know I'd be more afraid of receiving a bolder in my face than a draft of Wind.

I can live without spamming poop shaped rocks from above again, but otherwise would be easy to make cool looking earth techs.

Can mix in some plant/wood looking attacks in there or something.

I wanna say get automate so you can be immortal, but I dunno if your hunter tree has points for it without taking from something more important to your build.

I wish the proc rate would be better with low levels. .-. Might be worth it anyway since it should try to proc more often with Deband Toughness and the increased Massive Hunter uptime, but I dunno. Just have to try out and find out.

They should have added earth and water techs with BO, and given it High Up Masteries for each element in its elemental stance tree (+40% for 10 sp).

Often the destructive force of wind is because of the debris that it picks up and throws at you at high speeds. It's not just a gentle breeze that blows your hair, but a sheet of scrape metal slicing through you at 150+mph.
(The other issue is the amount of force/lift. But even that isn't merely a "draft of Wind")

If not for the changes they are making in EP3 to correct some of their mistakes (Skill Trees, Lv1~15 PA/Techs, etc.)...
I would still be believing that the reason SEGA doesn't make corrections to old content is because they forgot their admin password

I wonder if SEGA will ever go back and reconsider giving PAs to Wands...

It's pretty easy to get -almost- everything you want. So I am happy that they've made changes to the trees that allow us to 'cut the fat' so to speak.
Unfortunately some classes have it easier than others (and I blame each FO/TE element needed 20 points x3 to max out)... but what can you do about it?

I have no idea what PAs could spring up for wands other than... "hit enemies twice!" or "hit enemies three times quicker but have less power!" To me, wands seem like nothing more than wacking tools, which is.. pretty much how they are already. Seems weird to me :wacko:

I guess they could throw in some flashy moves and have Techer throw in a few techs into it too based on what techs they have in the current palette or something...

Element weak hit on a mono-dark build? Also, the break points for PP convert are 1,3,6,9, and 10. The others don't do anything (it really should be a 5 point skill :/ ).

So only 4 points in pp convert?
I have elemental weak hit for personal reasons.
Can you suggest any other points to spend in Te for my tree?

Why have PP convert on the TE/HU tree at all if you don't mind me asking? (also, you know war brave is main class only right?)

I currently sometimes have issues with PP as TE/HU because there are some situations where techs are just better for the fight (even though they're still pretty weak). Running after some of the bosses is just painful so I like to keep that option available to me.
However, I totally forgot about War Brave being main class only, thanks for the catch, I'll have to make a few changes.

You're only gonna be able to make use of that element weak hit in 2 places if you're doing a pure dark build and care about dps after episode 3, but if you wanna keep it fine.

Shifta adv doesn't add much but it's something. Territory burst are primarily for zondeel, but you can also use them for Zanverse if you're in a good position to use it in an MPA. Maxed PP convert can help you regain pp while casting instead of just maintinging it so that when it wears off you have more PP to burn. T-atk up2 because it's better than 1 and I dunno what else to squeeze damage from on Techer.

Sword are just slicing tools, Knuckles are just punching tools, Twin Machine Guns are just shooting tools.... (etc.)

Obviously PAs would either be for damage (Backhand Smash), Utility (Kanran), Special effects (Banishing Arrow), Positioning (Assault Buster), or they even have PA+Tech Combos now (Jet Boots).
Why would it be impossible to create PAs for a wand? Beyond a lack of imagination that is.


And about multiple trees... I do want multiple trees, for my FO/TE classes. (Probably missed that line that says "I'll probably need more trees" I guess? I did go out of my way to hide it afterall)
I don't see why many of my other classes should get more than one though. I'm missing out on... the Guard Tree? First Hit/Killing Bonus? Aerial Advance? Break Stance? Or maybe... *gasp* I can throw 10~20 Skill Points into +50/75 on stats!
Honestly, the things I'm "missing" on HU/RA/GU/BO really don't seem like things I would want a second tree for.

Fighter is one other class I might want another for. Things like Half Line Boost can be nice for 90+% Barta, but does nothing for Melee/FI combinations. So I can probably make both a Melee, and Magic FI sub tree.
Then Braver for a Weak Stance (Or even Average/Weak build) for a RA/BR combination or so.

PAs DO sound nice for wands, don't get me wrong. I just can't think of any PA that hasn't already been taken by another class. Because I mean... look at Knuckle's Meteor Storm and Partizan's throwing whatchumahcallit. And Partizan's Vol Graptor and Bullet Bow's Banishing Arrow.

Just the concept of recycling stuff and dubbing it as "new" is bothersome to me, not to mention that it may just make using any particular weapon meaningless since its role is already fulfilled by another.

It doesn't. You'll get Injury, which temporarily decreases your max HP so I think it only triggers if you reach 50% of your new max HP... but don't quote me on that.

I've brought it up a few times whenever we talk about Te PAs, they could have tapped techniques change into a PA depending on element and tier. For example, beginner wind techs could be an upward smack with a wind blade attached to it, intermediate could be the same with a follow-up jumping upward strike that launches enemies and advanced the same as intermediate with a mini tornado follow-up. That'd make... 18 PAs? We'd never get more, but that should be enough anyway.

Alternatively, they could recycle PAs from other weapons for wand like they did with a certain story encounter, but that's kinda boring...

Updated my last speculation build a bit.

For Hunter, decided to get Iron Will/Never Give Up and also get rid of the other 2 gears, since I'm not going to be maining HU and just get Step Advance cause idk where to put those other points. Edit: Without Step Advance I could get the other 2 gears and a point into rare mastery hunter if I want.

Fighter is.... well, Fighter. Non-crit build if those 2 new skills are worth it.

Braver, got rid of J Reversal Cover (because Just Guard Heal) and Combat Escape and put those points into Average Stance Critical, rest is the same.

Combat Escape is a luxury, not a necessity, imo. Granted, you do lose some DPS time for blocking/dodging instead of actually attacking. But I guess Iron Will and Never Give Up play their part here.

+720 T-atk with photon flare potent...
with 120 sec cooldown... crossfinger :)

I'm seeing a lot of builds with no points in Step Advance. Does nobody plan to put the standard three points into that skill now that it's not needed for Step Attack? Isn't that going to make dodging really hard?

I actually have tried photon flare tree.
It was a waste of points.

Um what happens is I do less than average damage than playing a balanced tree but when I pop photon flare I do slightly more than average tree for 30 seconds, slight like a couple hundred points of damage more.

Yeah wasted 500 AC to test that.

But if you want you can try photon flare tree since they buffed it.
I still think it sucks after trying it first hand.

Edit: Forgot you can use motav to make it worth it, hope you like motav!

It adds more invincibility frames to the animation. Basically, for x amount of time when you're doing the step dodge, or the combat roll for RAs, if an enemy tries to attack you in any way, you're invincible and can't be hurt. Adding points into the skill increases the window of time that you can be attacked during step/roll and not be damaged.

Is that a bit more clear?

I Step dodge as Fo/Te and Ranger a lot with a gunslash and it still works just fine without Step Advance. You don't really need three points in it either since two is pretty much the same amount (.09 rather than .11) but there are lots of other skills to get.

Photon Flare is just bad though. Decent with a Motav but no more than 1SP since it scales like shit. At least the new duration makes it finally better than T-Atk Up, but not the new values if it's really 100 base Atk passively. You should never max PF unless you've literally nothing else to pick up as far as damage or stats are concerned.

Edit: Oh, just saw this:

Yeah, I just tested Halfline Slayer with PP Convert. It's based on your new max HP, so Limit Break won't trigger anything, and in fact can even lose the bonus you already had before you used it.
