Just remember, even with all the cool entries that were submitted, if they won, they'd probably look terrible in-game.

Mag is spot-on, the winners were likely the easiest to implement. As well as the easiest to keep in line with the younger-looking characters that tend to be the most populous/over-advertised for playing this game.

Not enough long coats, battle dresses, uniform-style things, etc. A missed opportunity for some style. The male chars needed it. Casts needed it. This is supposed to be a sci-fi ARPG, not Loli Star Online 2. /rant

This was a really good competition I like the Turtle Mag. Too bad the dragon mags did not win.

Most of the items I wanted was on the list and I really do hope that some of the costumes will have a male counter parts.

This is a sad day for ARKS MAN, the Superhero Everyone Loves! It's also a sad day for anyone with a male force, as we have yet another girly rod camo to throw around. Time to continue slogging through XQs to get a Bio Rod.. At least that looks like a hammer.

SEGA continues to show love to the over-designed, impractical or outright non-combat wear. Maybe we can hope they swap out costume designers in the same way they got a new Balance guy. Perhaps then, we'll see some costumes that cater to people who want more practical designs.

They ARE coming close to 'normal' with Seil's outfit from PSNova, though; too bad it's an item code for PSO2 you get when purchasing the game. Right now, I'm stockpiling Meseta to pick it up from the player shops when PSNova drops.

To me, and this is only my opinion, I feel that most of the costume catalog sums up to "I'd like [outfit] better if it weren't for [that part]', IE: "I would like Leibenschilt (the default HuNewm suit) better if it weren't for all the skin-showing holes in it", or "If it weren't for those crazy huge knees, I would like probably consider using Heavy Scudo". Not a big fan of the tail on Flamegash, but I'm willing to put up with it because I like the rest of the outfit. I can't fathom what went through the minds of the people who came up with the Surge Picaro, Enigma Rebellion and Sapphi Gilias outfits; I never see anyone wearing them when I'm out and about on Ship 10.

Not to mention the smart-ass who brought us Vanis Traitor and Wonder Seeker, two outfits from the girls' side made 'masculine' for the men, of course.

B: Still makes some sort of sense in phantasy star (neighbor quartz is a good one. Orakio pareo+black lace socks/gloves is vaguely like rika's outfit sorta. I love it honestly)

You'd be surprised how little I use sexy bikini or a wedding dress.

To be fair, when you're selling character slots, it would be wise to make sure each character race/gender to be as wanted to be played as possible.

@starwind75043: Sega always ask for all race costume design and nothing cast only. So yes, those female costume will be wearable by caseal also.

Only the Dreamcast mag made it in the top 3 (which I'm assuming the top 3 will be in game and 'others' are just honorable mentions). Well at least I got a those that mag to look forward to. Quite a shame that the Super Hero ARKS and Captain Lilipa din't make it in and hopefully the tribe looking female costume and the Mecha Rappy do actually make it in one way or another.

The "chosen" stuff looked a lot better than the actual winners.
And the stuff Hitoshi linked above looks even better.

I didn't think that much of last year's winners either.

I got around to looking at the other submissions today.
There's a lot of stuff there that'd fit right into PSO2 and look really damn good.
Shame they all got canned. I don't recall seeing any interesting costumes though.

Funny that SEGA seems to be purposely ignoring most of the stuff that would fit into PSO2.
They ought to just write that as a contest condition:
"Item must obviously not fit into the Phantasy Star universe. It must look more at home in any random anime, especially from those that take place in completely different time periods."
