Hey everyone. I've invested quite allot of time into PSO like I'm sure most of you have, but you're all gonna laugh when I've only gotten to the Mines! I'm a level 24 Fonewm, and I love hearing about all these rare weapons and so fourth that everyone has been finding, and I want to be part of it. Can anyone suggest the most powerful weapon available to me at the moment, that way I can beat the Mines boss, and finally open up the Ruins. BTW I'm currently using a Shadow Autogun+3, and I know you all are laughing at me, lol! Also will all those who have found rare items and weapons be as kind as to tell all, like if you can find the rares on online or offline mode, and the difficulty setting in which you have the best luck? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated!

Well I'l help as much as I can. I'm a lvl 74 HUmar with a very few rares cause I can only play offline at the moment. I found the best luck on V.Hard mode hate ta say it but ya got a little ways to go. But that gun will help a lot if you pop in a few ???/arms into your frame. Give you some accuracy. It's prolly tedius but it will work just in and out of doorways. I dunno about other force weapons though heard they aren't supposed to go inta combat. I just found a Chain Sawd last night on v.hard in ruins lvl 3. But my RAcast on the other hand found a photon claw in the ruins on normal so its kinda iffy where they are. The Chain Sawd is much better than the claw though but just stick with it and you shouldn't have too much problems. As for the boss I use sabers but I'm a hunter dunno if forces appeal to sabers. Find a weapon with good Photon's vs machines and you should be in good shape.

Well, I haven't played a Force yet... I'm a Hunter, but I'll tell you what my Force friend has shared with me & what I know as far as general strategy.

1st, if you're a Force using ranged weapons, you'd do very well to get some high slot frame (3 or 4 slots if you can.) & load it up with Marksman/Arms & General/Arms (if you've found any General items yet). 2nd, make sure that weapon in question has a good percentage vs. machines (for the Mines). 20-40% at least. Then Grind the puppy for all it's worth. (Or at least to a +10 - +15).

Alternatively, if you'd like to try your hand at melee combat (against the boss), get yourself a good Brand (w/high percentage vs. Machines & grinded up.) You should be able to weild a Brand by now... If not, Knight/Power & General/Power should help that out quite a bit, and then you good always increase your MAG's POW stat as well.

If you haven't figured it out by now, have the Zonde family of techs available to you, and bring lots o' fluid. Mechs hate that lightning.

Finally, consider cruisin' around the Hard/level Forest online to pump up if you're real worried. It'll be tough, but you'll be finding nicer gear than you currently have, and the experience at your level can't be beat. (You only need be 20th level to start a Hard/Online game)

Good luck!

Heart series handguns which steal TP. My new char(force, lvl 24) is using a Mind Autogun.

I'm a lvl 56 FOnewearl, and what I found that works is using an handgun-like weapon (handgun, autogun, lockgun, etc). Try to get a Photon bonus in machine, with HP or TP steal abilities, or Shock abilities. Rely more on Shock techniques (zonde??) than anything, and make sure you ready your healing/tech items and Resta... http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_smile.gif

Sorry guys, your advice isn't really right for him. I've fought the Mines boss as a level 20-something Force, and it's NOTHING like when I fought him as a 20-something HUmar. Unless you've been there, you don't realize how little damage a handgun toting Force does to Vol Opt.

First things first--the weapon. You're not going to beat Vol Opt with techniques at level 20-something, you're going to do it with a gun. You NEED to get a better, more damaging gun! Otherwise, it will take forever (and if you make one mistake, you'll almost certainly die since you don't have the HP to take a hit from him yet).

I suggest a Mechgun, ideally with some bonus against machine, and grinded up with all the monogrinders you can get your hands on. You'll also need Marksman/Arm in your slots and maybe a Knight/Power to get it to do decent damage.

Second--tactics. You simply lack the punch to take out Vol Opt quickly even with a good Mechgun as a level 24 Force. Therefore, a high priority is taking out Vol Opt's healing unit. If you don't, you could nip away at him all day and never get anywhere. It's his "right arm"--you'll recognize it when he heals up by the glowing yellow bits it makes. When he does his healing routine, hit the healing unit for all you're worth. Once it's taken out, time is on YOUR side.

Forget TP stealing when fighting the boss. I wouldn't trade my Soul Railgun+25 for anything, but I wouldn't go up against a boss with it either. That's what my Mechguns and Charge Repeater are for. Stock up on monofluids and difluids for healing/support spells instead of using a TP stealing handgun.

Use a gun on the screen boss, then a saber on the second form. I'm a force and made all the way to VH Mode, the hard way (alot of deaths). I'm at 75 and still can't take the last form of the last boss. I went there with 18 scape goats too. *shakes head*

What are you talking about? i beat vol opt at level 19 with tecniques. Just run around him and after he has used his 'claws' twice just hit him with 5 lightnings, the cheapest one to save tp. And then just keep running. Buy 2 difluids and 10 monofluids and 10 monomates. You'll use the 2 difluids to defeat his first form. Just stand in the middle of the room, and as soon as the pillarthings comes up hit them with 2 lightnings (the hard attack one) get zapped and then hit them with one more. After you've gotten zapped 2 times use the healing spell. When you've used more than 200 tp use a difluid while waiting for the pillars to pop. As simple as that. The hardest part with him is running around him. I truly hate the way the camera focus works in this game, makes it hard to avoid getting stuck on either volopt or the walls. But if you follow this strat he'll go down easy.

Yes, i'm a lev31 force who don't know that the spells are called http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_razz.gif

Now that I remember, I beat Vol Opt at 19 also. I remember because I didn't have access to Hard online yet. First I tried using techniques, but the damage was disappointing compared to my (not yet grinded) Mechguns.

The first form, of course, is pretty easy anyway. For the second form, I just couldn't get the timing down. I found that whenever I tried more than 1 lightning at a time, there was a chance he'd nab me and I'd die. In contrast, I had the Mechgun timing down good enough to get in a triple combo between attacks.

At the time, my Zonde was doing around 100 points of damage vs 300 or more for the Mechgun combo.
