That's the official stream link. But if you don't have a CR account then you only get a preview. I won't be linking to alternative places to get it since I'm pretty sure that would not be allowed.

Anyway, yeah, this is the anime for the Sega Hard Girls franchise. It seems to be mostly about Sega trivia. We're getting some collab stuff in the near future for PSO2. I sure hope we get Saturn's costume...

No the games are the fanservice part. (see how u rushed to defend em over misunderstanding? total fan bait items.)

But those games are still technically garbage anyway since that's where SEGA threw em.

You know like what they do with ALL their games.

edit: and The stuff they're /actually/ trynna sell will probably be whatever throw-away products they make using these chibi babby characters.

All the timelines, simultaneously.

I'm being serious. I mean, having such an anime over all the timelines could be possible, seeing as how time travel is established in one of them.
But if you weren't going to do that, which timeline would people want to see?

I myself have only played PSZ and PSO2 so I'm limited on my knowledge of the other games and thus the overall relationship of each game to the other outside of Dark Falz being a recurring entity and that some planets are also common to some of the games along with the races.

So I don't really know what timelines there are except for w/e one PSZ references.

All I do know is that there's a lot of potential for one hell of a sci-fi anime and I really wished Sega would wake up and tap into it instead.

actually...that reminds me...
Is there someplace with all of PS's lore?

Here's the discussion thread:
http://www.pso-world.com/forums/showthread.php?t=207203&highlight=almighty

Most common way I've seen people tie the lore together is first its Phantasy Star I-IV, then you have PSO/PSZ. Supposedly then Ragol ends up being Parum in PSU. Its unclear where exactly PSO2 fits in the timeline.

None of this has been confirmed by SEGA, but the arguments can be made to tie these different timelines together. A goal of mine is to write a story that manages to string PSO, PSU, and PSO2 together in some way, whilst also explaining some of the science fiction (Star Trek has been a big help and lets face it, because Photons is not good enough of a reason). The way I'm writing it would lend itself well to an anime I suppose.

EDIT: If we're gonna continue this thread of discussion, it should be it's own thread. This has gone off topic for a bit too long. Either that or PM'ing

EDIT #2: Here, have a timeline of everything: http://gaminggoddess.net/2011/08/24/phantasy-star-timeline-version-2/

Supposedly then Ragol ends up being Parum in PSU.

Someone tried to argue this a long time ago due to the Ragol hallucinations. However, this was debunked because even though even though the system emerged with hallucinations of the PSO areas, it didn't have traces originating from Parum. And the first hallucination came from Moatoob in the form of Forest, then Caves on Neudaiz, and then Mines on Parum, with Ruins appearing on the G. Colony. In the end, it all came from Rykros and Falz's memories having an effect on the solar system. Plus there's that thing about the Ancient Civilization, and Subspace and other plans leading into PSP2, but thats a whole 'nother can of worms.

On the previous topic at hand in regards to what story Sega could choose for a Phantasy Star anime, they can easily lean on PSZ or PSU, as they are already animeish in their presentation(Even PSZ had its own anime opening lol). I'd be interested in a PSZ anime.

... This Sega Hard Girls looks... not good.

I wasn't even sure about it myself tbh. Then you've got that whole going back in time thing and end up getting Red Ring Rico's PC in PSPo2i (although that's really just fanservice).

If SEGA released a freaking official timeline of where everything fits, that'd be dandy. Hell, Nintendo did that with the Legend of Zelda, and that was a lot harder to pull off IMO.

\on topic
I go for more serious anime and such (occasionally some more light-hearted stuff). But this, Imma definitely pass on this one.

This is actually that, leading into it. Dark Falz invades that world and they summon the heroes of Algol, Ragol, Coral, Gurhal and the ARKS to defeat it.

I would buy every action figure if they did that.

landman
Oct 9, 2014, 02:15 AM
Off topic: the only games with alternate timelines are the originals, and three of them follow one single timeline, it's the black sheep the one that splits the final part. PSO2 could be considered to have alternate timelines but in fact everything you do happens and it is presented in a linear way. PSU has alternate paths at endgame, with 4 different endings, but Ethan/Karen should be the canon one, as well as the "good ending" in psp2.

If they made a Phantasy Star anime they could go the OVA way, 3 OVA for PS, PS2 and PS4, something, not sure, about PS3, maybe a miniseries with gen 1, gen 2A, 2B, and gen 3A, 3B, 3C, and 3D.

Right, so I just finished watching the first episode and I can safely say I was laughing SO HARD and pointing out all the refrences I could find. From the game refrences, to the japanese saturn boot sound being the school horn, everything. Also, this is just a hunch but I think that the reason that the character of saturn has 2 different coloured eyes is to do with the saturns hardware actually having 2 different cpu's in it instead of 1.

Japanese Saturn had Power and Reset buttons coloured like that (at least one of the models).

I also enjoyed the first chapter, the others so far have been boring as hell, I only enjoyed a little bit the space channel one, at least the cameos were kind of fun this time.

I don't care much for modern anime so I don't really know what good anime you're talking about, I also hardly think of this as an anime. I watch this show for the multitude of old-school Sega references and cameos. I don't care for the cheap graphics, but this is far from shit from the standpoint of a longtime Sega fan. I don't really see it being very appealing for people unfamiliar with the characters though.

Saturn: You can't put Puyo in a boy's room!

Dreamcast: That's not true! There are lots of things to do!

Mega Drive: Like?

Dreamcast: You can help him come back from his obsession with 2D anime, or make him wake up and stop buying everything from clothes to household goods to food on the internet! Or smack some sense into him until he stops trying to pick fights with famous people on Twitter!

That last line was spectacular.
