I know one of my friends can't connect without proxy now where as they could before. However I couldn't connect without proxy and now I can.

Anyone else able to connect without needing one now since ddos? Post your ISP as well please.

Make sure you try to connect to pso2.jp/players when testing if you're able to.
Sometimes, pso2.jp will load but you won't be able to go any further.

Did your browser load a cached version of the website? (Like if you had used your phone that had access as a hotspot and connected your computer). That happened to me once and I about jumped for joy, then I tried to log in and I could not. :/

General method of confirmation: Post a traceroute to pso2.jp and Ship 2 (gs016.pso2gs.net). Otherwise, I wouldn't believe any of this.

I can connect to pso2.jp/players from southern New Jersey, using Comcast.

The launcher, while it still does take awhile, eventually loads as well. Unsure about actually connecting to the servers though. However, here are my tracert results to Ship 2:

I assume this means I can connect to it. Hopefully this stays; my AWS free tier expires in June of next year, still a good bit of time, but I'd rather not continually rely on the proxy.

It looks like the /25 routes in the 210.189.208.0 range that previously were covering the /23 are no longer being broadcasted. In theory, this should allow for general traffic to start routing through the /23 again, which is why we suddenly have operable routes going again.

I don't know if this is temporary, but it is promising. Everyone should try running their traceroutes on 'pso2.jp' and 'gs016.pso2gs.net' if your connection wasn't working previously. Verizon, at the moment, seems to be out, but then again Verizon always seems to be slow to update their routes.

Check it out and report back; this is a very promising development.

just a reminder that for most people, gs016.pso2gs.net is the server that most people are going to care about (ship 2)

if you are correct about that /25 route no longer being broadcast, that is great news.

It's an improvement, but not really perfect yet. Verizon (checked through my phone) and Sprint (checked through the looking glass) aren't routable yet, either. It might take a week or two for routing tables to be updated, so I would say a little more patience is necessary.

If things haven't improved within two or three weeks, I think some further investigation might be necessary.

While Comcast connects normally now, myself and a few people I know are going to continue to connect through a VPN. We have no idea how long this will last; could be a few days, could be a few years. There have been a few instances where things came back up, only to fail to work several days later.

Long story short; I wouldn't dismiss the vpn just yet.

Same here, except I'll use the Proxy still.

If, say, in a few months Comcast still is able to connect just fine, then I'll switch back to a normal connection.

From my own network...

Comcast is working in many areas in Massachusetts. I used the VPN for a while and rather enjoyed it. Even bought a license for proxycap. Thanks to Amazon's service and their ability to change server locations allow me to play a lot of Korean games that are Region-Locked as well.

Now I am getting a lot of reports on Verizon FIOS users not being able to connect.
