View Full Version : How do you set up your attack menu?

I noticed, through screenshots, that the people who have GCN PSO now and also had/have DC PSO set their attack menu up like so:
____O <-- Whatever
__x <-- Light Attack
X <-- Heavy Attack
New players to the game keep it the way it comes:
____X <-- Heavy
__x <-- Light
O <-- Whatever
Does this seem true to you? How do you have yours set up and did you play DC PSO?
Just a thought...

Here's how Liquid Bacon, my battle character was:
Main: Strong attack/Normal attack/Zonde

Mine's set up like this:
B - Foie
A - Attack
X - Resta
R+B - Gibarta
R+A - Special Attack
R+X - Gizonde
I changed the layout as soon as I started playing, I hate the default layout.

I keep things close to the default gamecube setup for challenge mode, since challenge resets the layout. Yeah, I was tempted to make things like the dreamcast layout.

Lets see....
Main: Strong attack/Normal attack/special attack
R: resta/zonde/foie
I sometimes change that around a bit...but i like the special attack since it gives me back some TP, which is important to a force.

Dreamcast/Xbox versions, swap B and X on GameCube version.
X: Normal Attack
A: Heavy Attack
B: Healing (Resta, Mono/Di/Trimates)
R+X: Situational Technique/Special Attack
R+A: Situational Technique
R+B: Mono/Di/Trifluids
If an Android character, I would have Special Attack, Moon Atomizers, and Sol Atomizers (X, A, B, respectively) on the R-Panel.

When using my favorite (HUcast), I set it up like this:
X- Dimate or Trimate
A- Power Attack
B- Normal Attack
X+R- Trimate or Star Atomizer
A+R- Fire/Freeze/Confuse Trap
B+R- Telepipe
When using Forces, I set up the buttons as follows:
X- Monofluid or Difluid
A- Normal or Special Attack
B- Zonde/Gizonde
X+R- Barta/Gibarta
A+R- Resta
B+R- Foie/Gifoie
And for using Rangers:
X- Dimate or Trimate
A- Power Attack
B- Normal Attack
X+R- Monofluid or Difluid
A+R- Shifta or Foie
B+R- Deband or Resta

I avoid having the Normal attack on the pick-up button (A button). When I was still pretty new I found out how annoying it was to have an item drop at my feet as I was pressing that button to attack, but being thwarted by lag. Since more often than not I'd start a combo with a Normal attack, it got to be a real pain in the ass. So from there on I set my Normal attack button somewhere else. For the DC I put it on the X button, and now on the GC I put it on the B button. My setups vary depending on the area and situation, but my most common setup for weapon users looks something like this on E1&2...
B: Normal attack
A: Heavy attack
X: Special attack or Rabarta/Damage trap
R+B: Zalure/Freeze trap
R+A: Jellen/Confuse trap
R+X: Resta/*mates

When I sarted I wanted to setup it like in DC but I thought is better to get used to this because is a pain to change it in challenge everytime.
I do it like this in androids.
B: Heavy Attack A: Normal Attack X: Special Attack
R+B: Sol, Moon or Star Atomizer R+A: Trimate or Dimate R+X: Monomate or Dimate.
The good thing is to evade traps and the slowdown near enemies I only have to press R and not that bothering open the game menu or chat menu.
