Players showing up during questing?

Hey guys,

I'm a PSO from dreamcast vet, just started playing PSO2. I was just curious as to something I sometimes experience while questing.

Sometimes i'll be just questing away in a map, and some random players appear and start fighting mobs with me, and they're not in my party. Any idea what this is?

You're in a multyparty area, where up to 12 players can play.
Tipically 3 parties of 4 people or 3 people with 3 npcs each.

You were probably in an MPA area. Generally, area 2 (sometimes even area 1) of Free Explore type missions allow other players who are also doing that mission to just "show up". There are also EQ missions (those announcements you may have heard every few hours in-game) that are designed specifically to have up to 12 players at all times.

Also, there is a thread topic on here designed exactly for questions. It's literally called the "Quick Questions" thread & it is 99% of the time on the front page of PSO2 General.

Multi party areas on the Map. up to 3 parties of 4 can play on a single map for a total of 12 players. The game will auto-match the parties together randomly.

lol. Very unlikely. Pso2 is the most fun i've had with a pc game in a while.
