This thread is dedicated to the fashion of PSO2 and a platform for everybody to show their design.

★Fashion Thread then & now★

We had a lot of posts the past year and they did showcase lots of different styles. With all those posts we saw people entering the fashion scene and some leaving it, though a certain crowd always stayed.
There have been times where the rules have been slightly forgotten, especially the rule about going off topic. While it is totally fine to go off topic some times, we would like to keep it at a minimum however, so that newcomers and people that do not post so often, do not get overlooked.
It’s been a nice year and I thank all of you for your ongoing support and your respect for this thread. It wouldn’t be possible without all of you!

A few words towards the Topic of Fashion now.
Fashion is for all of us a way to express our self and enjoy a different aspect of this game. By giving our characters personality through how they look.
Each of us, has a different view on fashion and what we like and enjoy. In this thread however, we can all come together to share our fashion with each other and also enjoy the fashion of other people. Of course everybody has a different taste to what they like when it comes to fashion, so always keep that in mind. What you my like others might now and vice versa.
But we can offer advice and our opinions in form of constructive criticism, to help others improve their style or get a different view on it. This has helped many people with their characters in the past. Together we can work out great things and we should try to help each other, even if they sometimes do not want to hear it.
It would be nice to see some more constructive criticism this year, so if you have some, share it!

Got a Parallel Area yesterday during my hunt for pictures, and today, got yet another Parallel Area, which thus called for another take of pictures!

Is this a place to ask for fashion advice or just to show off characters?

Both. Generally, people post screenshots of outfit/accessory/pose combinations they like to show them off. Sometimes they ask for opinions on what could be done differently.

Alright then, I need some accessory advice.

What accessories would go well with this hair, color, and outfit?

Front (eyes half closed, IK lol):

Some kind of neck accessory perhaps. Such as a muffler or a necktie (not bowtie). Just make sure it looks good in the preview and doesn't clip too badly.

Also I don't think the teru teru bozu works well with the rest of the outfit.

Generally though, your character looks good. No need to add even more accessories just for the sake of it. Often less is more.

By the way you can turn off the interface showing when you take screencaps, in the options.

After you select the cut in you wanna use press space and type nw

Use custom camera angles from the quick menu. Also don't forget to turn UI off.

The two posters above already explained the expressions, just add nw at the end of your command.

Eyes need to be placed a little higher. If that can't be done at least emulate the effect by lowering the eyebrow position a bit.

not in the vanilla version, but there is a oculus rift mod somewhere that gives that though it's still in development. (And it breaks the ToA, just like our very existence in the server)

Aside from the oculus mod, depending on what you want to do, you can use the camera options to force your character out of frame to take shots.

For example, this shot was taken with my character just to the left, then panning the camera.

When doing shots like this, it's a good idea to take your mag off and use lobby actions that put you close to the ground (like Bed or that one that makes you twitch on the floor) to minimize the potential area your character model can show up in.

Alongside the nw (No Window) that everyone else has also told you, there's also sXX, where S stands for seconds and XX is a number. So-

/ci6 2 nw s60

That'll get your character to close their eyes and talk, with no cut-in window, and they'll have that facial expression for 60 seconds. 60 might be a bit long for your needs but you get the idea, it'll give you a bit longer to get that perfect shot.

I'm not exactly an expert on positioning :S Any tips?It helps to look at a drawing guide and a reference picture for any details. Here's an example (http://www.drawspace.com/lessons/view/h01):

You only have so much freedom with all of these distances (distance between bottom of nose and top of lip, as well as top of head to top connection to ear are basically static for any particular "Face Type"). Thankfully, the style of the game gives a fair amount of leeway, and even without that you can bend a bit from that depending on what you want to do. It's great for checking your work though.

At the very least, I'd say the top of the eye should line up with the black line above it if at all possible. Most cartoon styles (including anime) generally still line the top of the eye with the ear vertically even if the eyes are much bigger than on a realistic face. You can try having the middle/bottom of the eye line up with it, just make sure that you look at it a hairstyle that has low bangs to see if you like it. That should also make the lower line placements more "normal".

While I'm here:

I had some facial changes and fine-tuning to make so I decided to go over it with the same idea. It was mostly about the nose, though eyes are also a problem.

I couldn't get the eye to vertically line up with the ear (newman ears 2big), so I can't even take my own advice. I could just make the face much smaller to fit it on, but then it looks odd with a max-height character.

Nope. Go to Quick Menu, then Camera Select. You will have the option to select three camera types aside from normal, and you can adjust them just like the digi ichi.

With the Free Makeover Pass from the log-in campaign coming up, I was thinking of changing Kayla's hair color from its current jet-black to more of a dark brown.

This is the color I settled on:

If I don't change the color, I'm just going to do some minor body adjustments to Noland (fix his T-Rex arms). Thoughts?

A side-by-side comparison would have been nice, but so far, it looks like the change to hair color seems so minimal, that I wouldn't bother with it and fix Noland's "T-Rex arms" instead. But I suppose it also depends on how much you play Kayla as opposed to Nolan and whether the jet black hair color is bothering you THAT much.

Good point; here's a comparison of the current color, the color I posted earlier, another slightly lighter color, and my support partner's hair.

This is a comparison between the current hair color and the color that my support partner has, just to show the problem with the makeover shop lighting. In the cutscene's lighting, the hair looks much more brown than red.

Didn't notice the edit 'til just now. The change is subtle, but the modified nose does look a lot better since it now has a bit more shape to it. The eye change is okay I guess, but it seems to change the face's expression a bit too much.

Thank you. I am leaning toward going with option 1 just for that bit of change. The SP color is just there to show the color I worked backward from; it is way too light for the look I'm going for. Either way, this is just a potential thing to use that Free Makeover pass on.

Keilyn has seven stages in her back story.

In PSU I did stage 3 (PSU-NA) while in PSU-JP I did Stages 0 and 7. In PSO-2 I did Stage 2 and now Keilyn is grown up for Stage 4.

My last two pictures of Keilyn before growing her up. I had decided that Keilyn would "grow up" to the 4th phase after crafting all the wands she needed to Silva-Level grinds along with ADD CLASS FIGHTER.

Notes: I like Alternating a lot between Under Armor and No Body Paint a lot on Costumes. Under Armor is amazing on Luna Prophecy, and covers her up when in use. However, I wanted to see how she looked without it.

Oh yes, :) I must at least put a picture of fan-dancing with a great friend. :)

We decided to get together back to back wearing the colors we love best. Myself with my Black/Purple theme, and my friend with the White and Gold (who got me addicted to this dance) in Team Room under the Cherry Blossom Tree.

I was considering giving him cat eyes but they cost a pretty penny and the preview doesn't really show them off in good enough lighting for me to judge if they'll look good on him.

I've been saying I wanted to make a female character for a while but didn't feel like starting a new game so I just made a support Partner to solve that issue. Meet Ruuki.

My only complaint is the fact that they're so small even at max height.

Here we go. Finally got a picture of Saya. Had to get her drunk first... Then she put on a mask. She still has the gourd. She thought she was a bird... crow to be precise. Kept cawing. Wouldn't shut up. So I put sleeping pills in her drink and took her back to her room.

I meant to shift the angle of the camera so Ellie would be on the right side of the screen before the sun went completely behind the floating island in the distance, but I didn't make the correction in time and...frankly felt too lazy to fix it. Still turned out well overall though, I think.

I like the look of the kimono, but I think the scarf-thingy clutters the look a bit; might look better with the version that doesn't have it. Also, the Santa dress would probably look better with some stockings.

Thanks! I've been trying to mix things up a bit with the posing and trying for some different outfit styles for some different ideas. Magia Savior in general has always been something I've waffled on whether I like or not but its been starting to grow on me.

As for the room, I've kinda kept it the same for a long time and I'm kinda afraid to change it because I like it too much. Really though, most of it is like 99999999999 flower boxes xD

Which one is better?

Of the two choices, I'd say go for the first because the purple in the outfit matches the color of the hair pretty well, but I tend to bias towards outfits that are more conservative so... :-?

Actually, in game her hair has more of a lighter brown color but in the lighting with some of the screens it kinda looks more like a dirty blonde. Too preferential to redheads and freckles to make her a blonde :-P

I like the look of the kimono, but I think the scarf-thingy clutters the look a bit; might look better with the version that doesn't have it. Also, the Santa dress would probably look better with some stockings.

Unfortunately, you cannot change underwears. It'd be hilarious if you could though. It comes default with each outfit and the color always differs dependent on the original color of the outfit (I think).

Tights don't cover up the underwear, not sure what Sega was on when they thought of that.

I decided to change Erin's hair. I think the Alicia Twin gives her a nice, sporty look, so I took off the scarf and ear parts to go more in that direction. I also changed her eye color to match the lights on the Magashi ears.

Basically my thought I went with was how Quna's concerts were basically to promote and support ARKS, so my idea was basically a young ARKS recruit that is hurrying to get to the concert, probably looking behind at someone else coming along.

Actually because of their skin color palette being much larger, I found it easier to make a dark skinned cast than a non-cast. My character:

A general tip is to type "/ci9 1-5 s30 nw". "/ci9" for the wink emote, "1-5" for the angle, "s30" so you can have the emote running for 30 seconds in a loop with no cut in, and "nw" for no cut-in. Now you can plan your pose with the emote your going for! LOVE your character designs btw! Dat first Cast! <3
Even your partner character has some love and thought behind him it seems! :)

So, I'm debating on changing Erin's color scheme due to the Magashi Ears; I love the way they look, but the purple accent has been irking me lately since it doesn't match anything else (not even changing eye color helped this feeling).
So here's Erin's current color scheme: red main color, dark red subcolor 1, red subcolor 3.

And here are some of the new color schemes I came up with with subcolor 3 matching the lights on the ears. The change of the main color is toward a purple/maroon from red, and the change of subcolor 1 is toward a lighter purple from the brownish red. The schemes are a mix of those and the original colors.

Thoughts, opinions? Am I being too neurotic regarding a tiny thing like that accent color?

(Also, the move to purple accents is completely coincidental in regards to Keilyn's Erin.)

Okay maybe I notice a little difference now. But either way, if its that subtle, nobody else is going to notice it, so its really your choice.

Sometimes when I realize Im being picky about something silly like the difference between sky blue or aqua blue, just pick one and be done with it. Youll feel better after.

They all look nice, but honestly I do like the original best... Just to throw a spanner in the works =P

I like the red/red combo- I've never been a fan of radically different coloured trim, and the purple on the headpiece looks more like a light to me rather than another colour. Each to their own though, if it's been bothering you then maybe a trial changeover would be good.

I can totally understand how you feel. Sometimes, especially with casts, when there is an accessory I like and it clashes with my casts colors, no matter how small the color clash is, it annoys me to no end. I often change the colors of my Caseals because of this, what else to do when there is that one awesome accessory!

A general tip is to type "/ci9 1-5 s30 nw". "/ci9" for the wink emote, "1-5" for the angle, "s30" so you can have the emote running for 30 seconds in a loop with no cut in, and "nw" for no cut-in. Now you can plan your pose with the emote your going for! LOVE your character designs btw! Dat first Cast! <3
Even your partner character has some love and thought behind him it seems! :)

Your Dewearl reminds me of mine with the Fiona hair, dual Dewman infected eyes, full lips and eye shadow (aka, good combo! ^_-)

I do like the original, but I understand why you would want to change the accent.
If you really want to keep the magashi ears I would go with design 04, it stands out the most. The colors just look great together and on the char.

Tho if you are not sure if you going to use the magashi ears for longer I wouldn't bother much, your current design is just as good.^^

Thanks for the feedback. I ended up deciding to go with 04, but I darkened subcolor 1 a bit more.

Your characters are weird for me I want to like them, but just a tad too skinny for my liking. They don't look bad at all though I still like seeing at all your pictures though.

Weltraum + Knuckles is an awful combination; the hand parts are big enough that they'll clip right into all but the most comically huge of knuckles. Which is a shame, because otherwise I'd agree that it looks really nice on an array of characters.

I have to tell you, your caseal is one of the best looking characters I ever seen. I'm still drooling(not really but you get the idea) here with such a great theme and design, she's stunning.

However, seeing the angel theme you're going for I'd recommend using Reus Innocente as a head part. It has a more angelic feel to it.

Great job on her face though, I just can't use that face at all and I tried many times, I'm astounded every time I see someone doing a great job with it.

So, I've got two orders inputted for Andy and Olga, got it. Any specific costume for Miss Andy? I know Eddie D there seems to like the good doctor in swimmies.

I'd try making the light hair a bit darker first before writing off the whole thing.

Also, I've helped people out with skin tones, showing that saturation is overall too low to get the color they're looking for. I've been trying to get hair-dyed levels of contrast/saturation with hairstyles and whatnot, decided to try that out for hair specifically. Turns out that saturation is far too low in practice on the hair models (maximum saturation for hair on light is ~45%, hair dye can hit 100% in real life, which is why it's so striking).

So I took a simple screenshot, then boosted the hell out of the saturation. Also raise contrast slightly.

I'm about finished with this scratch. I came in under budget of what I was planning to spend, though I may yet buy another thing or two. But still, it's nice to see that neither hair hit 40m like that atrocity from another scratch. Also, fun fact: the clogs on Suzuna's outfit add 21cm(8in).

Really does look cute.
Regarding the proportions, I usually find the Alice Torso makes proportions seem a bit more odd than usual unless your character is like a stick. Although it's kinda useless to mention this now, before I made Erin, I anticipated the oddness of Cast proportions, so I made one of my support partners a Caseal and built Erin through that using a bikini to properly be able to see proportions. It always bothers me to see how thick a fleshy arm on a cast looks when the arm part looks like a toothpick.

Thank You for your kind words, I am glad my Cast made a fan (I am a huge fan also, lol). Honestly, I think she came out the best of my characters. As for the head parts, I will for sure look into others (new ones and that one that you listed), that is just the only one that I have currently that didn't come with making a Cast by default. At the time I bought it it was 4.2 mil and told myself (because I had a lot less meseta back then) that I would use it if I bought it, so I was just trying it out again lol.

I am confused as what you meant by her face? Do you mean the face variant when in the makeover shop?

I will have to try some things on soon (window shopping), and see if anything catches my eye for some new pictures of her.

The Kushinada is excellent. Hugs my figure nicely and the coat animates better than I thought it would when in motion. I was going to color change it to my usual purple, but when I put the default pink on, I liked it as it was, so I'll leave it as is. I decided to combine it with a short hairstyle since this thing clips enough as it is. I really wish they'd start considering that people are going to use hairstyles besides the one in the concept art when they make these things.

Really not pleased with this "pay seven figures for a fleshie outfit" crap that's been happening since Ep 3 though.

You can make some interesting insectoid armour with it, the Japanese love insectoid mecha, I do too and that accessory was around 2 mil, so it's pretty nice to see it for FUN now.

Agreed. Accessories are accenting features first and foremost. It's best to go for an accessory if you feel like your ensemble is missing something, and you need to fill the space. Beyond that, complexity for the sake of complexity is pointless. Just go with what you think looks good.

The coat is the best part of that outfit (though I like the outfit in general). Though it makes me want a real cloak/cape. I love the way it moves, especially when using Dual Blades.

We needed a costume that could give character a little more presence as arks in combat. The coat does it well.

So when you're just running from location to location, it gets really annoying to see that issue front and center until some new spawns come up.

Twin Daggers or Wired Lance + Ultra Hard Blades camo = no problem! (Dear Sega, please make this camo applicable to Dual Blades).

But seriously, any kind of cloak/cape/whatever that is animated on the back is going to have this problem. It looks sufficiently awesome with weapons in hand that I'm willing to put up with it when the weapons are stowed.

I don't have much to mix and match, but I love the look of CV CAST parts and the sleek/gradient look they get. So, made an impulse purchase of the Saihajin CV set to reward myself and start a collection going. Needed a new color job since I was getting sick of the default I rolled with. I wanted to do something wasp/bee like with the set... but I couldn't pull away from the color of orange for some reason and really liked this:

I'd say that's a very cool CAST. Orange/black isn't a color scheme that's done very well too often, but you pulled it off. Not sure how I feel about the four-prong extension on the back, though.

I think the pixelation is from the motion blur effect, you should be able to turn it off in game at the options.

I have a Caseal (female CAST) that fits really well with Orange/Black colors too.

Orange+white+black always looks good on mechs.

My main char used to be orange + grey, but I can still say : good job on your cast, it looks cool!
Orange is an underrated color (then why did I change?... well I got tired of it.)

The main problem with those accessories is that you use CV parts, so it ends up with your cool orange sub going main, and then the accessories base themselves on your black main color, which ends with those BIG BLACK BLOCKS in your back. And, well, it kinda ruins the smooth color transition you have going on.

I loved this part combination when I made, but it looks so much better with the CV scheme wow, normally they get worse. I'm more of a bulky fan so I never actually used it more than 10 min orso.

Try not to cut off the top of the head like that. It's a good picture, though. I might have tried to shift her to the right a bit more, though, to put more of the cityscape in the background. It almost looks as if she's trying to peer around the corner, maybe.

That's all it took for me to start playing Andy more seriously. Well, it wasn't a total 'remaking', but more of a tweaking that I knew needed to be done, since her neck and chin looked like shit, she was way too short, and her 'assets' weren't quite as I thought they should be.

it's really refreshing and exciting to rework a character. It really should make you want to use them more.

As for your picture - not a fan of those legs even a little bit, but the rest of her is great. Good color scheme, too. Could use a different eye pattern, but I'm sure that will come in time and all that.

I think the legs looks slightly out of place on her, but other than that, she looks great!

I actually want to make a caseal myself. The weird thing is though I want to make her seem more like a cyborg than a CAST. I always had this idea about what if a human was critically injured and they needed a cyborg body? Obviously they'd resemble a CAST more, but I'm still debating in my head how to do it.

I actually really liked the look here! I thought the legs fit well with the arms you picked out, considering the revealed ball-like joint. Maybe could use a little more coverage with them, but you did good working with what they gave you!

I took your advice, and loved how well the Baldur Body complemented the Saihajin Arms and Legs!! I thought it fit so well I grinded out a bit of dosh for one. Was a little torn using either the normal or CV, but I thought the CV won out in the end due to a little less orange shown.

Baldur Body gives it that kinda 'tail' the Saihajin and Ronia do, except a lot more fitting with the edge look than a small glowing knob like Saihajin, or the lost black twin tails the Ronia gave me.

Looking away from the camera shot was kinda cool, accidentally snagged this when positioning. Really liked it, if only I could lower a single shoulder just a tad for that more movie poster look:

Also, I learned how to pose. So (maybe) some cooler shots than front-side-zoolander-back once I figure out how to capture these better!
