Hey all this is Sentry, I have been a long time fan of the PS series since I played 2 on the genesis and finally got to play 1 on the master system years later. I am downloading the game using the pso2 tweaker right now. Not sure if this is the right way to do it or not lol.

From what ive read and seen on YT it looks like Ship2 is where most of the English Community is at and so I will be looking to hook up with some players and a guild there hopefully later this evening.

I have been playing MMOs since UO with extended stays in UO, DAoC, WoW, EQ, EQ2, WAR, AoC, Aion, BnS(CN)

Once I get an IGN I will post it up here when I am logged in. If there is no voice chat currently, I have a 200 user Game Vox server that is now empty.

Welcome to PSO2! I recommend you check out the Guides section, there is a lot of helpful information there. Try starting with this thread, (http://www.pso-world.com/forums/showthread.php?t=227342) about gear. Also feel free to ask questions here. (http://www.pso-world.com/forums/showthread.php?t=213385)

So one thing Ive not found any real solid information on as its gone back and forth from reading. Do I need to use a VPN to play PSO2 now or is it still possible to play without one?

Depends on your internet provider. Back in the summer of 2014, there was a massive DDoS attack on the Sega servers & they had to shut the game down for a while. When the game was brought back up, they changed their "information request route" & neglected to tell a lot of companies.

So while there isn't technically a "block" for anyone, quite a few ISP's just "don't know how to connect" to the game's servers. To test if you need a VPN, try clicking on the link here: [ http://pso2.jp/players/catalog/ ].

If you can connect to that website, then you're good-to-go & will be able to connect to the game normally. If you can't, there are a number of VPN options. Some free (like the PSO2 Tweaker Proxy), some not.

Ahhh ok thank you very much for that bit of information. I will find out tonight when I get home from work then. Ill be able to play from the office without an issue which is a plus for the late nights here.

So finally got the game installed and all patched lol. Is the friend invitation thing worth putting in when creating your first character?
