Well. I should have known better than to think that there would be no racism in PSO online. I was in Vega checking out the trade rooms, (like it or not Vega has the best trading rooms in this game, but thats another Topic). And a character named Bruce Lee come in to the lobby saying "Nig.ers are stupid fukking monkeys." I usually would ignore something like that untill 3 other pple started agreeing with him, Continuing their racest remarks to other races too. I dont get it. Whats the point of hateing some one else b/c of their skin color. Black, White, Yellow, Brown. We are all the same, we just do stuff differently. I wish alot of people would see that.

Racism is a strange thing. It is caused by ignorance and it is maintained with bitter feelings. The only way to wipe out this problem would be for all people over all the Earth to drop all racist feelings. That means no discrimination of any race by any other race. That means no race gets benefits that other races do not. The problem with this solution is the same problem with communism: it just can't happen. People love to hate. If you(or your ancestors/family) were the victim of racism then you may be more inclined to seek vengeance in some way. It is a sad cycle which feeds itself(in most cases). It may be a problem that is never solved unless we start equality(not meaning "Seperate-but-Equal" nor Affirmative Action) now.

Once on a lobby (One of my first days on PSO PC Trial), I was waiting for a few friends, when this HUnewearl (whose name won't be said) showed up simply saying that USA suck. She claimed to be from Japan and that her people rules, bla bla blah... All that typical "My country is better than yours" crap.

A few guys asked her why she thought that way, and I ended up reading the most idiot and racist reasons for anyone to hate people.

Then she/he (sounded like a "he") came to me and asked me where was I from. After I answered (why did I do that?), she began her racist comments against the latin people. ("Latin ppl can only wash windows here in Japan they suck and we all laugh at them")
Then I heard her say that she was only kidding, and asked me where I was from again.

I asked which city in Japan she was from, and she replied "HONG KONG".

I wonder why people come to lobbies to tease or offend people just because they are from a certain country or race. I sure wish some people would grow up in this world, and gain a little maturity.

Not quite wrong, but at least players from another country won't receive abuse simply because they're from that country. However, you are right about how players will "focus" their abuse on their own country.

At least there's the mute button for voice communications.

I hate when someone of another race calls me racist because I don't like them, I don't hate the entire race, I hate that person. Intimidacius would like to state that the reason Whites are viewed as being racist is that there are a lot more racist white people than other races. This is kind of skewed because the majority of the population is white, meaning that a lesser percentage of white racists to other racists still seems that more white people are racist than not.

It is not simply white versus non-white. It is a matter of each race having racist members. Ethnocentrism is not defined as only pertaining to whites. It goes for any race, ethnic group, or gender for that matter. No matter who dishes out the racism, it is wrong. One person's crime does not condemn his/her race.

For Example:
1. I am Intolerant of Intolerant people.
2. I hate people who hate other people.
3. I descriminate against descriminators.

I used to work at a wendys restaraunt, and the only time i ever spit on someones food, was when this skinhead neo-nazi guy ordered a sandwhich, and I couldnt help myself. I just had to spit on it, because I cant stand his system of beliefs.

But does that make ME a racist?
These questions keep me at war with myself.
I preach tolerance, and equality. But am I a hypocrate because I am intolerant of people who dont believe in equality? Or am I simply acting with justification from my beliefs?

Some of you guys take the comments way to seriously. Racism is in the real world, deal with it. I have a lot of black friends and I'm always making racist jokes to them, and they laugh. They do the same to my cracker ass.

Like someone said previously in this thread, people are attention whores, I'd say 90% of them aren't seriously racist.

I used to make racist comments to my white friends who were really sensitive about the subject just to get a rise out of them (it works very easily), and I think it's doing the same with a lot of you guys. No offense to anyone, that's just my honest opinion.

These guys are just pushing people's buttons, reacting by calling them names only fuels the fire.

I'm white. My best friend since second grade is black. We play and mess around, verbally usually.

I don't remember what we said, but it was so off the wall, and we just stared at each other and then started laughing. Then a teacher came and told me that I "shouldn't make fun of people that are different from myself".

Even worse than racism is being overprotective about the subject.

Does anyone remember that time before anyone taught you about people of different ethnicities? I remember seeing people that didn't look like me or my family when I was younger... I thought to myself, "hey, those people are different. cool." and then I went on with life.

I believe that racism is taught, 100%. I do not think the nature of the human animal is to be born with an intense hatred of someone who looks/acts different from itself.

So, my idea to end racism: a new law that decrees all racists be sterilized and have their voice boxes surgically removed.

And if you thought I was serious about that, get a life.

yeah, racism sucks... my dad once said "its not nice to make fun of those who are different from you", which my brother promptly responded, "i don't understand why anyone would make fun of those who were the same as them..." the only funny thing is when people try to be racist against me, but get my race wrong... i have been mistaken for asian (i dunno how) and latin before, and its really funny that they think they are being offensive to me personally. if you are going to be racist, get it right, freaks.

what i really hate, if this applies, is when forms ask for race. you know what i am talking about! the forms you use for school, other government documentation... i am 1/4 mohawk (and four brands of white, lol) so it makes it difficult on me since it says "check one" and there is no multiracial box. grr. anyhow...
