Matter board question

Hey guys! I really enjoy doing the matter board but i was wondering for instance if i do a quest in the matter board where i kill a monster to get its rare drop do i have to run the whole dungeon and kill the boss too? or run around the whole map to find the story cutscenes? or is it okay to just get the item and go out? Thanks in advance!

Yes, you only need the item drop. You don't have to complete the quest to meet the requirements on the Matter Board. That includes story cutscenes as well. You can just grab the item real quick and get out. Note however that sometimes you need to kill more than one of that enemy type to get the item to drop. Check the yellow meter on the right side above the item requirements in the Matter Board to double check.
