Strange problem?

Hello, I'm new in the forum and I don't know what's wrong with the game or launcher.
I just double click to the direct access and... The bar is filled to just under half and window pops out saying:

"Launcher updated! Restart program now."

Then I click the 'back' bottom (the only bottom) and this pops out.

"Error.
The startup of pso2updater.exe was canceled.
The file will no be updated."

I don't get it.
The download and installation was normal, without any problem.
I tried to patch manually but it says this:

"Manual patch version error. Current: 2.0221.4"

I tried to put link to the screenshots I made, but I don't have 10 post in the forum or I dunno.
Anyways, if someone can help me I would be very grateful u.u

I think i found your problem, lad!

[SPOILER-BOX]>go to PSO2 installation folder
>locate file named pso2launcher.exe.bak
>rename it to pso2launcher.exe (delete the .bak)
>you'll be prompted if you really want to overwrite the file or not, click yes -- who cares for corrupted data anyway
>re-run the launcher and let it redownload and updating again

I change the "pso2updater.exe.bak" to "pso2updater.exe", replacing the other "pso2updater.exe" and when I open the program the same happend and both files are restored as if nothing had been done.

I'm out of luck with this game then, hahahaha!

Last year I tried to play it too, but a problem about a disk 2 pops out.
If the problem it's 'cause it's the SEA ver., where I can donwload another ver. of this game?

For the Japanese version that most of us play on:
English installer (http://www.pso-world.com/forums/showthread.php?t=221667&highlight=english+installer). Original Japanese Installer. (http://pso2.jp/players/download/)

PSO2Tweaker. (http://www.pso-world.com/forums/showthread.php?t=207248) Essentially an English launcher that automates the patching process; you can also install the game through it if you don't want to use the above installers. Through it you can install the basic English patch and Large patch without having to do them manually, and it is the only way to get the Story and Item patches. Once you have it set up, it's rather intuitive, though it does have some quirks.
