View Full Version : New wiki name

Nanaha
Feb 8, 2016, 03:36 PM
Argueably Nanapedia isn't the greatest name for a pso2 wiki. Rather most people probably don't see the pso2 cameo from Nanana's Buried Treasure reference so it's a moot point.

Besides something like pso2wiki, anyone got any bright ideas for a new wiki name?

Photonverse
Photoner Database
ARKS Rappy (or ARKS Lillipan)
Dark Falz Den

More would be too much
Also i personally prefer the 2nd and 3rd idea

Anyway, call it Franka's Cafe.

The pedia part does it's like using wiki in the name.

Precisely, which has been used and abused.
When people search for information, they search by content, not title (unless they know where they want to go exactly). The title needs to be something that fits the theme, and, while at it, something that identifies it in a distiguishable manner (a.k.a. not "yet another").

Which brings me to my point, can't we come up with something else for once? I swear, everytime I see -pedia, it makes me cringe.

Which brings me to my point, can't we come up with something else for once? I swear, everytime I see -pedia, it makes me cringe. It's simple and to the point. People see -pedia or wik- on a site and instantly know what its for. I kinda understand where you're coming from, but trying to come up with something wildly different for the sake of being different is silly, especially since your suggestion made less sense than pretty much everything else here. :/

EDIT: I guess what I should be saying is, if you told someone the name without any context would they be able to figure out roughly, what it's for. That's the important part to me, it's not just about being able to find the site, it's about being able understand "This is a site that has information that can be edited by anyone", if you just searched blindly for PSO2 wiki or whatever.

Don't worry people will find a way  like ArksDB or something.

PSO2 JP Wiki or PSO2 JP Database can be in the tagline, no need to cram it into the name.

Anyway I'm going to put down my thought process here. Lemme start with a list of things that can be used as a hook.

PSO2 (obvious but likely expensive)
ARKs (conflicts with ARK the survival game)
Visiphone
Matterboard
Rappy, because cute
Lilipan, also because cute
Itsuki's Report
Seiga Academy
Patty & Tea, because information sisters
Luther
Omniscience
Photons™
Photoners
Xion
Zieg's Armory or something like that
Xiao
Oracle
Franka's Cafe

The single terms would need to be combined with a second idea to form something name-like, like Rappypedia, Luther's Omniscience, Xiao's idkwhat etc

I'm personally liking Seiga Academy though. Easy to remember, not pretentious, 100% linked to PSO2, will likely be shortened to Seiga which doesn't conflict with anything and you can register http://seiga.academy

#2 for me would be Lilipedia / Rappypedia / Nyaupedia because cute.

Ideally I'd prefer not to have any non-alphabets in the URL, so that it's typable from a phone, and I'd prefer no acronyms in the URL, to make it easy to remember.

True but unless they're really that dumb to actually do that then I don't want to know how they even got onto a PC and actually installed PSO2.

Whenever I wanted to go to Cirno, I'd type "pso2 cirno", Nanapedia is probably even better due to that fact that you can just type "pso2 nana". It's easier since it uses the same two words twice and it's not some "hard to use" english word like Athenaeum.

Now, I'm not saying it's hard for me but if I was going to roleplay and act like some dumb westerner, Athenaeum wouldn't really be in my vocabulary.
