Can't be any worse than big cities. My childhood in Miami sucked. It took me moving to a small Arkansas town for me to even realize that kindness and modesty are actual things people can possess, and people weren't being rude to me because I was doing something wrong.

Avoid rural areas. Stick to big cities and outlying suburbs. Been in and around St. Louis most all my life, have no problem with it.
