You trade rocks (which you get from mining tomatoes with a photon pick) for rings, and there is at least three different rocks per planet. Grinding requires rocks as well.

This phantasy stone thing is getting out of hand.

Oh boy can't wait to do some fishing while some random rushing for boss room and unintentionally drawing bunch of hostile to you.
I personally want to see new lobby area, hope this one don't die too soon like casino back then.

Seems like the hunting/scavenging thing is its own mode. The video shows a timer under 1min every time the PC is in the field looking for materials.

hope this one don't die too soon like casino back then.

The thing about the casino is that the music is obnoxiously loud, and deal yelling at you every now and then is kind of jarring. It'll basically come down to the music, and if there are any annoying announcements. I forget what the music sounded like, but I think it's barely on the edge of not being obnoxious.

It's combo timer, but you will still do it on regular quest, as the mining/fishing spot just added left and right, so you can get attacked by mobs in the middle of your "fun" activity.

I think the casino BGM are alright.
The announcer though, i can't stand her, and the place being ridiculously bright too.
Though the main reason people sticking to arks lobby probably because ease of doing bunch of stuff such as tons of CO NPC avability, class counter, esthe and dudu.

It's said that Gathering is a Free Field feature, not its own mode. You can only gather stuff in forest, ruins, beach and Tokyo for now.

Butler-kun looks like the source of the meseta making COs. They didn't scroll through all of his, but the one they showed pays out 100k and it doesn't look especially onerous: just gather 5 of some item. The other two are probably similar. The translation people gonna have their work cut out for them this go around.

So the solution to be alone is playing the game on unpopulated blocks

Summoner has already been great for Collect and Capture trials. I think Sega noticed that those codes suddenly became bearable with Summoner, because you need to use your pick or photon fishing rod for gathering tasks.

I didn't understand a thing, you need fishing and mining for the rings because they give you materials for it? but then why you can buy them with meseta?

Alrighty, I'm done translating Franca's menu.

First of all, new meta confirmed. More on that later.

Now, food is divided into foraging ("Gathering") buffs and buffs that actually matter. Foraging buffs of the same kind override each other. What it means exactly, I don't know, but I guess you can't have a +30% and +50% buff to the same thing running at the same time.

The menu itself:

[spoiler-box]Foraging boosts:

森林トマトのサラダ (Forest Tomato Salad) (2,000 meseta, 10 Forest Tomatoes)
お刺身 (Osashimi) (2,000 meseta, 1 Ruins Salmon)
焼き魚 (Grilled Fish) (2,000 meseta, 1 Forest Trout)
森林マグロのカルパッチョ (Forest Tuna Carpaccio) (2,500 meseta, 10 Forest Tomatoes, 5 Forest Tunas)
森林アユのトマト煮 (Forest Trout Tomato Stew) (10,000, Forest Trout and Forest Tomatoes, evidently)
遺跡サケの果 (Ruins Salmon with Fruit Sauce) (2,500 meseta, probably Ruins Salmon and Ruins Grapes)
遺跡エビのかき揚げ (Deep-Fried Ruins Shrimp) (10,000 meseta, Ruins Shrimp, wouldn't be surprised if you have to gather oil and matches (from Tokyo garbage cans), too)
海岸ハギの塩焼き (Grilled Coastal Goby) (2,500, I guess Coastal Goby and 10 of whatever grows there)

-video cuts-

東京マダイの照り焼き (Tokyo Red Seabream Teriyaki) (2,500, Tokyo Seabreams (caught in a fountain I guess) and possibly something else)
東京マグロのお刺身 (Tokyo Tuna Sashimi) (2,500, Tokyo Tuna and possibly something else)
海鮮スープ (Seafood Soup) (2,000 or 2,500, unknown ingredients)
森林ブリのあり汁 (Forest Yellowtail Soup) (2,000 or 2,500, Forest Yellowtail, possibly something else)

Status boosts:

ジャーキー (Jerky) (2,000 meseta, some meat)
肉野菜炒め (Stir-Fried Meat and Vegetables) (5,000 meseta, meat and vegetables!)
マリネ (Marinated something, I guess meat) (5,000 meseta, meat?)
デリシャスバーガー (Delicious Burger) (5,000 meseta, 5 Marbled Beef, 10 Ruins Grapes, 10 Forest Tomatoes)
something from Tokyo, can't make out the name[/spoiler-box]
Effects of some food items:

I don't have a problem with it, but it might just be because I got tired of weirdly complicated gathering and crafting stuff, it's nice to have something simple.

Those burgers will probably get the most use in stuff like TD speed runs.

That's funny. I'm like a total noob using crafted+boosted red weapons and I regularly hit the top 3 in TD.

I think the grand majority of the player base is already dead weight. Not like it matters when the baseline is so low as it is.

That may be true. Most of my sense of what is "acceptable " comes from here. I don't run a parser, so for all I know I might be way above average. At least I TRY to play skillfully.

I only recently realized there's a dragon tail and wings in the AC scratch for this update.

Hope they won't be horribly overpriced, because I've been wanting those as accessories for ages.

Hope they won't be horribly overpriced, because I've been wanting those as accessories for ages.My first thought was "I gotta get that scratch to sell those, 'cause they're gonna make me all the money." Wings are a tad overvalued for me, but then I usually try to go pretty minimalist. I'd be watching their price right from the start if I were you! :P

I guess ARKS ran out of all the stones just lying on the ground, and now we have to go digging for them. Maybe that's what happened to Amduscia...? At least they're weird space-fish and space-tomatoes, never had to *mine* those things before. Get yo drill and get in the water, yo.

And I sure do hope I can eat like 30 fish at once or something (can't risk losing my gainz, I'm going catabolic brah) because a 1-minute timer is practically useless. I thought this'd be something novel at first, and while I'm still interested in the possibilities the rings give... I'm less keen on the rest of it.

I don't understand why you care about being overpowered or underpowered (because I'm sure you aren't) in a EQ MPA, the only EQ I lost are TDs and not because the power level of the players.

Too many stones in this game?
I really can't keep track of them anymore..

...along with a whole new grind right?

I guess the choice is clear for new players...

A) Pick a class and spend your time getting SAIKI or better armor, grind and affix it, as well as a rainbow set of elemental weapons up to +40 with good potentials and affix them. Finally, Grind out your rings hoping for the best....

or

B) Play Summoner with a Trim, where grinding costs a fraction of the cost and its far easier to do anything....No more Grinding to +40, All one needs is to grind out Armor and Rings. Perfect class for Vita and PS4 players who have limited controls. ;)

From a friend:

Money cost in order to grind and affix 5s Armor set and two 13* rainbow weapon sets to +40 = 89m
Time cost in order to get 13* weapons = 3000+ hours...

Money cost in order to max out a trim including buying eggs to max out stats = 7m
Estimated time = 200 - 300 hours...
Comment from a friend: Who the hell needs 60%?

I had some discussion with various friends about Gathering and Skill Rings.
Some things that were said:
- Linking Gathering to character effective strength is another "if you don't do this you'll fall behind" thing.
- The bonuses from rings could easily have been integrated as skills or another existing system. Adding another system will likely confuse people even more.
- Adding more strength related stuff and more systems will again increase the gap between weak and strong players.
- One friend's reaction was that "SEGA really wants them to quit".

I forget what else. We didn't talk about the effects of food, but that already sounds horrible to me.

I can't say that I think that gathering is a good addition to the game considering the currant storage issues, and all the items that we have to collect for currency...

The graphics update is nice, but it was needed ages ago, and sadly as we are just now getting a version for ps4 I don't exactly see a pso3 on the horizon. Which at this point is what they probably need.

A PSO3? if they take their time to make planets and zones for this Playstation 3 launch graphics games (and sometimes even Playstation 2 level) a new PSO3 with better graphics will be a wasteland with lack of content.

Feb 29, 2016, 11:24 AM
Well, did a lot of pondering and checking on the information SEGA gave regarding the gathering system. And honestly? I'm still not sold on this system to be honest. Something just......doesn't add up. Like the system felt......detached from the rest of the game.

Free field are the worst possible choice for gathering spot locations. I hope SEGA would consider making it's own field and put zero enemies on said field in the future. Making the field actually a place for players to slow down, relax, and maybe have different kind of fun?

......I dunno though. Still need to see the actual system as a whole before making final judgment. It's cool to add new thingz to do in-game. It's not cool to implement it poorly. I really, really hope this is not just SEGA's way to (poorly) incorporate Monster Hunter's gathering system into PSO2, diluting the lootdrop even more, and ultimately get thrown into 'imaginary trash can' when people are not interested.

Stat-boost food might become the next meta, but still need to see the material acquisition rate on the field. No one would bother to create food if the material acquisition rate is bad.
Ring system are.....eh? Again, need to see the material acquisition rate on the field.

As for everything else, cautiously optimistic.

For me the game is over until they add new zones or weapons of my interest, I will try gathering once and that's it, I don't care too much about fashion and my Caseal looks perfect for me.

For me Grinding is about to beat something with power level over me, so unless they add Time Attack bosses I don't care if I do more or less damage with a ring for a Boss I saw thousands of times.
