How do you get xp for rings? I have striking critical ring it wont get any exp from killing mobs.

EDIT: You need to complete the quest then you get EXP ti seems.

EDIT2: The critical ring seems pretty much trash. DMG bonus is non existant. Unless something changes from levels 10->20

wait wasn't it 1% crit and 1% damage scaling up to 20% crit and 20% damage at +20? Ofc getting to +20 will take years since you can actually fail the grinds later nd the gathering take infinity, but eventually it might be useful :)

No so bad if you're a caster and can use resta, but ya, sucks for other classes.

What I'm curious about is L / RR Field and how much time of a time reduction gets removed at Lv20.

100% hp only on PK ring? Wow, that's brutal.

Guess I will go Killing Bonus on my FI then. More PP is always good, and things are always dying. PP Convert + Limit Break seems inadvisable.

Then again, does PP Convert proc Crazy Beat/Heart?

Either way, L rings seem more important to start, need my TD air chase and front S-Roll.

I definitely think that L Rings will be the big thing at the beginning with R Rings being a bit more useful once we've had opportunity to invest in the time to get the materials.

The fact that all the R Rings are noticeably weaker versions of what the class themselves offer should mean that existing builds don't get outright replaced by new builds. Optimistically speaking this should open up a few extra possibilities instead.

Overall I think the main flaw right now is that for R Rings it's all just another marginal increase of power when a good chunk of endgame players are already too strong for anything but the Solo XQ and to some extent TD4.

I definitely feel like the L rings make for much more interesting additions to the game in that they will change the way certain weapons play significantly. TD Air Chase and Knuckle Chase, for example, both help to solve significant problems with maintaining a combo using those weapons. Having not gotten to try them yet, I wonder... how easy/quick is it to change rings? Is it practical to carry both the TD Ring and the Knuckles Ring? Or do you basically have to choose one or the other?

There are 2 boxes with rings in the costume/armor hotkey which is F6 by default that lets you equip them. It should be viable to switch between a few rings, but some will find it too much of an inconvenience.

When said ring is described as "Makes normal attacks and certain PAs draw closer" I'd never imagine the stationary kissing-range paintrain that is BHS to be included in this repertoire. Sega's certainly puffing some fierce stuff these days. :-?

Hope they don't change their minds on it later I suppose oxo . . .

The I-frames is 0.03s at +1, so practically you can't test it at +1

JG frames of katana iirc is 0.18s or 0.21s, so that you can see the diff between that and tech C parrying +1

I got lucky with crystals on one of my accounts, so I tried Knuckle Chase.
It's so-so. Probably more for killing regular mobs than anything else.
But in that case you're probably more likely to use Straight Charge and Quake Howling, which the ring does not affect.

The teleport is also pretty jarring. There's no animation or anything, you just pop forward, and it looks stupid.

Rakurai

So it turns out that JG PA rings don't have any i-frames on their PAs, plus they remove the i-frames you'd normally get from a just guard on top of that, which basically means they're garbage..

Looks like Hunter Gear Keep is basically the only logical left ring choice for Hunter mains now.

Ahahahaha! The animation for front stylish roll looks so bad.
It's just a slowed down crappy version of Grim Barrage. Very unstylish.
You don't even move upwards, you kinda dive downwards.
Barely move forwards, either.

Edit: Only really seems good for spamming forward invincibility.
You can't really stylish roll forwards into a PA because it lands too quickly.

Edit2: Messed around with it more. It's kinda useful for staynig in the air without changing position much.
Also for buffering between changing palettes, but it goes downwards with every use.
Also noticed that your actual position is much lower than how high the forward roll appears.

Knuckle Chaser is sorta good on PD, to ensure you don't miss.
Definitely not a "must-have" but more of a "convenience".
Of course, if you main Knuckles, then there's no reason not to have it.

As a fighter, all those DS/TD/Knuckle rings are absolute heaven. :-o
I agree that they're so nice they should be in the skill tree instead.
I just used TD air chase on Double and I can reach every node from far away just by normal attacking in the air as long as I lock the target.
I don't know if level affects the distance per normal attack though; my ring was at +8.

Haven't really maxed the DS one, but 100% proc will change my whole palette. :-?

Edit: Only really seems good for spamming forward invincibility.

Front S Roll also gives gunner its own PB dash if combined with Dive Roll lol.
It's an exclusively amazing ring for Gunner.
I also agree that it lands too quickly.

I messed around with it a bit more and it does have its uses.

How does the DS one work? Does it need gear to activate?

It does not consume the gear. Which means, shift action becomes purely best for parrying. :D
It can activate on almost all of the PAs. (all of them actually, maybe? I forgot lol)
I got to test each many times due to my low proc (cause of low level). :(

Edit: I checked the pso2 swiki (http://pso2.swiki.jp/index.php?%E3%82%B9%E3%82%AD%E3%83%AB%E3%83%AA%E3% 83%B3%E3%82%B0), seems like everything is there already. Also good to know the Tech Arts JA Bonus also applies to the whirlwind. It's supposed to be very strong then, if it's as what they said.

For those of us who play with a controller instead of a keyboard (and thus are stuck with really awkward palette switching), Front S Roll is a godsend. Now I can actually carry a palette of 3xSatellite Aim without having to worry about how I am going to stay in range of the boss in the air. Meaning I can actually land decent chain finishes now.

GU has instantly become more fun and less frustrating for me.

Here is a list of titles I have unlocked and translated regarding skill ring grinding.
You get extra gems from it so it pretty good.

The condition is to get certain amount of rings to a certain grind level"

1x+5 = 3 emeralds
5x+5 = 5 amethysts
10x+5 = 10 sapphires
15x+5 = 8 opals
1x+10 = 7 opals
5x+10 = 9 sapphires
10x+10 = 10 amethysts
15x+10 = 15 emeralds
1x+20 = 50% triboost

PS: I don't think it mentions anywhere it has to be a unique ring so in theory if you want the same ring on 2 characters, it should count as 2 rings grinded.

Lv1 ring only give 0.03s window ...... Lv20 give 0.6s window.

I've got it to work a few times after trying a lot against Banther. Its a joke. It has the word Parry in it but you don't Parry. There is just a brief amount of frames where you can't get hit. It acts like attacks just phase thru you.

I should probably explain what I mean. I do use this ring on Fo/Te atm. but the name is kinda a joke since you don't parry. I was personally hoping for a tech explosion or something if it worked.

I (finally) got it to work after a few times against Ex too, still wonder why it didn't work before.
Though the 0.18s window is still too thin, need to grind it more. But this is a god send for TE/HU, never before SEGA released so much buffs for TE melee in one update.

The counter starts as you charge it.
You have to face the attacks (front), like normal Just Guard (without All Guard).

Yes this is great even for Force/Techer.

I hope SEGA does not abandon this feature, because there are many more rings I'd like.

Left:
Hunter: boost damage resistance after using War Cry.
Fighter: increase PP recovered from attacks if monster is ailed.
Force: something to make attacking with a card worth something.
Ranger: Bullet Keep for gunblades.

Right:
Shifta Critical
Shifta Strike
Deband Cut
Deband Toughness
You know, so more than one class has Shifta and Deband worth using.
