View Full Version : Your PSO2 gaming setup?

I figured it would be interesting to see how other people play PSO2. Do you play on a desktop or laptop? How do you organize your desk? What kind of controls do you use? Do you have anything running along side PSO2? Do you multitask?

I'll start as an example:
[spoiler-box]My desk:
[spoiler-box]http://puu.sh/nSVe8/e309846433.png[/spoiler-box]
As you can see, I use a controller, it's a Logitech f710 and I mapped the home button with a 3rd party program to quickly switch weapons, tap = mobbing, press = bossing. I also use a gaming mouse (Logitech g502) for ranged class. My screen is a 1080p monitor by samsung (no idea what the model is), and I sometime put YouTube on my Wii U gamepad on the side when I'm doing boring stuff. I have a webcam sitting on one of my speaker for when I want to stream or Skype call. Also, Rum and Coke... And I'm a otaku, deal with it.

My screen:
[spoiler-box]http://puu.sh/nSTkN/0c19d8b104.png[/spoiler-box]
The first thing you probably notice is that I have a youtube video on the side, I have a google chrome extension called Floating YouTube that let me overlay a video on my screen, and I use that sometime instead of bothering with my Wii U. Under that I use OverParse because it's so addicting to use in EQs. I also use ReShade to improve my graphics, and my graphic card (GTX 750ti) setting handle the AA and I changed the contrast a little bit.[/spoiler-box]

Yes, that is a command hook holding my headphones. I name the PC Beast 2.0 in memory of my first PC. First one still works, but my younger brother has it and I built this a month or two ago.

eh boot drive? you mean CD drive, right? You can make a bootable USB (if you're going to use pirated OS like I am =3=)

Umm ....
[SPOILER-BOX]Setup
[SPOILER-BOX]http://puu.sh/nT2xv/e59bfefe65.jpghttp://puu.sh/nT2xe/7817d58642.jpg
- Unused PS2 and PS3 on the left.
- Broken speaker on the mid (under the table) .... cables entangled behind. I'll get rid of it once I upgrade my PC (early next month).
- Mini speakers on the sides, used to try manually use 7.1 setup (3x stereo speaker sets) using left over speakers, stopped using once the speakers on the back is broken). Now went stereo.
- Pretty big stereo speaker from unused VCD player ....... the VCD player is under the screen.
- Headset ........ only used for the mic.
- No money for PC casing and disc drive

- Wacom Bamboo Tablet ..... stopped using it years ago, too tired from doing useless errands irl.
- 1 Logitech joystick ...... non-vibrate type, forgot the type.
- Logitech G402 Hyperion Fury .......
- Razer Nostromo ...... always wanted gamepad (got it brand new around 20 USD I think), since it's already discontinued. I wanted the scrolls ..... so, yeah, newer gamepad .... not too interested. Only used it for PSO2 for now. Other game can use normal keyboard.
- CM Storm Devastator, just want the backlit lighting ..... in case I wanna play in the dark ....
- PS Vita on the side (used it for taking these pictures, and yes, I don't have tablet / smartphone with camera. Used old Nokia phone where GPRS and color on screen other than black/white is too highly advanced for my phone  )

And, no, I don't play competitively ...... just using it for having a better enjoyment. I don't like PvP things. DotA 2 and the likes is an offline games, done best with AI for me.[/SPOILER-BOX]

It's overkill for PSO2 (i5-6600K + R9 380 4GB and 8GB of Ram), but I really like computer hardware so I keep tinkering/updating it overtime.
I use the 360 controller for most games that allow controller support (grew up with consoles, just feels more natural to me). The Logitec G502 was mostly for other MMOs, since if I have to use a mouse + keyboard for a game; I will try to move/map as many Key-Functions to the mouse as possible (using my left hand for anything other than movement & maybe one or two actions is just REALLY awkward for me).

Bonus:
[SPOILER-BOX]http://i1355.photobucket.com/albums/q713/rghost1228/PC%20Stuff/Bonus.GuestPC_zpsqg3p4w2c.jpg (http://s1355.photobucket.com/user/rghost1228/media/PC%20Stuff/Bonus.GuestPC_zpsqg3p4w2c.jpg.html)[/SPOILER-BOX]
Since I've accumulated three whole Computer's worth of parts over the years, I made a 2nd fully operational PC for when I have guests over (usually my sister wanting to play Fallout/ElderScrolls/NeverWinter, while she's in town). It's got an AMD A10-5800K + R9 270X 2GB and 8GB of Ram. It won't be maxing Crysis 3, but it gets the job done. [SPOILER]Also, Wii U cuz I still like playing games with people that are physically next to me.

[spoiler-box]http://www.smashmybrain.com/pso2ss/setup.jpg[/spoiler-box]

From Left to Right:

Guitar Rack with the following Guitars:

1) Seven-String Ibanez Electric Guitar (All strings drop-tuned) w/ LiquiFire7 + CrunchLab7 pickups.
2) Six-String Reverse Neck Ibanez Guitar custom-modded for Lead Playing with hybrid-bridge pickup series. Super Distortion (Neck) + Evolution Middle, and Evolution Bridge
3) Lola-Series First ACT guitar (Hand Made American Electric Guitar) set for more Vintage/Classic Retro Sounds from 70s - 80s.
4) Five String Active Ibanez SoundGear Electric Bass

*Accoustic Guitars not shown in this picture. Though I run usually with a handmade classical accoustic-electric guitar (handmade in Spain) and a Bluegrass Martin Dreadnought Series Guitar (yeah, I have the ability to play those)

Continuing Further Along

Humidifier - For Instruments and Room.
Three Bulb-Light with different light-bulb types.
Backup-Server based computer (blocked by the chair)
Crappy Subwoofer and speaker: This is part of my monitoring in actually seeing how someone would hear the sound I make in my music. This is the standard-level of shittiness needed in order to help with Equalization and Mastering for the crappy-level technology than 99% of people own. I also use them for any non-heavy sound that I am not monitoring...

Two monitors of different sizes, but same resolution. They help a lot in different productions. The left is usually to play games and the right is usually for whatever audio-work and communication. This is so the font is easier to read with a smaller window when using Audio and Video Technologies... Will be getting a third monitor soon.

Blueball Mic: I like the different settings for these especially when commentary comes into play in some videos and productions. Its not the best thing in the world, but for its versatility, one can not really complain about the popularity of these things. I love Blueball Mics and have a real soft spot for them even though I know better things exist.

BOSE Noise Cancelling headset: These are connected to my TASCAM 4x4 device for monitoring. These headsets are active-types meaning they require batteries though they are wired. I use these when I am Monitoring as these are some of the best headsets out there to get on a budget. They run for around $300 but each new generation gets better for the same price.

Merc/Steelseries Keyboard: This is the reason I am able to do the weird combos and things on Fighter/Techer. Without this keyboard I wouldn't be able to play Fighter/Techer as versatile as I can handle it. I actually use all three subpalettes and focus on playing on the left side of the Keyboard. On the game TERA I play Mystic but with 40+ Commands mapped to the left side of my keyboard. Final Fantasy XIV has similar mappings for me. PSO2 remains the most annoying game to map ever. This is the first keyboard I have bought or ever owned in which I can hold 12 buttons at the same time without losing the command queue. The worse Keyboard I've ever owned was the "Logitech Elite Gaming Keyboard" which was a complete disaster with dropped input.

Ratzpad mouse pad: The pride of QuakeCon and one of the best mouse pads ever made. Smooth Pad meaning none of the friction from Cloth-Based Mousepads meaning, much more accurate headshots and smoother gameplay when dealing with precision gaming like FPS games or time-based precision in games where one gets one shot to make it where failure means death (we've all been there)!

G400 Mouse: I've loved Logitech Mice for a long time and my favorite is the one can control the tickrate of the mice as well as the DPI. These mice are amazing with such sleeper abilities that those with computer knowledge can really take their gaming far. I've used many gaming mice, especially weight controlled mice out there and pro-gaming mice and these Logitech Mice as far as balance go really are amazing.

Graphite 49: MIDI Keyboard that i use in working on input for music. I really love that I can change the Keyboard-Type. By Type I don't mean like Strings, Organs or any of that, more like the touch-style one has to piano and keyboards when corresponding to sound. That reason alone was the reason I bought this keyboard and I love what it can do and how it syncs up to my DAW.

Right-Table and Underneath:

Tascam US-4x4: This is my input device. I have four inputs along with two monitors. Very important for plugging in and working with multiple simultaneous tracks. Example. If I play and sing at the same time, its two tracks running simultaneously. One for a guitar, and one for the Mic for voice.

MAUDIO-TRIGGER FINGER: Drum Machine that I use at times. Able to generate many headaches for the crowd while saving me from headaches when recalling patterns.

Tripod + Camcorder: I use this for recording some live performances and wanting to upload at HD Quality to the ZMS. Many questions which are asked are in the form of videos rather than simply posting. It allows for those with an answer to respond with a video solution as well.

Dry-Erase Board: Even the simple works wonders. A lot of ideas go here in which I work into projects later.

Secondary Monitoring Headset: Yes, always a must. Monitoring must be done with headsets because if one monitors with output speakers during a recording, the recording will capture the input and feedback if not careful. However, that is also a technique which I am good at called "pulsing."

Line 6 Spider IV 150W AMP: This is my Electric Guitar AMP. My Bass Amp is not in the picture above. These are Digital Amps that have simulated Amps and good processing. I love these since I am into Electronic Music, Video Game Music, and Motion Picture Music, and I also like Techno along with Hard Rock and Heavy Metal. While its not the best thing in the world for Heavy Metal, it does it well because I can combine many unusual things with my Pedal Board.

POX X3 Live: This Multi-Effects Pedal Board is one of the most amazing things ever. I have the ability to Pulse and Back with this. In short, I can stack one CLEAN Acoustic Amp in front of One Metal-Distorted AMP, then run a clean signal to the accoustic amp and run the distortion signal to the metal amp, run them together simultaneously to play metal and have that acoustic percussive effect we love to hear so much from acoustic guitars. I have Mods, Stomp Boxes, Cabinet Simulation, Compression, Effects and Delay including Wah that I can control. The best thing here is the fact I can create two tones (the way the amp sounds) and run them simultaneously for many interesting things.. This combined with the AMP I use and DAW I use allows me to conjure up almost any sound I can dream off, and I can even have control of the Console-Synth effects of the 80s and 90s if I want to! :)

PC:
MSI SLI Motherboard linked to two EVGA 980 GTX cards. I go for EVGA because of their extended warranties for purchasing the cards. I run i7-2600K overclocked to 4GHZ. I run on 16GB of RAM with Tighter Timings on the memory, and have a giant air cooling fan for the processor. I always buy Aftermarket coolers for processors. Video Card Cooler is actually pretty good for the Nvidia cards this time around. I use a Chaser-MK II case due to how great one can actually control the cable management and the fact I can pop in an SSD or HDD on the top. I swap them out like old video game cartridges (as long as the system is powered off first) and it works out. I use a Corsair Power Supply in which peaks at 92% efficiency during 50 - 75% load. When I bought the supply it had the best waveform to prevent system spiking from frying parts. I run on Four Internal Drives (2 SSD and 2 HDD) along with an Archival Drive on the top usually. Behind the system I sometimes connect and power on a Drive-Station allowing me to have 8 - 12 drives running simultaneously if need be.

Windows 10 for me since I need Direct X 12 due to what is inside the system. I use Sonar Platinum for Audio Engineering, PowerDirector 14 Ultimate for video editing, X-Renderer for Debugging, and DXTORY for video capturing. I have a ton of games and many programs I run simultaneously. On top of all of that I have a lot of Game Design and Development Programs as well as SDKs (Software Development Kits) and I love Mapping, Modelling, and Rendering. Basically this computer does all of that without CRAPPING OUT and can do many of this simultaneously...

Of course the rule is that prior to rendering and rebuilding begin, one should actually give as many resources as possible to the system for it. I actually give Four threads out of my eight to rebuilding. I could talk about modding, coding/programming, etc....but those don't take many resources...

Its when I am running my heaviest programs together + gaming and capturing video at the same time...that I get really happy that this system doesn't just crap out on me. :)

Oh yes I almost forgot:

Power: I have three power strips. One on the right wall for the Music Equipment, One for the Computer, and one for the Humidifier, Light and anything else. Finally, the blue thing in the bottom of the shot is my bed. Basically I have one bed that goes under the bed so I sleep on a Twin but, when I need more room, I pull out the other bed from under the bed and actually I get the space of a king (twinx2)....

Lots of stuff I don't have on this shot, like the dolls I use for working on conceptual character designs prior to rendering on Maya/3DSMax, etc... as well as simply working on characters and storyboarding for the things I write. I have to be able to imagine and picture the character in my head in order to actually work with it. What I actually do is use Barbie dolls (they are EXACTLY seven-heads tall) for characters and work with the hair with some assistance....and then write a character bio. Mattel is amazing at having Light-Types and Dark-Types without actually confusing it with Skin Tones, as well as Warm and Cold Colors without confusing it with Types either. They are the only company in the world that actually gets the Head Count right when it comes to using anything that can be used in the world of animation. Even the smaller characters are the RIGHT head count, considering that they can be bought for as little as $5 instead of paying $50 - $100 for a mannequin.

Other side of the room have my ipads and other devices. ;)
