Hi. I recently downloaded the PS4 version of the game and am really enjoying the fancy graphics. I kinda want to run the game like this on my PC as well but I think my graphics card is holding me back. Right now i can run the game at tier 5 with a pretty smooth frame rate of 40-50 fps. when i up it to tier 6 i get 20-30 fps and it just feels a bit weird to me. I don't think its my processor or anything so I wanted to know if anyone knows a relatively affordable upgrade for an radeon HD 6670 card that should be able to run tier 6 a bit better. any help would be appreciated.

Can't go wrong with a GeForce GTX 750 Ti. Your processor could be holding you back too, though.

i dunno. my processor is a Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition so i think its pretty good.
also, would the GTX 750 Ti work with my ASUS M5A97 motherboard? sorry im a bit stupid when it comes to the nitty gritty of PCs.

Yes. A PCI-E 3.0 card is backwards compatible with the 2.0 on that board, it just has less bandwidth to take advantage of..however the 750ti won't be using up all the bandwidth of a 2.0 slot, let alone a 3.0 slot, so it won't matter.

thanks for the help. this card seems like a good upgrade and it fits within my projected budget of close to $100.

I would recommend a GTX950 rather than a 750ti. The price/performance you get is much higher while the price tag is around $20 higher, and it should last you much longer in terms of compatibility/driver support.

If you think that's too much though, you can try a second-hand 750ti, as it's old and the price should be dirt cheap, allowing you to save for the next one.

If you can scratch it and the bottleneck isn't too terrible, get a GTX970 and don't look back.

I went ahead with the 750 Ti. It works for my budget and from what I can see its still a good upgrade from my radeon hd 6670. Really my major goal was something newer with more power so I can run more things. my radeon was from 2011 and really limited what i could play. Tier 6 graphics added just enough to make me finally decide to upgrade the card. Hopefully with the 750 Ti i can run PSO2 on its highest graphics setting and i also get to play other stuff on my PC as a nice bonus.

For that price range...The GTX 950 or even the AMD R7 270 might be better.
And it's better for future proofing, get a current gen AMD 3xx or Nvidia 9xx, or wait for Nvidia to release their new chip in 1~2 month GTX 10XX serie.

Tier 6 Graphic is made for PS4, which uses a modified AMD 7870, so you might actually want to go for a equilivant.

Which you can see it's about only half of what it is capable of.

the 750 Ti should run Tier 6 graphics though right? My current card the Radeon HD 6670 runs tier 5 well but the extra shaders of tier 6 made me lose 10-15 FPS so i wanted to upgrade. From what I can tell the 750 Ti is still a pretty good upgrade from my current card. If i get the money for a better card later in the year i might upgrade again but for now i had a budget of only around $100 without much of a variance.

It should be able to, but you won't really know till you put it in and try it.

And for future proofing future game, Nvidia is coming out with their new Pascal chip in the next few month, so it might be more prudent to wait, or just get the current gen GTX 9XX serie, or AMD R7 3XX.

Just be sure NOT to install the latest drivers (364.72 as of 01 May 2016) from NVIDIA.
They still haven't fixed the framerate issues introduced a couple of versions ago.
Right now, for my GTX 950M, the best version is the 361.91.
With latest version drivers, framerate at Tier 6 is around 30 FPS and below.
With 361.91 drivers, framerate at Tier 6 is around 80 FPS and above sometimes.

Yeah, current driver are more geared toward DX11 and GTX 900 serie, earlier card like GTX 7XX are having problem with current driver.

So, you should also try multiple driver version if possible.

I have different experience, I'm using 770 with 364.51

if I use 361.91, setting Antialising compatibility to 0x004112C1 or 0x00441044 would make animating textures flickering like crazy, but no problem in 364.51

Just use what's best for you~

Lavandy have alot of problem with current driver, and I've had some hit and miss with drivers too, Nvidia's current driver seems really hit and miss for alot of people if you go to their geforce forum.
